Chapter 7

It was the day of the wedding. Everyone was getting ready and setting up last minute preparation. I was on my way to Cielo's dressing room when I ran into the woman from the garden walking out of a room. I stopped to say hello but she pulled a hood over her head and walked passed me accidentally bumping into me but never looking my way. I shrugged it off since she must be busy.

Walking into my brother's room, I saw him looking in the mirror at his reflection. He had a white tux with a black tie and black leather shoes. His hair was tied low on his head. The royal asshole wanted him to cut it short, saying that he looked too feminine, but mother denied it. The king instead told me to wear my hair down and for Cielo to wear his hair back with his bangs out of his face since we looked too similar with them down. We reluctantly agreed on this.

This is also the first time I have ever seen him without a cape. It felt odd.

"The way you wear that tux is awful" I told him

He grimaced at himself in the mirror. "I know"

We stayed silent for a while.

What am I supposed to say? Congratulations? Hope you get along with your future wife?

"I hate this" I decided on

"Me to" he said

I left him alone in the room after that. On my way to the main room, I ran into Luna who was wearing a simple white dress with her hair up in a fashionable bun with flowers and jewels in her hair. She looked stunning.

I decided to be nice and greet her, "Hello."

"Hello" She bowed her head but didn't raise it up afterwards.

"I didn't know you guys bowed. I'm sorry!" I said and leaned down into an awkward bow

"No no! I'm sorry! We don't-" She lifted her head in surprise...at the same time I lifted mine. Woops.

Our faces were close to each other's and we jumped back.

"Ack! Sorry!" I grimaced as my face got warm.

"No! It's my fault!" She replied and the tips of her ears turned red.

I was going to say something but got interrupted by a voice.

"Ah! It's my daughter and future daughter! Have you two made friends yet?"

I turned and saw the king of Kalkan walking towards us.

I forced a smile and said "'Scuse me. Gotta go" and dashed away.

I don't care if that was rude. I did NOT want to see that monster any more than I needed to.

Walking into the main room I was stunned by the amount of colors that danced around in the room. I walked down the aisle, imagining what it would be like to live here.

"Do you like it?" Mom asked from behind me

I turned around and smiled "I do!"

She gave me a soft smile, looked away and said "I'm glad." Her voice cracked at the end.

"Mom? Are you okay?" I asked

She looked back at me with tears in her eyes. I froze.

She wiped the tears away.

I have never seen her cry before and for some reason, my heart broke along with hers.

"Yeah! I'm okay" she smiled a big genuine smile and I nodded. We hugged and only let go after the guest started showing up.

"I should go talk with your brother." Mom said and walked towards Cielo's room.

After greeting the guest and sitting everyone down, the ceremony started.
