Chapter 44: The Investigation Progresses

"Your heartbeat is indeed very youthful. You are not even 18 years old yet, kid." Daredevil suddenly interjected.

Peter: ??(°Д°)ゞ

Why is there a monster here who can tell his age from the sound of his heartbeat? So scary!

Daredevil reached up and tapped his eyepiece, explaining, "I lost something, so I gained something else."

Peter was puzzled at first, until he noticed the lenses on Daredevil's mask were completely sealed shut. This meant the person inside could not actually see outside. This was obviously not a typical costume design.

So Daredevil was blind?

Of course, Peter held no prejudice against blind people. On the contrary, after learning of Ddevil's blindness, he felt a sense of awe.

For an ordinary able-bodied person to achieve such feats was no easy task, let alone for someone with a physical disability.

"Kid, why did you come to me? Did you also want to try and stop me like this guy?" The Punisher asked in an unkind tone, gesturing towards the tied up man.

Daredevil also "looked" towards Peter. Although blind, Daredevil's other four senses - hearing, touch, taste, and smell - had all been enhanced to an epic level.

Later, after training under Stick, he perfectly mastered his condition and developed his body's potential to the limit. Although unable to see, these abilities gave him a sort of radar sense, allowing him to accurately track moving objects.

He had even evolved a radar-like sixth sense. This was even better than Spider-Man's spider-sense. When fully developed, it enabled him to sense any corner of Hell's Kitchen while sitting quietly at home!

Peter waved his hands quickly. He didn't want to get into a conflict with this violent, foul-mouthed man who killed without batting an eye.

He pointed at the energy cannon in Punisher's hand and said, "Actually, I'm here for this."

The Punisher glanced down and frowned, "For this?"

"Yeah," Peter nodded. "I'd like to ask, Mr. Castle, where did you get this weapon from?"

The Punisher squinted at Peter, and a dangerous aura began to emanate from him, "You want to buy this kind of weapon?"

"No, no," Peter shook his head quickly. He felt that if he nodded, this guy might blast him into a charcoal spider-crisp. "In fact, I also found these strange energy weapons in Queens. They're threatening the safety of the residents. I think someone must be making them, so I'm investigating this matter."

Peter had wanted to say he was an Avenger trainee on a mission from Tony Stark. But recalling that the Punisher had applied and been rejected from joining the Avengers, he decided against mentioning it. What if this violent, venomous man was petty and jealous of him?

Hearing Peter's explanation, the serious look on the Punisher's face softened slightly as he said, "These things were snatched from the Irish Mob members not long ago."

As he spoke, he kicked the corpse of Grotto on the ground, adding, "This guy should be the last member of the Irish Mob. You're a step too late."

Peter regretted watching the show just now. He should have intervened earlier, at least to get some leads first. Unfortunately, it was too late for regrets now.

Daredevil suddenly said, "Similar weapons have also been found with the Hellhound gang."

"Hellhound?"

"You guys, do you really think my patience is unlimited?" The Punisher angrily challenged Daredevil.

Then he rushed towards the edge of the building.

Peter was stunned for a moment, then quickly reacted. The behavior of the two men showed one thing: members of the Hellhound's were nearby!

Peter rushed towards the Punisher, shooting out strands of webbing to first stick the energy cannon in his hand so he couldn't reach the trigger, then pulled him back.

"Brother, can you at least wait until I finish asking?" Although the Punisher was repeatedly pulled back, he stubbornly insisted, "There's no time to delay in punishing criminals. Delaying will only increase the incidents!"

"Yes, yes, yes," Peter said as he pushed him against the chimney where he'd originally tied up Daredevil, binding him with webbing.

"Dammit, let me go!" the Punisher roared.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely let you go. Then you can do whatever you want." Peter smiled slyly. "But only after I finish asking my questions."

"You little bastard!" The Punisher's expression seemed threatening, as if he wanted to devour Peter.

However, as just an ordinary man, how could the Punisher possibly overpower Peter? The difference in physical abilities left him with no capacity to resist.

Peter ignored him and turned to look at Daredevil, "Mr. Daredevil, could you please keep an eye on him?"

Daredevil quirked his lips, "Don't worry, this guy tied me up earlier, now the tables have turned."

Peter felt goosebumps rise all over his body. "Ah, this..."

Daredevil's super senses detected Peter's emotional fluctuations. He responded wryly, "I'm not a pervert."

"You can even pick up on what I'm thinking?" Peter was even more surprised.

"Pick up? What kind of description is that?" Daredevil asked doubtfully. "I can indeed sense mood swings, changes in heart rate, body temperature, and breathing. When a person's mood shifts, these all provide corresponding feedback. You'll know when you're as blind as me."

Peter waved his hands repeatedly, "Thank you, I don't want to be blind."

He finally saw that Daredevil was an optimist. He didn't view being blind as some unspeakable affliction, even making jokes about it. Hmm, quite an interesting person.

Peter waved again, then jumped down from the edge of the building. Daredevil had pointed him towards an abandoned residential building just below where the Hellhound gang was based.

Peter snuck in quietly. With his spider-sense, he could easily bypass all the gangsters without alerting anyone. Soon, he found a few who seemed to be the ringleaders.

After some questioning, Peter obtained the information he wanted. The weapons manufacturer was indeed in New York, but not in Manhattan or Queens - rather in Brooklyn!

The person who had sold them the weapons was not Adrian Toomes, but a guy who called himself "Shocker". This man wore a gauntlet on his hand that could emit shockwaves capable of directly crushing human bones.
