Chapter 5. She's Just A Brat

Timothy White slammed the document he was reading onto the table with a worn-out sigh. He tried his hardest to focus, but it was impossible. He couldn't stop thinking about Megan—their intense night together, the way he treated her badly the following morning, and the tears in her eyes when he yelled insults at her. The more he witnessed her crying and realized he was the cause of her sorrow, the more he despised himself and felt bad for not going to the restroom to apologize to her.

Timothy hasn't stopped thinking about Megan since that evening. He was going insane since she was all he saw in his fantasies.

He made an effort to forget her by asking one of his flings to meet him in a hotel, but for some reason, he was unable to arouse his desire for her. After a brief moment of kissing, he paused in the middle when he realized he wanted more.

He was missing the warmth, desire, and burning passion he felt when he was with Megan. Megan has undoubtedly ruined him for other women. When his intercom rang, Timothy was startled out of his trance by the news that David, his best friend, is visiting him.

When David entered, he was shocked by what he saw.

"Have you had any quality sleep lately? You actually look like sh*t." David asked as he sat across Timothy.

"You think I was making a joke when I said I don't understand what's going on with me anymore?" Timothy mumbled before burying his face in his hands.

David laughs, "Karma is dealing with you now."

"I'm not joking David. I truly can't do anything without thinking about her. This is so surprising and strange. I'm never been this clingy about any woman I'm being intimate with."

When David examined his best friend more closely, he noticed a tiny bulge on the left side of his face. "She did that?" David asked while attempting to contain his laughter.

Timothy disregarded. He poured himself a glass of wine and drank it in a gulp. On his way out of the hotel, he stopped by the hospital. Thankfully, he meets his doctor, who looked at the bulge. The last thing Timothy had on his mind that morning was going to the hospital. He eventually went there though since he had a real feeling of discomfort on the left side of his face and wanted to get rid of the small bulge because he was very meticulous about how he looked.

He was given painkillers by the doctor. She prescribed an ointment for the bulge as well. Timothy applied the ointment religiously, but the awful bulge just wouldn't fade right away. To him, it appeared as though the bulge was growing larger and larger every day. Timothy feared the bulge might turn into a scar. He didn't want anything that would ruin his face.

"I phoned Laura thinking that if I had a good time with her, I'll be able to forget about Megan, but I couldn't even go past kissing and hugging her. It wasn't the same, Timothy said. Megan and I had this kind of connection. We had a burning need between us."

David had the largest smile on his face. It appeared as though he had discovered something that his best friend was still unaware of. He was happy to be alive to witness the day when Timothy would actually feel this way since he knew that day would arrive.

"Just accept it to yourself, you like her."

Timothy chuckled, "You've got to be kidding me. I've never been able to get along with anyone, especially Megan. Do you know how frequently she called me a bastard and a dumbass?"

Timothy and David shared a strong relationship. Every detail is shared between them. For some reason, he sensed that this Megan was unique, and he was certain that she was the one for Timothy. Timothy had never been with a woman who has the courage to challenge him or insult him. Overall, he was happy that his best friend was once again passionate about the other sex and thought that was a good thing.

"Perhaps if you hadn't said those nasty things to her, she wouldn't have said those things to you," David remarked.

"If only you had accompanied me to the club, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to meet her at all," Timothy complained.

"I had to find time for my girlfriend," David shrugged. "In addition, I don't think it matters whether or not I'm present for that time. Your Mystery girl had to be at the bar."

"I won't deny that she was unusual, but I don't do relationships anymore and I don't feel anything for women. The most shocking thing is that she had no idea who I was. I was kind of hurt because no one had ever rejected me or said they didn't know me."

"I'm sure Megan will want my money, just like the others, once she finds out about my status."

David's best friend seemed so smug and full of himself, that David shook his head in disbelief. He is certain that Timothy needed someone like Megan in his life, and makes absolutely sure that she puts him in his place.

"Do you like the thought of Megan sleeping with another man?" he asked.

"She wouldn't dare!"

A familiar smile grew upon David's lips as Timothy blurted out in a domineering tone. Timothy's face was filled with rage.

He hadn't given Megan with the other men much thought, but after David asked the question he realized he wasn't at ease with it. For some reason, he felt glad that he was the first guy to have slept with Megan, and the idea of another man having with her made him furiously anxious. Timothy shuddered and buried his face in his hands. He had been severely beaten. He would have to wait a while before truly being able to forget about her.

"Timothy, I'm your best friend, and I need you to be open with me. Do you have any affection for Megan?"

"No," he firmly retorted.

To David's accusing looks, he answered, "Okay, fine, maybe a bit."

"I sincerely regret saying those things to her and acting rudely the following morning. But I took the necessary action. Perhaps, if I can get her to spend one more night with me, I will be able to forget her after that."

David shook his head in astonishment, Timothy was really a jerk.

Timothy's secretary entered the room and interrupted them by entering with a white envelope.

She handed him the envelope and said, "Someone from the bar dropped this for you, sir."

It came from the bar he frequented to visit.

When Timothy opened it, he exclaimed, "What the heck?" He found some money inside. In the midst of the cash, he noticed a folded note and looked at it.

"Mr. Dumbass, I don't need your money. You can go to hell with your money. I hope in the future we don't run into each other again. People like you don't belong on this planet."

Before David began to chuckle, Timothy was unaware that he had read aloud the phrases that appeared to have been written in rage on the paper. Despite not having met Megan, David was already in love with her. Hopefully, she will be the one to permanently change his best friend. Finally, Timothy found the one who will not put up with any nonsense from him.

The paper was crumpled before Timothy threw it into the trash can. Nobody has ever turned him down, given his money back, warned him to leave this world, or said he didn't deserve to be here. Her remarks greatly hurt him for an unexpected reason.

"Then what?" given with a smirk playing on his lips, David enquired.

Before it changed to fury, he noticed that Timothy had a hurt expression on his face. His best friend rarely opened up to people and was accustomed to suppressing his emotions.

He muttered, "She's just a spoiled brat, I'll deal with her my way."

"Timothy, you need to calm down. Now that you know, you can tell she doesn't want your wealth."

"I don't like her, I'll be over with her in a few more days."

"If you like her, I advise you do something about it before it's too late."

He made up a story and quickly shifted the conversation. "I'll make sure I meet someone that can satisfy me like her. I'm hoping you'll attend dad's celebration?" David was questioned by Timothy. "It's within a week."

If David was present, he is certain he would make it through the party.

"I've never missed any gathering of your family, so I'm certain to be there. And I'm looking forward to seeing Emma and Lucia again," he grinned. The younger twin sisters of Timothy.

He loved his sisters dearly, despite the vast age difference between them, but those girls could be a headache at times.

"I miss them as well, but I'm hoping something will come up so I can skip Dad's dinner party."

"It's your Dad's party, Tim. You can't be serious."

"I know, I just hope he doesn't bring up the regular discussion about me being old enough to get married. And given that it's his party, I'm certain he'll give me additional justifications for giving him a grandchild."

"And don't you think it's time to settle down and have your own children?" David made a joke.

Timothy rolled his eyes at David and said, "Says the man who isn't married yet. Furthermore, I'm only 34, so I want to live life to the fullest before considering of getting married if I ever will." David sighed deeply.

David used to think of Timothy as the kindest and most compassionate person he had ever met. However, his experience with his ex-girlfriend changed him. He became a cold, callous, and merciless personality and was regarded as the city's top playboy. Due to what his ex did, he began to think negatively of women. Only mingling with them when he desired pleasure, after which he tossed them aside as if they had no value to him. David had a gut feeling that Megan would be able to find a way to change his best friend back. He needs to maybe approach her first.
