The Wolf and the Lamb

After that day, I decided to just say fuck it and be my old self. I didn't exactly distance myself from Kulu as he was alright, but I wasn't gonna hang out with those geeks. I can't accept myself stooping that low. Sorry geeks.

Maybe I can just be that cool-looking lone wolf in the class. That won't help me make new friends, but some girls fall for those kinda guys.

Ah-, actually that was the case with my ex too. She wasn't part of the delinquents' group and didn't like me hanging out with those guys. But she confessed to me out of blue and one thing led to another and we had seggs and we broke up not too long after.

Damn. Maybe I didn't appear to be very caring to her but I did really like her.

Then our homeroom teacher walked in and we had a roll call. After it was finished, he spoke,

"Right, everyone. We have a new student joining us today"

There was a bit of murmur around the classroom. I thought it was odd too. It's only 3rd week of the school year? Did someone transfer at this time?

"Please come in-", The teacher looked out to the corridor and waved someone in.

Huh?

The new student that came in was none other than that boy Shu.

I think this was a surprise for Kulu too.

"Shu? What are you doing here?"

"Oh do you guys know each other?", the teacher asked,

"Yeah we are neighbors, but Shu is a middle schooler?"

"Ahem, Shu, would you like to explain and introduce yourself?"

"Gees, Kulu, don't put me on the spot like that"

Dude. Everybody can tell you simply can't be a high schooler.

"Hello everyone, my name is Shu. I was supposed to come to school from the first day but our family had to go somewhere for two weeks. So I'm glad that I can finally join this class. Please take care of me. Thank you"

I could hear some girls already -loudly- whispering "So cute!"

"Right. I think I will explain this one. May I, Shu?", the teacher asked.

"Yes, sir"

"As Kulu said, Shu was a middle schooler. He would have been in the second year of middle school now, but academically he was too advanced for that level. So Shu here jumped the years and enrolled straight into the first year of high school"

There was plenty of 'wow' and 'no way!' going on around the classroom.

"Please treat him the same like you would any other classmate. He is a bit younger but you are all in the same class. But then again, also understand that this could be quite a challenge for him. It's not easy to skip two years and come straight to high school. I hope you can all get along and support each other"

Shu was standing there looking a bit embarrassed as the teacher was explaining the situation.

"Right, let's find you a seat, erm... Okay - you can go sit over there by the window"

As the teacher pointed his finger, I felt like he was pointing at me. Then I realized there was an empty seat behind me.

"Thank you, sir"

Shu walked over to our side and smiled at Kulu as he passed him by, looked at me with cold eyes, and then sat in the empty seat behind me.

"Ok, that will be it for the morning announcement"

The teacher then picked up the student attendance book from the podium and was going to leave the classroom, then a boy spoke up from… behind me?

"Sir!"

"... Yes? What is it", the teacher turned to look at Shu

"May I change seats with this… person? He's too big and I can't see anything"

"Hm, you are right. Boh-, please gather your stuff and change the seat"

What a pain…

I got my stuff out of the desk drawer and stood next to Shu.

"Get out. You are in my seat"

"Hmpf!"

Shu picked up his bag and moved to my old desk.

'Isn't Boh a bit mean?', 'yeah, what's wrong with him?'.

It's funny how people 'whisper' just loud enough for you to hear.

Well, if that's how you girls want to put it, then yes.

I am a wolf.

And this lamb ain't going anywhere.
