Chapter 3 Really?

Leaving home was something I never had done before, only brother was able to go to town. Once the house was out of sight, dense trees covered the cleared piece of land where we stay. After a while, the trees became less and less, it's hard to breathe properly, its hotter, than home. I look back to where my brother going and there is a grey ground, I ask to walk, and the ground is hard, unmovable and smooth, no rock or grass. Then looking up, there are buildings, multiple in a row, reaching the sky. I look to my line of sight, people are walking one way on each side of the road, they are in lines, and hearing clacks on each steps they take. I was taking it in then my brother tap my shoulder, and offered his hand, I took it and follow each steps, the longer we walk the harder it is to breath, the air is more thicker and stinky than the one at home.

Further walks and the tall building became smaller, there are more color, but dull. People are still walking in lines, but there are kids, their clothes have more color, shoes are not clicking on the ground, they seemed to be held back.

My walking paused "am I gonna stay there?" I ask my brother.

He notice me and said "just only half a day, don't worry" we step aside to let other people pass by.

"See that place across the road" he points at a smaller building, with round silver tables outside, my eyes went to the large sign that reads -Pastries and more-.

"That's where I went to work, once you can go out, just enter and wait for me to finish" he said.

Then we went inside the school, halls were just silence, every room we passed by I can see children just sitting still, faced front.

We entered a small room, unlike the others filled with tables and chairs, this one has only a big one on the center. Behind that table was a woman, with glasses, hair tied on her head on a circle, she was smiling when she greeted us and told to sit down, but her eyes are not, it looks annoyed. On a table of hers was a gold triangle with a name, Ms. Victoria something, too hard to read, and under it was Principal.

"sooo… Mr. Calyst, can you tell me about Zia here, classes had started, and it's a bit late, but she can still catch up, only need to speed up a lesson or two" she said, with a happy and concerning tone.

"Well, Ms. Vitoria, there were some personal issues that cause for late enrollment, but from her learning at home, I evaluated that she can surely catch up in no time" my brother said, I'm confused, as he said those words on a formal tone.

"Okay, the papers were in place, here is he statement of accounts" she handed his a piece of paper it's full of numbers. "Be sure to pay up before the end of each month"

"Yeah sure, will do" my brother hid I in his backpack "when will she begin"

The Victoria something, press a final clicks and stood up. "She can start today, how about I bring you to your classroom" she looked at me and smiled.

I just nod.

"Wait for me outside of my office, I have papers to bring" she points at the door and we followed.

Once outside, I took a deep big breaths and sighs.

"I told you, its fine, you are smart enough, I taught you how to read and write and everything you need to know" he kneels and curls his hand and place it in front of me. "Do your best Z"

I curled my hands and softly punch his positioned hand. Then Victoria emerged from the door. And said

"Follow me" still smiling.
