Are You Wondering What’s Happening?

It was night. Far in the distance, there was a deserted bus station.

On the lonely streets nearby, there were no cars or people to be seen. No matter how much one strained their eyes to observe what was happening in the distance, nothing but solitude was visible.

The sky was so hazy that it seemed like a day filled with low positive emotions—a somber atmosphere, without a doubt. The rain made it even more unbearable to be outside, but at that moment, from all directions, a group of people gathered in the center of a large public garden.

There weren't many people—around five individuals who were probably tourists.

The deterioration of this garden, which should originally be very lively and green, was very evident—whether it was due to the dry bushes, the paint on the benches, or the general neglect of the place, it looked like years had passed without any maintenance.

For anyone who had never been in a place alone late at night, this was the moment for many to fear that some serial killer might come out to hunt their victims.

Ordinary people usually watch many movies and associate those events with real life. For some, this might sound ironic, but there are others who live in different countries where the night is a portal for anyone to kill you and get away with it.

This, therefore, caused fear in some people, who eventually had to move to the most visible corners to have control of their surroundings without exposing themselves too much to the dangers.

The strangest thing about these people was that they were letting themselves get wet in the rain.

At the same time, all the people were looking in one direction. Under the curtain of rain, about 30 meters away, there was a man holding an umbrella.

The man was motionless and had been in that position for 10 minutes.

Just when the people around, who seemed not to know where they were, were whispering words, the man suddenly moved and walked towards the dilapidated pergola.

To the surprise of many, this man, with a well-proportioned figure and good looks, seemed to be someone kind. The upper part of his body wore a work jacket that was obviously several sizes larger than his actual body size, but it fit him well.

"Another damn stranger?" Among the crowd of people was a boy hiding in a bush; his name was Jonathan Bailey, and he knew nothing about what was happening.

Is this the limbo that many have talked about?

The gathering of the dead, apparently...

From what Jonathan understood, he had died while performing a low-risk surgery on a criminal. That bastard ended up stabbing him with a sharp weapon, burying it in his neck.

It wasn't a surprise for Jonathan; this was something that could happen when he decided to treat that criminal. When you're a doctor, you fight against death, and it's at your own whim. Death is very eager to take a doctor who defies the nature of life in an equal fight.

The only reason to step forward in his situation was because he wanted to find out what would happen to the criminal, to see if he could beat his death, but instead, death took him.

To be honest, Jonathan was a very observant man, despite now being in the body of a child for reasons he did not know. Immediately upon arriving here, he knew something bad was happening because the people here seemed scared, and he knew perfectly well when something very bad was about to happen.

If he was in a place after being killed, then that means he wasn't here to make friends or live a second chance given the circumstances.

Not alive, but not dead either—something in between where he could still do something for survival.

As a doctor, he knew his pulse was slowing down. He didn't feel safe; he was scared and distrustful of everyone in this place, but for some reason, he was very calm, as if none of the above were affecting his behavior.

His muscles felt full of energy; the strength of his body was increasing, and he didn't know why. Do they now have to face off among those here to see who has a chance to keep living?

A second chance...

Jonathan was actually the only one who thought this way; everyone else except him had completely denied that they had died, thinking this place was just a bad dream.

What more can be demanded of today's society?

"It's been two hours already."

This place was dangerous, and Jonathan knew it; he had to get out of here, but certainly being alone was much more dangerous than with these people, who were most likely in the same situation as him.

Right now, he was in the body of a ten-year-old child; staying away from the adults he could manipulate would be very foolish on his part.

At least here, he would take advantage of his strengths and balance his weaknesses.

Putting aside his personal thoughts, Jonathan is a person who usually ignores worrying issues to focus on survival.

The rain flowed through the leaves of the bush, and he managed to stay dry because it wasn't raining hard enough to get soaked.

"What the hell is this place?"

Jonathan shook his head and thought, "That's the worst question you could have asked, idiot, but now I'll know much more thanks to your stupid question."

"Where do you come from?"

"The year is important; we all have different clothes, so it would be good to know."

"Don't ask stupid questions." A bearded and muscular man looked at the girl who hadn't stopped talking when the man asked about this place, and then his eyes stayed fixed on the shoes of the man who had just asked the question.

That man looked at those shoes, so he ordered, "Give me your shoes, and I might not break your neck, you damn sicko."

"This is the fourteenth," Jonathan thought as he remained inside the bush.

Having observed this place for a long time, Jonathan didn't look at anyone else near the center at that moment. During this time, he knew that besides the fifteen-year-old girl, the bearded old man, and a forty-year-old woman, everyone else could easily kill him.

There are gangsters, thugs, mobsters, and apparently a hitman.

How did he know?

As a doctor, Jonathan had treated the worst scum in the world and had learned to identify them just by looking at them.

The one he could manipulate was the forty-year-old woman; she seemed to look younger, but she obviously had medical treatment to appear younger.

The only and outstanding difference among all of them was that their clothes were different. Not knowing if they also have another body makes things difficult for Jonathan, who was just looking for survival possibilities.

Jonathan scanned the faces of the people in front of him one by one and finally fixed his gaze on the bearded man, then asked, "Can you answer that man's question?"

The man looked at Jonathan, who had just come out of a bush. Those tearful eyes and lost look broke the heart of that man, who had previously spoken badly and said, "I don't know much more than all of you, but what I'm sure of is that we won't all get out alive."

Jonathan, who had decided to come out of the bush, nodded, indicating to others that he had understood. "So, if no one knows why we're here, do you have any idea what to do?"

The man Jonathan was asking was about to answer when, at that moment, a clear voice from the man who hadn't moved said, "You must escape, or else you will die."
