Chapter 8: The Promise.

=The Next Day=

Shanks is leaving and Rin is sending the food supplies to the port for Shanks crew to bring it up the ship. While passing by Luffy and Shanks, Rin overheard Luffy and Shanks having the same talk as in the anime, she then see Shanks giving Luffy his straw hat. Seeing this moment Rin can't help but smile. After giving his hat to Luffy, Shanks got up the ship and they started leaving the village.

Everyone went back to their business after Shanks left and Rin is about to go back to the bar when she sees Luffy still standing at the same place staring at the sea."...Luffy let's go..." Rin said in a soft voice and worried face, but Luffy didn't even budge. Seeing Luffy act like that, Rin went closer to Luffy. "...Hey...are you okay..."Rin ask after tapping on Luffy's shoulder.

"Ah... Rin..."Luffy says in a sad voice."Rin... can I ask you something..."asked Luffy. There's a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Sure..."said Rin worriedly.

"Um... do you think I can become a great pirate..."Luffy asked.

Rin got a little shocked by his question. This isn't shown in the anime so she doesn't expect Luffy to ask such thing."Why do you say that?" Rin asked.

After a while Luffy answers."...Because... if I don't become a great pirate... I might never fulfill my promise with Shanks and... I might never see Shanks again..."

Rin is surprised by what Luffy says. After some time Rin says."...You'll become a great pirate!! A great pirate with a great crew and you'll go on amazing adventures!! I'm sure of it!!!" She said it with a confident look.

Luffy look at Rin and started laughing. "Shishishishishi!! Thank you Rin!!"

Seeing Luffy back to how he usually is Rin finally feel relieved. She smiled and said "Your welcome!"

After that the both of them goes to Makino's bar. When they arrived at Makino's bar, Rin went straight to working and Luffy went straight to eating.

=The Next Day=

"Alright I've decided!! I'm gonna learn to fight using my devil fruit power!!" said Luffy suddenly.

"What..." Makino asked.

"I'm gonna be a strong pirate using my devil fruit power!!" Luffy answers.

"And from where are you gonna learn to fight... you don't even know much about your devil fruit abilities." Rin said.

"Um... I'll just learn to fight by myself!! And I'll figure out my power somehow!!" Luffy answers.

"Suit yourself." said Rin while shrugging.

"I'll become really strong then you believe me!!" yelled Luffy.

"Yeah sure. Here's your drink sir." Rin says while serving drinks to customer.

"Hmph!!" Luffy makes an angry sound. "AH!! I know why don't you train with me Rin!!!" Luffy asked.

"What!! No way!! I'm busy." Rin stated.

"Please!?! I don't wanna train alone!!" Luffy beg.

"Look why don't you just train alone for a few weeks or months then I might think about it." Rin said.

"Hmm... okay." Luffy says in a sad tone.

"After few weeks can you join me train then??" Luffy asked.

"I said I might consider it but that's all." Rin says to Luffy.

"Fine..." Luffy says while sighing.

Rin is only gonna work for a few more weeks. After that she plans to check on the system then trains a little before Luffy meet Ace. However she doesn't want to train with Luffy because she don't wanna disturb the plot when Luffy's grandfather, Monkey D Garp bring Luffy to Ace.
