Swimming Prodigy’s Return

Life isn’t fair and Kim Min-chul knows it...except it isn’t for the reason you are thinking. ...Min-chul is just too damn PERFECT!!! he has a tall height of 184 cm, a fast metabolism, perfect swimmer’s body without even trying and is unknowingly a ladies man! He makes girls fall for him without even knowing!!! How do you even do that?!?! Unfortunately however, he let this all get to his head. Not starting his swimming career until he was in junior high and barely making it into the international leagues. Even then, he would neglect his training regularly. With his 184 cm height, his constant slumping caused him to lose some height, eventually reducing to 176 cm. Even with his fast metabolism, he ate too much and rarely exercised; giving him a potbelly at 29. Despite his natural swimmer’s body, his shoulders got narrowed down and social skills now non-existent. Looking back at his life in high-school and college as a 40 year old salaryman making just above-average wage, he stares over Wariss Bridge and contemplates. Contemplating whether life is worth living or not... “Bwahahahaha!!! What the hell, author? Contemplating what, you liar! I just thought that the view was nice!” “...y-y-you...you’re courting death; insulting me, ancestor koppa!” That day, a strong gust of wind started the chain of unlikely events that would eventually take Min-chul’s life. ‘.....I died, huh?’ [beep boop zorp... I am making robot noises!] “What the hell?!?!” [Oh! You are host, yes? I am your system! Your swimming system!] NOTE: This story isn’t one of those “ sport is life” novels. This is the story of redemption for a man who lost everything due to his own negligence. He isn’t a swimmer, he is a regular guy with a life who is also happens to be a swimmer. Don’t get me wrong though, there will be tournament arcs and swimming tournaments but I will focus on a more slice of life type story for this novel.

Battle Royale

"Are you ready, my babies?"

"Un!" "Yes, mommy"

Answering our mother, she sends Jung off to follow dad to his first day in kindergarten while she brings me to my first day of Preschool.

Honestly, I'm worried. I'm 100% sure I remembered preschool as not an educational place. It was place of disgust, filth and monsters; gremlins. The supposed supervisors were non-existent or non-caring.

Absolute anarchy.

Walking into my undoing holding my mother's hand, I check the Quests to see the recommendations for today. Over the 1 year I've used the system and it's quest system, I've gathered quite the amount of money; about ₲2,500 in total.

'Quests; recommended'

'Huh...so I should aim for the popular student. The Hardcore quest might as well be impossible'

Setting my goals for the day, I walk through the halls and...yep. I hear my future in the forms of the other classes and groups of kids following a teacher.

Walking past one room, about 15 little monsters are ganging up on a panda-like human with the eye rings and stomach to fit in at the zoo. Another room has kids peeing in the corner of the classroom by moving their diapers to the side.

And the worst of all, I saw an extremely tired man leading them down the hallways..

not paying attention to them. I only saw about 7...each class has about 15...

how in the world did you lose half your class?!?! Where did they go??? What the hell!! This gives me so much anxiety!

It's like letting 3 chickens loose in a school with the tags, 1, 2, and 4 written on them. Where is the 3rd chicken?!?

Taking a deep breathe to calm my nerves, I start muttering to myself. Hoo...hooo... you can do this you can do this!

[no you can't, you anti-social turtle]

'Shut up, Feelie! I can do this!'

Entering the end of my life... ahem ahem...the classroom, I hear that it's...it's quiet? Did we walk in the wrong class? Are we late and is it nap time? What the hell?

"Ah! Seems like you are just on time. Welcome! Now that all the students are here, let's start with an introduction of our names, oookaaaayyy~~?"

""Un!""

With all of the baby voices saying "un" at once, I'm sure I saw some mom hold their cheeks and blush. Well, we are very cute. Especially me! I'm the cutest in this room, losers! Witness me and see my greatness!

'...damn it... that's the old me again. I'd better fix that somehow'

"Let's start wiiithhhh.... the cute little girl in the red dress!"

"A-a-a-aaaa... he-he-h-hello... I-I-I am... Dong Sun-hee... t-t-treat me w-well"

"Waaaa... good job, little Sun-hee! Let's seee.... what about that boy..."

Continuing until everyone except for me is done, the teacher focuses on me and calls me out.

"And finally...the cute little boy in the red shirt!"

"Hello classmates, I am Kim Min-chul I hope you treat me well"

[ding ding ding! Recommended Quest complete!]

'Mwahahahahaha! I'm sure they are thinking...'

' 'woah~... how did he not stutter?' '

[you narcissistic crybaby]

'Whatever, Feelie! I know you want to congratulate me!'

[actually I do... I-I want to congratulate you for being such a dummy!]

'Thanks! I know you don't mean it'

Sitting back down next to my mom, I see the other moms staring at my mom. Ahhh, it seems they are doing mom-lepathy. I wonder what they are talking about.

(Mom-lepathy POV)

'Tell us your ways! How did your child not stutter!!??'

'Heh... p-tch! I spit on you, shameless women! I already said! He doesn't stutter because his blood has my own! I never falter!'

'You narcissistic mother! Your child is not anything like you, you potty mouthed bad influence!'

'... ooh? What did you call me? 'Eeek! W-what the hell is wrong with you! Y-y-you monster!'

Around the moms, the air gets stuffier; as if they are in an elevator without airflow or a metal box in the desert. Obviously, they have a shortness of breath and avert their eyes from Min-chul's mom. Once they stop looking at her, the air suddenly returns to normal.

Realizing that it was caused by the "narcissistic mom", they shiver in fright and return to attending to their children who are unaware of the battle that just happened.

Looking at her son, Min-hee smiles brightly thinking about how bright her son is.

He could talk at 9 months old, he knows multiplications table and she thinks he knows more. He is very active and is very interested in swimming; much to her delight. Her boy is a genius, who wouldn't be happy?

(Mom-lepathy POV END)

Heading home, I check my status to make sure everything is in it's right place.

'Status'

'Ahhhh, my status makes me wanna swim again!'

"Baby, how was your first day?"

"Good! I made 2 friends!"

Yes, in fact, I did make friends. Both of them came up to me so I just accepted their in real life friend request. Very awkward but it's fine since they're kids. One a boy, one a girl.

They both seems very cool; playing with blocks and stacking them higher than themselves...not so cool but for our age, they thought it was cool so I played along.

What? Just because I don't like it I have to destroy their tower building dreams? Nonsense! Go on unnamed friends 1 and 2! Build the tallest towers you can! Build it high and sturdy and remember my name when you see me on the Olympics channel!

"Good night mom"

"Do you want me to sing to you?"

"Un!"

"Haha...alright alright... ahem ahem...

Mama's gonna buy you a billy goat~

And if that billy goat don't pull~~

Mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull~"

Going to sleep with mom's singing, I start drifting off into dreamland while remembering the good days at high school.

'Ahhh, I wanna grow up already'
