The first meeting.

''Who's Alvida?'' David asks Ben.

''She's a famous pirate! At least around these parts.'' Ben answers.

''But never mind that!''

''This is where Luffy's first fight takes place!''

''Please captain let us watch!'' Jingfei begs.

''Is she strong?'' David asks.

''No, not really. She has this huge iron club though!'' Jingfei responds.

''Huge iron club? Sounds nice!''

''Tommy! Take care of these two for a minute!''

''Aye aye captain!'' Tommy responds.

'Now... Let's get over there!'

David runs to the front of the ship and jumps off.

*Splash!*

He swims over to the other side of the island and creeps into the woods until he comes near the front of the ship, proceeding to hide in some bushes.

*Chatter*

He hears voices talking nearby him and decides to move a little closer so he can hear.

''...Wouldn't happen to have a dinghy would you? Mine got sucked into a giant whirlpool.'' A young mans voice says.

''You got sucked into a giant whirlpool!?'' An, a bit more boyish voice says back.

'Who's this? Crew?' David asks himself.

''Yeah, it caught me by surprise!''

''You're lucky to be alive!''

'No... That doesn't seem right...'

''...But if it's a dinghy you want, I have one... Sorta...''

'Maybe... It's the main character!'

He sneakily follows after them, hiding behind bushes and trees.

''What's this!? A coffin?''

''I built it myself. It took me two years...''

David continues listening to the boys talking then...

*Kresh!*

''Who are you going to capture, runt!?''

''Aaaah!!!''

'Oh! It's finally kicking up a notch!' David thinks to himself.

''My boat!'' The boy cries out.

The situation continues as the two parties bicker back and forth until...

'Oh! She's gonna start attacking soon!' he thinks to himself, becoming excited.

He jumps out of the bushes at the big woman and delivers a quick roundhouse kick to the woman's nose.

*Bang!*

She flies a couple of meters backwards and lands on her back, foaming at the mouth, a small amount of blood leaking out of her nose.

''R-Roronoa Zoro!'' The men standing behind Alvida scream out in fear.

''Huh!? Who're you?'' The young man asks David in confusion.

'So... Weak...' David ignores the young man and walks towards the iron mace, disappointed, and picks it up.

'At least i got a nice consolation price.' He thinks to himself, trying to cheer up.

''Oy! I asked you who you are!'' The young man shouts back at David.

''L-Luffy!'' The little boy shouts at the young man.

''Huh? Who's this little runt?'' David responds.

He looks back and sees a young man with black hair and a scar under his left eye. He's a little shorter than David, but reaches his height with the straw hat he's wearing.

'Isn't this...?' David ponders.

''You answer first.'' The young man responds with a frown.

''...I'm David.''

''Luffy.''

'As I thought!'

''Why'd you steal my fight!?'' Luffy roars out at David.

''Your fight!?'' David says back, confused.

''Yeah! I wanted to beat that old biddy up!'' Luffy responds.

''...''

David looks at the young man with a dumbfounded expression for a few seconds before responding.

''Well, too late now.''

David starts leaving, putting the club into his inventory and carrying Alvida over his shoulder.

''I'll be taking these with me if you don't mind.''

He stops and thinks for a spell, feeling like he forgot something.

'...Wait. How am i going to get back?'

He turns around and looks right at the group of pirates.

''!!!'' They jump in fear.

''You don't happen to have a dinghy, do you?''

'How the hell did it end up like this...'

''Hey! You have to join my crew!''

David looks over at the young man with a glare Before looking back towards his ship.

*Sigh*

''I'm dropping you off at the nearest marine base and then you can do whatever you'd like!''

''Come on! Just join my crew.'' Luffy gives David a big smile.

The dinghy gets to the side of David's boat and they get on. David stores the dinghy in his inventory.

''Whoa! How'd you do that!'' Luffy asks.

''Devil fruit.'' David answers stoically.

''Wow, That's cool!''

''I ate one of those too! Look I'm made of rubber! Bleeeh!'' He grabs the sides of his mouth and stretches them to ridiculous lengths.

''I don't care.'' David responds, annoyed at Luffy's constant yapping.

''You're no fun...''

As the day moves by David takes Alvida into his quarters and drinks some of her blood.

'Hoh...! It's not much but I feel a tiny bit stronger now...'

Another night passes and in the morning the crew arrive at the marines base. In the meantime Luffy and Coby talked a lot with Ben, Jingfei and Tommy while David mostly stayed in his quarters, training and finding ways to become stronger.

''We're finally at the marines base!!'' Luffy shouts out.

''Yep!! Finally!!'' Coby shares in the excitment.

''You're amazing Tommy!''

''No! It really wasn't all that hard...'' Tommy responds.

''You should join my crew!''

''Huh!? N-No I can-''

*Slam!*

David rushes out of his quarters.

''Hey! Don't try and steal my crew mates you little rascal!''

''Y-Yeah! Besides, I promised my dad...''

''Oh... Well you can't break a promise!'' Luffy responds with a big smile.

''Whatever! Let's go eat!'' Jingfei suggests.

''Yes!! Food!!'' Luffy responds.

''Huh? You're staying here. You guys can go though and do whatever you want.'' David says, shooing Luffy and Coby away.

''Huh? No way! I'm not leaving until you join my crew!''

''...Not even for food?''

''You have food on your ship.'' Luffy responds nonchalantly.

David's face forms a grimace akin to a self-portrait made by a critically acclaimed artist who just got cheated on with his own father.

''...Fine! Let's go eat.'' David responds, fed up.

''Yay!! So this means you'll join my crew?''

After they finish eating David walks over to the sheriff's office with Alvida over his shoulder to turn in the bounty while Luffy and Coby sneak over to where Zoro is being held.

''Hello. I'd like to turn in a bounty.''

''Yes!'' The clerk responds in a panic.

''Let's see here... Who's bounty would you like to turn in?''

''Iron club Alvida.'' David responds and takes her off his shoulder and throws her on the ground.

*Slam!*

''Yes... I can see you have her right there...'' The clerk responds.

''Let me call in my superior officer.''

The clerk moves into a room behind the registry and another older, more experienced looking man comes out.

''Hello, my name is Ripper.'' The man stretches out a hand in greetings.

''David.'' David responds, shaking the man's hand.

''So I heard you'd like to turn in the bounty for Iron Club Alvida?''

''Yes.''

The man motions for the other marines to take Alvida away and gives David five million berries.

''So, what would you like to be called?'' Ripper asks.

''Huh? Oh, Just David is fine.'' David responds.

''Ok, David it is.''

David moves back towards the boat after stocking back up on food and water and walks by Luffy smacking a weird pompous looking man in the face.

*Smack!*

''Coby, I've decided...''

'...'

'Well, it's got nothing to do with me.'

''Hey! Stubborn guy!'' Luffy shouts at David.

''!''

'I'll just ignore him...'

''Hey I said! Che... Whatever.''

David walks back to his boat and Luffy and Coby go to talk to Zoro.

'Finally got rid of that guy...' David thinks to himself.

[Yeah! Even I was starting to get annoyed. Joining his crew might not be a bad option though. From what I've heard from that other human it seems that he will grow to become a formidable ally.]

'And I'll get caught up in a bunch of crazy shenanigans and possibly die!' David responds.
