"You guys go up first. I'll come up a bit later"

"Ok, it's flat 909"

"Got it"

As Kulu and the geeky boys - Kun, Dash, and Raki - entered the apartment building, I fished out a cigarette from the pocket of my school jacket and lit it up.

Man… it's really hard holding back for the whole day... Back in middle school, I used to smoke with my friends at the back of the school building and no one dared to approach and stop us.

I took a big drag and exhaled it. Someone was passing me by to enter the building and I didn't pay any attention to it, but my smoke made him cough. I didn't turn to look at him but from the quick glance I had when he was passing by he looked somewhat short and slender. I did my best scary-cool voice, without looking at him.

"If the smoke bothers you, then don't fucking come close"

Then I could hear the boy rush away from me to enter the building.

Ah... I haven't done this for a while. It made me nostalgic.

But…. :sigh: for now I'll go up and hang out with those geeks.

I failed to make any friends for the past month, and everyone in the class looked weak. I knew I wasn't gonna get the kind of guys I hung out with before here, and Kulu was on good terms with everyone, not just these geeks. I probably make a few friends in no time if I just hang around next to Kulu looking cool. Then it's goodbye to you geeks.

:Ding dong:

"Coming!"

It didn't sound like Kulu.

Then the door opened and a boy was standing there holding the door knob looking at me innocuously.

"Kulu…?", the boy turned his face away from me and called out to Kulu.

"Yeah?"

"Is this guy your friend?"

"Yeah, I'm expecting a friend. He's Boh"

The boy then turned to look up at me and said.

"You stink"

He closed the door without letting me in.

Argh, this little brat! It's the boy from downstairs before.

I don't know what I was thinking but my old temper came out and I started kicking the door.

"Open up you little brat! How dare you!"

Then I heard some hustle and bustle behind the door and Kulu finally opened it again.

"Sorry Boh, Shu can be a bit naughty at times"

"Ouch! Let me go!"

Kulu was pulling on the ear of this boy called…Shu?

"Is he your brother?"

"No, he's one of our neighbors. He's in middle school"

"So you are Shu?", I looked at the boy with the scariest face I could pull off

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Like Shu-Cream?"

"Hey! Don't call me that!"

This kid doesn't seem to get scared. How about this then -

"Mmm... You are really sweet"

That finally frightened him and he squirmed out of Kulu's grip and ran back to a room

"Whoa-. So you are… like that?"

Kulu asked me with his round eyes getting even bigger and rounder.

"Nah, I'm just messing with the kid"

"Haha... I was like confused for a second there. You got me good. Come in!"

But I was seeing things a bit differently now. Maybe the little fun I had threatening the kid brought something back into my heart.

"Nah. I realized I had something to do. I'll get going now. Have fun with your friends"

With that I turned around and walked down the corridor to the elevator, waving bye without looking at Kulu who stood there confused.
