Sword&Shield

(GL) Two girls. Two weapons. Two kingdoms. Born with the ability to use the sword and shield passed down for generations, two girls and their group of weapons wind up working together to find answers on how they came to be. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “My body burned with sharp prickles all over. I couldn’t stand for much longer and fell to my knees. The pain was numbing but not enough. My right arm was being crushed and reassembled over and over again until it formed the shape of the weapon I once held. I looked over at my comrades. Dead. All of them.”

Chapter 8

<Luna>

I stood behind the doors to the aisle of the main room. The queen of Kardas instructed us to have the wedding this way instead of the old fashion way. Weddings are usually dressed in our kingdoms colors, have a traditional bonding ceremony and be done with it. This way feels more personal and I do not like it at all.

I heard music starting from the other side of the door. The guards opened the door and I walked into the room.

I walked down the aisle with pink roses in hand. I disliked everything. The shoes were killing me, the dress was too hot, and I could feel everyone staring at me. But I kept walking, not allowing a single emotion show. Because if I did, I would regret what would come right after.

After I made it to the end, I faced Cielo whose face was pale as a sheet. I guess this is as hard for him as it is on me.

I looked down at the crowd behind him and saw Vanessa. Every sound became mute and every color dimmed except for my sister who stared straight ahead with dull eyes.

Everything came flooding back. I shouldn't make a scene since father is watching my every move.

The unitor asked for our vows. As he spoke mine, he was interrupted and the doors flung open.

"We object!"

Thank goodness! Me too!

Vanessa stood up and said "You guys came in too early"

She stared straight into my eyes, "Oh well. This just means that the revolution will have to start earlier than expected"

My heart dropped. I knew she hated father but I never knew she'd go as far as to lead a revolution.

I didn't have time to think about her since the relvolutions were coming towards us. Estrella jumped in front of her brother and I brought out my shield.

We fought against the men and women. After noticing that Estrella wasn't taking this fight seriously, I yelled "This would go faster if you would actually use that sword for what it's made for! Why don't you-"

A white light flashed around us, cutting me off. After the light dimmed, my shield was gone.

"The hell?!" Father yelled "Why won't it come back?!"

He's right. I tried my hardest to form my shield back but with no success.

I looked up to see Estrella falling down with a loud bang from her head hitting the floor. The man on top of her held his sword up and yelled as he brought the sword down on her. I grabbed the nearest chair and blocked his sword with it. His sword got stuck in the chair and I kicked him in the stomach. He clutched it and fell over. I brought the chair down into his head and ran towards Estrella.

"Estrella? Estrella!" I yelled and shook her. Her head rolled around and I knew she passed out.

There were people coming after us and I tried shielding Estrella from them when the queen of Kardas ran over to us. She fought them all off with a spare sword she brought.

After everyone was down, she turned towards us. She layed a hand over her daughter's head and looked back at the door. She turned towards me "You need to run. Take Estrella and have Cielo help you. Can you do that for me?" She asked

"What about you?" I asked

She smiled "I will be fine as long as you three are safe" and with that she stood and held her sword up.

"Go!" She yelled

I stood and picked up Estrella. After years of holding heavy shields, I waa used to carrying heavy objects. She was actually really light.

I ran to the side of the building where Cielo was waiting.

"We should go" he said

I turned back at the fight between the rulers of the kingdoms and the revolutions. All I hoped for was that everyone makes it out alive.
