The start of the first game.

The screen disappears and after about five minutes, the world fades out, then fades back in as David finds himself in a forest. Before he has the chance to look around a mocking, impish voice says in his mind.

[Congratulations David!] [You avoided the curse! How lucky...?]

"Who is that? Show yourself!" David says with a loud voice, trying to seem calm as he looks around.

He sees trees, taller than any man made object, though this comes as no surprise, thinking of the arena he was sitting in before. He sees dried bushes filled with thorns and a small squirrel-like creature climbing one of the trees.

[I'm the system David! The one that god said he would give everyone.]

The voice answers.

'God huh' David scoffs in his mind. [Regardless of your limited, human perception, he is indeed a god!] The voice ridicules. "You can hear my thoughts?" David questions.

[Yes. As i am currently sitting beside your soul catching a thought is child's play!] The voice brags.

"Nevermind that." David dismisses. "You said that I avoided the curse?"

[Yes. You got lucky this time.] The voice answers. "Nice!" David exclaims. 'Then i just gotta find a place to hide until it's over!' David thinks to himself.

'What a coward.' the voice thinks.

[First off you have to choose a weapon though David.]The voice says.

"What do you mean?" David responds before the screen once again appears, only to show:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please choose your weapon.
1. Battle worn hatchet.
2. Roman noble's bejeweled sword.
3. German infantry halberd.
4. U.S army knife.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

David stops to think for a second before asking:

"Do i just press on the screen, the one that i want or...?"

[You say the number that you want out loud.] The voice answers patiently.

'It's got to be the knife then right?' 'It's the only one I've used before.'

'What the hell even is a halberd?'He thinks to himself seemingly forgetting that the voice can hear his thoughts as well.

As he hears footsteps approaching from behind him the fear that was forgotten for a second is brought back in full force. He turns around and shouts: "NUMBER 4!"

As the knife appears in his dominant hand he looks at his presumed attacker. A middle aged Indian man holding a sword.

He sees that the man is holding the sword from above his head so he waits for the man to swing before moving to the right.

After he moves he quickly stabs the man in the shoulder to disarm him.

As the knife goes through the mans skin and muscle, stopping when it hits a bone, the man screams in agony and drops his sword before realizing his mistake.

As he moves to pick up the sword again David delivers a kick to his stomach before pushing him over and stomping on his back and head.

David stops after the man curls up into a ball to protect himself and pulls the knife out of the mans shoulder with a mild degree of difficulty. The man moans in pain. David moves back a few feet.

"GET UP!" David screams, pointing the knife at the man.

"PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD AND GET UP!" The man does as he thinks David says, too afraid to say a word as he wets himself, thinking that his life is over.

"HANDS BEHIND YOUR HEAD!" David screams readying his knife, a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead.

The man slowly lifts his hands above his head seemingly not quite understanding what David had said.

'Good enough.' David thinks as he looks above the mans head and sees some words, written in red.

(Aarav Batra) (Human)

David thinks for a bit before saying " Turn around!" The man complies. "What does it say above my head?" David asks.

"W-what?" The man questions. "Just answer the question!" David demands. "P-please my English n-not so good!" The man answers truthfully. David ponders before pointing his finger above the mans head.

"Aarav Batra." He then points at his own head gesturing for the man to speak. The man is slightly shocked before muttering a brief prayer before speaking. "D-David Baird?" David nods approvingly. David points above Aarav's head and speaks again. "Human."

Aarav understands what David is getting at at this point. "Maanav" He says.

'I'll assume it means human' David thinks to himself.

David then asks "Color?" "C-color uhh... color eh white?" Aarav answers, unsure.

'Does the red mean that he is cursed then?' 'That would explain why he attacked me' David ponders.

They stare at eachother for a few seconds in silence.

'What the fuck do I do now?' David thinks, an anxiety greater than ever before filling his body. 'I can't just kill him right?' 'But with wounds like that he's probably gonna get killed anyways...'

'There's no way I'm letting him pick up that sword again either, no way!' 'He tried to fucking kill me!'

...

...

...

'I should let him go.' He decides 'I don't want to be a murderer...'

[How cowardly.] The voice scoffs. "What did you say?!" David shouts in anger, suddenly remembering that the voice can read his thoughts, while also causing the Indian man to cower in fear. As Aarav notices that David is distracted he waits for an opportunity.

[If he's gonna die anyways why not just kill him right now and save him the suffering?]

'Shut up, demon!' David says to the voice, in his mind.

[There's no way out for him. He either kills someone or dies himself.] 'I told you to shut up!'

[The same goes for you!]

[Do you really think you can make it out of this game alive without killing someone?]

...

...

...

'Of course i don't... I just can't take it.' David thinks as he closes his eyes and tears start to well up.

[Pathetic. Selfish. Cowardly.] The voice reprimands, bringing Davids anxiety to a maximum. As he notices his error he opens up his eyes to see Aarav moving towards his sword.

Out of instinct and panic David lunges at Aarav, knife in hand. Aarav sees David lunging at him and instead of going for the sword turns around to receive him. As they collide, the knife failing to hit Aaravs body, they start to wrestle.

As Aarav is a bit bigger than David he gets the upper hand, choking David with both his hands as David lies on the ground, on his back. David, who had dropped the knife at this point, grabs the hands depriving him of air before shoving his index and middle finger into Aaravs shoulder wound, causing Aarav immense pain.

Aarav shouts before releasing his hands as David gasps and reverses their positions. Grabbing the knife that he had dropped David stabs towards Aaravs throat. Aarav noticing this puts his forearms in front of his face and throat, trying to protect himself.

The knife moves into Aaravs arms, slicing muscles and tendons before being readied to stab again. Aarav screams out for help in all languages known to him, hoping that someone will save him.

After the 78th stab, Aarav starts losing all the strength in his body from blood loss, His mangled forearms no longer feeling anything as they fall lifelessly. He utters his last words before the knife brings him to his end.

"No..." He says weakly, his life flashing before his eyes, his regrets unfulfilled, his life unfairly taken from him without any warning, chance of reprieve, closure or peace of mind.

As the knife embeds itself into his throat there is only one thought present in his mind.

' I don't want to die!'

As David looks at the eyes of Aarav slowly losing their light, tears rolling down the side of Aaravs face he starts to regain his sanity. "Oh god..." he says. As the realization dawns on him he cannot help himself. He starts bawling like a baby just born.
