C.15: Hangover?

Waking up, Bulma was surprised to see Leon in her bed. Watching him with big eyes, she was pretty sure that she locked the door when she went to sleep. But she didn't mind.

Hugging him to her chest, she smiled.

'I have a friend, doo doo doo doo doo doo!'

Until yesterday, her only friends were her parents. Some servants would play with her. But even at such a young age, Bulma felt patronized. They would play with her like an adult plays with a child. Reluctantly.

She didn't like that.

So she tried making friends her age. But children her age couldn't really speak yet. And older kids didn't want to play with babies.

Sniffling a little, she buried her face in the sheets.

Peering at the drooling Leon, she smiled again. Yesterday she made her first friend.'

'And now I've been recruited to an adventure!!!'

She only knew about friendship from the comics and fantasy books she used to read.

'It's all so exciting!'

Stroking Leon's prickly hair, she wanted to wake him up so bad! But remembering that one hero novel, she held herself back.

Hugging him tighter, she giddily closed her eyes.

...

Opening his eyes, blue hair covered Leon's vision. A small ear poking out. Bulma's little arms tried to strangle him.

A nostalgic smile on his lips. Leon remembered the times, when he used to play with the small kids in the neighborhood. Playing tag, and other games.

Even if his accident messed up his hamd-eye coordination, he could still 'bully' very young children with ease. Shamelessly using his height and superior power to his full advantage.

Usually, he played the monster. With the kids ganging up on him. He would put up a tough fight. Posing as a mustaache-twirling villain before he got buried under a pile of laughing children.

With such a great memory on mind, he stroked Bulma's hair.

"Good morning."

"Hello!"

Judging from her excited tone, Bulma seemed to have been up for quite a while already. Looking him in the eye, she inquired.

"What are you doing in my bed?"

'Huh?'

Stumped by the question, Leon desperately tried to recall what happened last night. Resulting in a self-inflicted facepalm.

'Oh god. Nobody may ever know!'

He remembered stumbling through the plane sleep-drugged. Kicking down doors to look for Bulma.

With the energy of an abusive husband who was about to beat his wife, he wanted to torture this innocent little girl with tickles. Not letting her sleep at all!

'This is a new low.'

Rolling out of bed onto the floor, he groaned.

"Are you good? Hey! Talk to me!"

Not minding Bulma, he writhed in shame.

'It would've been ok, if that was all.'

But it wasn't. Leon didn't care about whether his intentions were childish or not. He didn't even care about having spooked half the staff.

What really made him squirm like a dying worm was the reason for his actions.

'Just because she was born smarter than me? Drunk-Leon is an idiot!'

He had the same problem in his previous world. He only had to miss sleep, or drink half a glass of beer, and Leon would regress into a child.

Tying his shoes together for no reason and stumbling 10 seconds later.

With a hoarse throat, he looked at the concerned girl.

"Bulma. Don't EVER let me anywhere near alcohol."

"Okay."

With that out of the way, he heaved himself off the floor.

"I'm here, because I was sleepwalking."

Bulma wasn't curious anymore, so she got to changing her clothes.

'Saved.'

That's what Leon thought, when he heard a high-pitched scream.

"Aaaahhhhh!"

"Crap."

Drunk-Leon really is an idiot.

The heat is killing me. The weather has no right to be this hot! It's still spring, but the last 5 days were +30°Celsius!

Today only a short and late chapter. I know. It sucls for me too.

***

I really like, that while Bulma and her father have an IQ of +200, they're still normal people. They live normally, they feel normally, and they want normal things in their lives. Like family and friends.

So now we have an incredibly smart and innocent child that just can't seem to make friends.

Because the other children are either not smart enough to understand her, or too chidish to play with her.

Pretty sad, right?

Even her sister was way older than her and moved out early in her life.

That's why befriending Leon is so important.

In the Anime, she was all alone. While she didn't grow up to be a monster because of her family's love, she grew up as a lonely child.

So getting so attached in so little time, at that age, is quite plausible.
