2: Celestial Fruit + System

"Ewww," Eren suddenly felt an extremely disgusting taste in his mouth, but he swallowed what he had just eaten anyway.

'What has this shitty world done to me? Why is the first sensation I feel in my new life a rancid taste? This is probably the worst thing I have ever eaten.'

Suddenly, Eren felt the second sensation of his new life, which was a splitting headache that made him wish he was dead. He could only curl up on the floor, not knowing how much time had passed since he had laid down. Memories that felt like his own and not his own at the same time assaulted his head, trying to enter his brain.

It took at least 15 minutes for Eren to finally collect his thoughts and realize that he was now in the body of an 8-year-old child named Eren C. Birka, the prince of the Kingdom of Birka.

'It seems that I have lived the last 8 years without my memories of Earth, but how did that happen?' Just as he was wondering that, something else suddenly entered his mind.

[Apologies for the troubles, host. It seems that there was a slight error in the merging of soul and body, which caused you to not be able to unlock your previous memories for the past 8 years.]

Eren was startled when he suddenly saw something he hadn't expected. 'I thought the will of the world said that I wouldn't get a system, so how come you're here?'

[The will of the world was joking...sort of. After all, I'm not a system in the classical sense, but more like an information gathering tool].

'So what are you even able to do then?' Eren asked, wondering what this system was capable of if it couldn't grant him any power ups.

[My abilities include creating a map of every place you've ever been to, displaying information about items like Devil Fruits or Swords, and classifying the combat power of enemies you've already seen fight before].

The system sounded somewhat useful and was more than he had hoped for, but currently Eren had more important things to do. Like going through his newly acquired memories. When he focused on his mind, he was completely surprised and immediately ran to the nearest mirror.

Right now, he was standing in what he remembered as his bedroom, with a huge bed decorated with golden ornaments. He looked at himself in the body-sized mirror and saw that his height had already reached almost 160cm at the age of 6.

The most striking thing about him, however, was the set of 7 drums with yin-yang symbols that seemed to grow out of his back. His face was extremely handsome. He still carried slightly childish features, with deep blue eyes and sharp eyebrows. His hair was a deep black and he had beautiful lips with a slightly too small nose.

The most important thing thought, were his ears. Or rather what was missing from them. Eren touched both of his ears intensively, before breathing out in relief. He truly didn't have ridiculously long earlobes.

That's right, as far as he could tell, he was probably the brother of Enel, the future 'God' of Skypiea and wielder of the Goro-Goro no mi. He was currently 25 years old, as it was the year 1510 of the Sea Circle Calendar. 12 years before Luffy would start his journey. This also meant that Eren was only one year older than Luffy.

In his past life, Eren had some pretty solid knowledge about the One Piece world, so he knew that Enel would find the Goro Goro no mi in 4 years, if everything went according to the story. Theoretically, he would also destroy Birka at that time, but Eren wouldn't let that happen.

What would make Enel destroy his home and kill most of its inhabitants though? In the original story, Eren also didn't really remember that Enel had a younger brother, so it might have something to do with his existence. After a short search through his memories, he also came up with a pretty solid theory.

All Birkans, including their parents, usually had small wings on their backs instead of the drums he and Enel showed. According to some historical documents, the drums could only be found among the most talented members of their people, with more drums meaning higher talent, but that was only known to the Birkan royal family.

[Keep in mind that there will be some AU. Oda isn't able to look into the future perfectly after all ;)]

Since there hadn't been anyone like him or Enel for a long time, most of the Birkans treated them like outsiders. Especially after Eren's mother died while giving birth to him, due to complications at birth caused by his large drums.

The most likely explanation is that the Birkans somehow caused the death of the original Eren, which resulted in Eren destroying them in a fit of rage. Even though he's pretty arrogant right now, it's not to the point where he thinks he's a god.

All in all, Eren was actually quite content with his birthplace. In the mostly peaceful Birka, he wouldn't be exposed to many dangers, which meant that he could develop peacefully without having to fear for his life early on.

In addition, he had Enel, whom he could most likely recruit as a powerful subordinate. To have eaten one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in the world, and to have developed Observation Haki to such an extent without any knowledge of it, required a great deal of talent. He was probably no less talented than the Yonko.

'Right now, I need to become stronger. I need to awaken my Haki and train the skills I have with my Devil Fruit. It might be useful to train Enel as well, since he hasn't had any systematic training yet.'

From his memories, Eren found out that his father had been struck by lightning shortly after his birth. Quite ironic. This meant that Enel had been the one taking care of him during the past 8 years.

'System, display my status screen.'

This status screen was already more than enough for Eren, as he mostly liked to have an indicator for his progress. It also seemed to have its own ranking system for overall strength and Devil Fruit mastery.

'By the way, what's the scale for the point system that ranks Devil Fruits and how does it work exactly?'

[The scale goes from -5 to 5. The most ideal ranking scale ever created. It takes into account usefulness, strength, side effects, and limitations. Since your fruit has no side effects, is extremely destructive and useful, and has basically no limitations, it broke the scale.']

'It seems that this fruit is more useful than I thought. I definitely need to find out how exactly it works. But for now, I need to find Enel.'

Eren stepped out of his room into the huge corridor and found his brother standing right in front of him.

"Oh, looks like you finally made it out of your room. I was just about to bring you some food to see how you are doing with your headache." Eren was stunned for a moment, because the Enel in front of him was completely different from the one in the anime. More like a caring older brother.

Eren, who suddenly realized that he had been staring at his brother for way too long, suddenly realized that he was probably acting out of character for an 8 year old and went back into little brother mode.

"Enel, I have something to show you. I just ate some disgusting fruit and now I can do this," Eren said in the sweetest voice he could muster. At the same time, he opened a portal on his left side that led to the courtyard of their mansion.

'I did it on the first try. It seems that the Logia are really more like an extension of your body.' Eren had decided to show off his powers right away, because he knew that no one in Birka had mastered Armament Haki. This meant that even if someone wanted to hurt him, they wouldn't be able to. He also wanted to convince his brother of his strength, so that he would agree to be trained by him.

Enel, who had never seen the power of a Devil Fruit before, was obviously shocked by Eren's performance and immediately worried about his health.

"Are you okay? Do you feel unwell in any way, like a stomach ache or something like that?" Enel went down on his knees to take a closer look at Eren's complexion, but even then he still towered over him with his 266 cm (8'9'').

Since he couldn't see any noticeable signs of illness, he could only give up for now and hope that the powers his brother had just acquired didn't have any side effects.

'At least he doesn't have to be afraid that those Birkans can do anything to him. With this power, he can probably just run away. Although I am afraid that they might treat him even worse if they find out,' Enel thought.

"Listen Eren," the man suddenly spoke to his little brother, "never use this power in front of anyone if you don't need it to defend yourself! Do you understand?"

Eren just nodded his head earnestly, even though he had no intention to follow his words. Right now, he just wanted to show Enel how strong he was at the moment and test his own power. Although Enel might be a bit too weak to force him to go all out.

'System, show me his strength.'

Eren thought again about the strength that Enel had shown in the original One Piece anime. So much wasted potential. If he had just continued, or maybe better said, started training after acquiring the Goro Goro no mi, then Luffy would never have beaten him before the time jump. His arrogance held him back.

The reason why Enel didn't train right now wasn't really arrogance or laziness. He just didn't need to. Since Birka was almost completely isolated from the 4 Blues and the Grand Line, and since he wasn't involved in the conflict between the Shandians and the Skypieans, there was no real need to train.

"Let's go outside, brother, I want to use my power for a bit. How about we have a quick fight? I will try not to hurt you."

Even though Enel didn't have his god complex yet, he was still quite arrogant and obviously felt challenged by Eren. How could he take it when a 8-year-old told him that he would try not to hurt him?

So the two of them went through Eren's portal, stepping into the courtyard, both of them prepared for their fight.
