Prologue

In a large white hall with pillars that had a beautifully engraved spiral pattern adorning them, supporting the roof, hundreds of people and beasts all sat around an ornate white table as they talked amongst themselves.

They were the Great Spirits.

The topic of their discussion was just how bored they were.

That was it, they had been over this multiple times, too many to count.

This time, however, they were finally discussing the idea they had been coming up with for the past couple of years.

Let's do an avatar game.

What's an avatar game you may ask?

An avatar game is where the Great Spirits summon people to compete against the other summons in an attempt to bring fame and glory to their summoner.

The avatar game was an ancient ritual which had not been performed for thousands of years, most of the spirits there hadn't even heard of it.

The original game was created to settle the differences between the founding spirits.

The current one though.

It was for fun.

The current spirits were so terribly bored with the world that they decided to revive this ancient ritual for a bit of entertainment.

The method they chose to perform the summoning was linked item summoning, this was where the spirits chose specific items to insert their power and using this link they would bring the people over to their world.

The problem was, they couldn't put items into another world as it would be beyond their jurisdiction.

To remedy this, they decided to create a way to combine their world with another.

The link took the form of a video game.
