Spirit Soul awakening

There were many things Kyle had to do before the Egg of the beginning would be constructed and his Spirit Soul would awaken.

However, killing beasts wasn't one of those things!

As such, he was not pressured as he could simply avoid killing more beasts for now.

Yet, what he couldn't postpone any more was procuring something to eat and drink along with finding a nice place to get some sleep.

While he had already rested for a few hours on the tree top, he had been wide awake while keeping an eye on his surroundings that were filled with unknown dangers.

Hence, it was not comparable to getting a sound sleep without the need to worry about getting attacked while he rested.

Furthermore, Kyle felt uncomfortable running around aimlessly with no means to protect himself.

He was still weak and naked!

However, instead of being worried, Kyle's mind was relatively calm. He didn't even feel any remorse for having killed living beings.

It had been his first time but he had overcome much more than simply killing beings in order to stay alive.

His mind had steeled in his past life owing to brutal life experiences!

Kyle knew that being scared or having mercy would be his death sentence!

That was, at least, the case in his current circumstances. The situation might have been different if he had reincarnated in a highly populated region with multiple human races!

After escaping from the anthill, he had rubbed mud all over himself to remove the blood that had splattered on him.

At the same time, it proved to be an ideal camouflage, helping him to merge with the surroundings, further hiding his insignificant appearance!

There were several fruits hanging down from large trees which Kyle saw everywhere, including mouth-watering berries.

As such, Kyle didn't have to be afraid of dehydrating or starving as long as he was able to find out what he could eat without getting poisoned.

Several hours had passed and Kyle climbed up a tree. He was sitting on a large tree branch that was more than ten meters above the ground.

Until now he hadn't seen many flying beasts or beasts that used the large trees to move around.

During the last few hours, he had encountered a few monkeys swinging around the large trees from one branch to another.

Yet, instead of attacking him, they had harvested a few fruits before throwing them at him.

After that one of them took a few bites of a fruit to show him that the fruits were not poisoned and were safe to eat.

This confused Kyle, because he hadn't expected such an intelligent behavior from beasts at the Fortification stage.

What he had failed to realize earlier was that foreign races without a cultivation background were also intelligent.

Had this not been the case, the Yadras race would have been long since annihilated in his past life!

With that in mind, Kyle took a small bite of the fruit only to notice that it was extremely sweet and savory.

In less than a minute, he finished the entire fruit and was hungry for more. As such, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and looked around.

However, the monkeys had left him and were not there anymore.

Driven by hunger, he used his entire strength to climb up the tree to pluck more fruits, quench his thirst, and rest.

It was arduous but oddly relaxing and the tension weighing him down had dissipated.

Having found something to eat that quenched his thirst too along with an okayish place to rest, Kyle was at a loss about what to do next.

He could either wait for the next three days before the Egg of the beginning would be fully constructed or do something productive!

Because the former was boring and a waste of time, he chose the latter. Kyle was someone who liked to work hard, thus he decided that he might as well improve his miserable physical state!

It took him more than 20 minutes to climb up the tree, and his entire body had been aching for quite some time!

This was something Kyle couldn't accept as his body was the most important asset he currently owned.

In the end, he couldn't even effectively utilize his weapons because his body was too weak!

Owing to this, he was forced to target the opponent beasts' injuries instead of fighting them head-on.

Thus, Kyle told himself that he would become physically stronger, even if he were to stay without a cultivation foundation!

Even after one started cultivating, their physical well-being was important.

It might be looked down upon because one could simply cultivate to become stronger, but Kyle knew that maintaining a healthy body was essential.

Being fat or too skinny would hinder one from being agile and restrict certain types of movements, while the same applied to an overly muscular body.

There had to be a perfect balance in everything!

If he could learn to utilize his accumulated strength perfectly due to a trained physique, the efforts would be worth the benefits.

The same applied to the usage of one's cultivated energy!

With that in mind, he focussed on improving his physical strength and didn't even realize that three days had passed.

Kyle's physique improved by a small margin and his soul had fully adjusted to his new body.

The small backpack next to him was filled with fruits, the sand wolf's fangs, stones, vines, and both of his weapons made out of the boar's tusks.

Right now, he was eagerly awaiting the moment that could only be described as 'life-changing'.

If he were to reflect on his past and sift through the memories right until the moment he had reincarnated, Kyle was certain that he had never felt as excited as he was right now!

His heart was hammering loudly against his ribcage, making it momentarily impossible for him to even hear anything else.

As he patiently waited, the last traces of disintegrated souls lingering around the Egg of the beginning were absorbed.

Kyle tried to perceive how the Egg of the beginning looked like.

Unfortunately, the only thing he could sense was that it was similar to an ordinary goose egg of a goose, nothing more or less!

Suddenly, after a few moments had passed, the Egg of the beginning seemed to have been fully constructed.

Without any warning, small, and almost intractable small runes began to spread over his bare chest.

Numerous runes appeared all of a sudden, but Kyle was unable to pay attention to his bare chest as he felt a painful itch released by the Egg from the beginning.

Only a few seconds had passed but Kyle's face was drenched in cold sweat.

He was gritting his teeth to prevent making even the slightest noise that might attract the surrounding beasts' attention.

As he endured the pain, a golden egg that fits into Kyle's hand emerged from the center of his chest.

Other than its size that was ordinary, the Egg of the beginning seemed to be miraculous.

The aura it radiated was unique and something Kyle had never sensed from the Cultivators he had encountered in his past life!

At the same time, Kyle, who had never been able to sense energy fluctuations, perceived something!

His eyes were trained on the Egg of the beginning, and he was able to see faint traces of unknown energy floating around it!

This exhilarated Kyle as his fingers began to tremble in excitement.

It was as if he was in a trance, gazing at the Egg of the beginning, that was golden in color and whose shell was filled with numerous, complex, and primordial-looking inscriptions.

All of a sudden, Kyle's whole body began to ache as pain shot up from the center of his chest.

Unsure of what was happening he could hardly suppress the fear that had overwhelmed his excitement as his eyes widened in shock.

At that moment, faint cracks began to spread through the Egg of the beginning's outer shell, and Kyle's body felt like it was about to tear itself apart.

His mind was filled with terror and worry of the unknown.

'Did I do something wrong? Is that normal during a Spirit Soul awakening? Am I going to die? I REFUSE TO GIVE UP!!'
