The gloom of doom enveloped the abandoned factory like a thick dark cloud, and the air was filled with tension and uneasiness. Ryan stood high above the factory, his eyes scanning his surroundings like a torch. Behind him, Jamie, the young mother, the old man, and the many survivors stood at attention, fortitude and determination written on everyone's face.
The first line of defense was the factory's main entrance. Reinforced many times, it was stacked with mountains of scrap metal, heavy boards, and sharp barriers. Ryan looked at this line of defense and understood in his heart that this would be the key to their defense against the mutated creatures' attacks.
"Is everyone ready?" Ryan asked loudly, his voice echoing in the silent air.
"Ready!" The crowd responded in unison, their voices filled with courage and determination.
Jamie gripped the spear in his hand tightly, his eyes firmly looking ahead. Beside him, a few survivors were nervously checking the makeshift stone throwers, which they had made from scrap materials from the factory, although simple, they might be able to play a great role in critical moments.
The young mother held her baby tightly, both worry and determination in her eyes. She knew that for the sake of her child's future, she had to bravely face this battle. The old man, on the other hand, stood to the side with a homemade walking stick in his hand, and despite his age, the tenacity revealed in his eyes was admirable.
Kral and Erik were busy at the back of the defense line. Kral was organizing medical supplies, ready to treat injured survivors at a moment's notice. Eric, on the other hand, was checking some improvised communication equipment to ensure that he could get in touch with the rest of the defense line in time during the battle.
Lucas and some other survivors were in charge of transporting ammunition and supplies, and they were shuttling back and forth between the lines of defense to be fully prepared for the battle.
Suddenly, a low growl came from the distance. Ryan was immediately alert, and he raised the binoculars in his hand and looked towards the direction from which the sound came. Only to see a group of mutated creatures rapidly approaching towards the factory, their figures looking particularly hideous under the afterglow of the setting sun.
"Prepare for battle!" Ryan shouted, and the crowd immediately entered the battle state.
The mutated creatures were getting closer and closer, and they were numerous, including mutated wolves, mutated spiders, and mutated rats. The eyes of these mutant creatures flashed with red light, and their sharp teeth and claws made people shiver.
When the mutant creatures rushed to the factory gates, the stone throwers of the first line of defense attacked first. Huge stones were thrown and smashed into the group of mutant creatures. Some of the mutant creatures were hit by the stones and let out painful cries, but more of them were undaunted and continued to charge forward.
Jamie and the other weapon wielding survivors immediately opened fire towards the mutant creatures. Spears, bows and arrows, improvised guns and other weapons were fired, and for a while, the air was filled with the smell of smoke.
The mutant creatures weren't willing to show any weakness either, as they frantically stormed the defense line. Some of the mutant wolves leaped high and tried to jump over the obstacles, but they were stabbed by the sharp metal thorns and fell to the ground with a miserable cry. The mutant spiders, on the other hand, used their long legs to climb the barriers, trying to find a breakthrough.
Seeing that the mutant creatures' attacks were getting more and more violent, Ryan decided to personally lead a team to rush out and disrupt the mutant creatures' rhythm of attack.
"Follow me!" Ryan shouted as he took the lead in rushing out with an iron rod in hand. Jamie and a few brave survivors followed closely behind.
They rushed into the group of mutant creatures and engaged in a fierce close combat. Ryan swung his iron rod, each blow full of power, sending a mutant wolf flying. Jamie, on the other hand, stabbed a mutant spider with his spear and nailed it to the ground.
However, the number of mutant creatures was simply too many, and they were soon in trouble. A mutant wolf lunged at Ryan from the side, and Ryan couldn't dodge and was scratched on the arm by the wolf's claws.
"Captain!" Jamie shouted as he rushed over and stabbed the mutant wolf to death with his spear.
Just then, the young mother saw Ryan and the others in danger, and she decided to join the fight as well. She left the baby in the care of the old man, then picked up a stone spear and rushed towards the group of mutant creatures.
"I'll help too!" The young mother shouted as she stabbed a mutant rat with her stone spear, repelling it.
With the joint efforts of the crowd, the mutant creatures' attack was temporarily contained. However, they knew that this was just the beginning, and the mutant creatures would definitely attack again.
After returning to the defense line, Ryan immediately asked Clare to treat his wounds. Clare carefully cleaned Ryan's wound and then wrapped it with a bandage.
"You have to be careful, the wound can't get infected." Klare said with concern.
Ryan nodded, "I know, everyone be careful. This battle has only just begun."
Sure enough, it wasn't long before the mutated creatures attacked again. This time, they seemed to be even more frantic, and their attacks were even more intense.
The stone throwers fired rocks again, but the mutant creatures were already prepared, and they dodged the attacks. Some of the mutant creatures started to hit the obstacles with their bodies in an attempt to knock them down.
When Jamie saw this, he decided to lead some men to reinforce the barrier. They thickened the barrier with more metal plates and wooden boards, while setting some spikes and traps on the barrier.
"Hurry up everyone, we can't let them rush in!" Jamie shouted, his voice filled with anxiety.
At the back of the defense line, Eric constantly kept in contact with the rest of the defense line through his communication device to understand the defense situation of the entire factory. He knew that this battle wasn't just a battle for the first line of defense, but a battle for the survival of the entire factory.
Lucas and the other survivors continued to deliver ammunition and supplies to ensure the battle continued. Their faces were covered in sweat, but they didn't complain in the slightest because they knew that their efforts would determine whether everyone lived or died.
As the battle continued, the pressure on the first line of defense was increasing. Some obstacles were knocked down by the mutated creatures, and some survivors were injured. But they didn't back down, they still stood their ground and guarded the factory with their lives.
At the critical moment, Ryan decided to take a risky action. He led a group of people around to the back of the mutated creatures and tried to attack them from behind, disrupting the rhythm of their attack.
"Everyone stay close to me, we need to be careful." Ryan whispered, his eyes filled with determination.
They carefully maneuvered around the swarm of mutant creatures and came to their rear. Ryan saw that a mutant bear was directing the attack of the other mutant creatures, and he decided to take care of this mutant bear first.
"Aim at that mutant bear and fire!" Ryan shouted as they fired together towards the mutant bear.
The mutant bear was caught off guard by the sudden attack, it roared angrily and turned towards Ryan and the others. Ryan didn't back down, he held the iron rod and charged at the mutant bear head on.
In the fierce battle, Ryan showed extraordinary courage and fighting skills. He nimbly dodged the mutant bear's attacks and then smashed the mutant bear's leg hard with the iron rod. The mutant bear's leg was injured and its movements became sluggish.
Jamie and the other survivors also took the opportunity to rush over and attacked the mutant bear with various weapons. After a fierce battle, they finally managed to knock the mutant bear to the ground.
The fall of the mutant bear threw the group of mutant creatures into chaos, and the rhythm of their attack was disrupted. The survivors of the first line of defense took the opportunity to launch a counterattack, and they used weapons such as stone throwers, bows and arrows and spears to beat the mutant creatures back.
In the final stage of the battle, the young mother played a crucial role. She saw a mutant spider crawling towards an injured survivor, and without hesitation, she rushed over and stabbed the mutant spider to death with her stone spear. Then, she helped that wounded survivor back inside the defense line.
After a grueling battle, the first line of defense was finally held. The mutated creatures retreated, leaving behind a messy battlefield.
The survivors sat on the ground in exhaustion, their bodies all had wounds of varying degrees, but their eyes were filled with the joy of victory. Ryan looked at everyone, his heart filled with emotion.
"Everyone did well, we held the first line of defense. But we can't let our guard down, the mutated creatures may attack again at any time." Ryan said.
Clare and Eric immediately started treating the injured survivors. With their limited medical supplies, they did their best to treat the wounds of each injured person. The young mother, on the other hand, held her baby and looked at everyone with tears in her eyes. She knew that the victory in this battle was not easy to come by, and that everyone had put in a tremendous amount of effort.
In the coming days, the survivors would continue to strengthen the factory's defenses and prepare for the next challenge. They knew that in this apocalyptic world, survival was a never-ending battle, but they would not give up, and they would continue to fight hard for survival.
