Chapter 25 Journey to the Tree
"Why did we go with this plan." Yang Yu said quietly as they creeped forward bit by bit. They had left the cave a couple hours ago and were currently enacting a plan Wang Haotian recommended.
"Well if we hide in the bushes, along with the Beast Repellent, the beasts won't find us." Wang Haotian said as they continued moving within the bushes.
One had to know that the Beast Repellent didn't act as a disgusting scent to the beasts, but rather hid the consumers smell and presence from the beasts, allowing them to move around without detection.
"So how far is this tree." Yang Yu whispered as he stealthily creeped through the rubble. "About 400 kilometres from the sect, so about 100 kilometres from here." Wang Haotian whispered back as Yang Yu nodded.
'At this rate it will take us an entire day to make it there.' Yang Yu thought as a few beasts began to pass by. Immediately he stopped where he was and laid against the ground. The beasts looked around a bit, but quickly ran past them.
'That was close, Zhao Shen sticks out like a sore thumb though.' Yang Yu thought as he gazed towards the burly man covered in leaves.
As they ventured forward, more and more trees came into view, making their job easier. This was because there were far less beasts the further you went into the 10,000 Beasts Forest, this was due to the fact that the deeper you went into the forest the stronger the beasts, because of this the weaker and more populated beasts would avoid going into the deeper parts of the forest so as to not get killed.
'Well at least not all the trees were trampled into bits.' Yang Yu thought as they continued through the forest. Bit by bit they sped up as the need to conceal themselves began to reduce and reduce, but soon night fell.
"At this point I'd say we're about 70 kilometres away, considering we can speed up now, by tomorrow we should make it there, but just in case we need to fight we should rest first." Wang Haotian said as they all nodded.
They were all tired, and Chen Feng especially was about to collapse. "But where do we sleep at?" Yang Yu asked. "Hmm, we'll just rest here, I'll keep watch." Wang Haotian replied with as Chen Feng nodded.
"You sure, I don't mind staying watch." Zhao Shen said as Wang Haotian nodded. "I am sure, don't worry you big oaf." Wang Haotian joked making Zhao Shen chuckled.
"I'll get to bed then." Zhao Shen said as he rested his back on a tree and fell asleep. "As will I." Chen Feng said before hoping onto a tree branch and resting on it.
"What about you?" Wang Haotian asked, looking towards Yang Yu. "I am going to train my spear first." Yang Yu said as he grabbed his spear.
After that he began thrusting his spear outward as he moved around. "Good you're doing well." Yun Zhu said while Yang Yu continued his movement, off to the side Wang Haotian watched as he smiled in admiration.
'Who knew people still trained the basics.' Wang Haotian pondered as he grasped his sword and gazed at it. 'Maybe that's what I was missing when fighting with Xu Tianlong, the basics?' Wang Haotian contemplated while stroking his blade.
Time passed, as Yang Yu continued his spear training, and eventually he stopped. "I'd say that was quite good." Yun Zhu remarked as Yang Yu heaved. 'Quite good? That was near perfect I'd say.' Yang Yu reasoned. "You're still missing the essence of it." Yun Zhu replied as Yang Yu gazed at him dumbfounded.
'Whatever, I am heading to bed.' He thought but before he could Wang Haotian walked towards him. "Junior, do you have a copy of, The Basics of the Sword?" Wang Haotian inquired hopefully.
"Eh, I might, why do you want one?" Yang Yu responded with some confusion. "I just, need one." Wang Haotian replied, hearing this Yang Yu nodded before grabbing a pen and some paper.
"Give me 2 minutes." Yang Yu said before he headed into the forest. Once a distance away, Yun Zhu wrote The Basics of the Sword out, and Yang Yu went back to their resting place.
"Here this should be what you need." Yang Yu said as he handed Wang Haotian a piece of paper. On it The Basics of the Sword were written and immediately Wang Haotian nodded his head. "I don't know how you can do it by memory, but I'll take your word for it." Wang Haotian replied before immediately beginning to follow the manual.
"I'll just head to bed then, good luck with your training." Yang Yu stated before putting away his items in the Crimson Steel Ring, and going to bed.
Seeing this, Wang Haotian stopped training for a moment and gazed at Yang Yu. 'People are so caught up in that Jiang Long newbie, and they miss the gem right in front of them, I am sure Yang Yu will be able to defeat him in due time, and eventually, even surpass I and Xu Tianlong.' Wang Haotian mused with a smile on his face.
"At that point don't forget this senior." He said to himself in the forest, where nobody could hear him. "But before that, I'll become the number 1 genius, even if only for a moment!" Wang Haotian declared before slashing his sword in accordance to the manual.
