CHAPTER 6 - TALENT

The pitch black world disappeared and what greeted him was the blinding light of the sun, as he woke up in an unfamiliar place.

He was on a bed made of wool, rather than the cold floor he usually sleeps on, he was alone in an empty room that was surprisingly clean, the rotten smell of garbage no longer assaulted him, instead there was a fresh fragrance lingering in the air.

He sat down immediately and noticed the ornaments on the wall and glow stones on the ceiling then he realized where he was, he was in the inner city.

Click…

The door swung open as three individuals entered the room, they were talking about something but he couldn't hear them clearly for some reason.

"It seems he has woken up," a lady in white coat said to the two men beside her.

Ohh, they said as they turned to look at him sitting facing them.

"So you're finally awake after sleeping for three days straight," one of the men said.

While they were talking to him his mind was going blank, those two men he knew clearly, were the ones who brought food for the disabled and secondly, they were the inner instructors of the new youths.

They had unfathomable strength, they were only below the leaders of the city in strength, they were known throughout the inner and outer city.

"Bird got your tongue" one of the instructors said joking with him.

So now the the point, do you remember what happened three days ago before you fainted?

As I heard him talk, the memories started flowing back to me I lost control of my body, it was scary, I could see and hear everything happening but couldn't stop it I couldn't even speak.

I told them what happened and how they came to bully me for my food, I refused then was beaten and suddenly lost control of my body, everything after that was just mystery to him.

As they heard him speak they all came to a sudden conclusion, he had awakened his talent.

It was exciting news for them, years ago when they survived the journey from the ocean they all lived together, but some group of people didn't want to be cooped up in this small environment when they had a whole continent to explore.

Many of them agreed to it, they didn't want to stay cooped up here waiting to die one day or for some miracle to happen.

Most of them who had awakened their talent had this same notion, with their abilities if trained very well and honed they believed they could roam the continent one day.

If just on the edge of the continent they could see dragons and mystical monsters, what would happen if they could go deeper, what type of things will they see, what type of mystical creatures roamed that place?

They could only dream of it, so instead of it turning into a huge problem they were allowed to leave the city and even allowed to come back whenever they wanted.

Some years passed and some returned, they brought some news that made them happy, firstly they weren't the only survivors.

There were some other people who had survived the sea and gained mysterious powers, eclipsing what they had ever seen in a human body.

Most of them were already stronger than their leaders of the former continent, multiple cities has been built, and they were one of the weakest of them.

So the ones that came back came to recruit young people who had awakened their talent or had the strength to fight those monsters.

They not only recruited those who had talents to fight, but if they were geniuses at making weapons or specialists in dealing with herbs they were also recruited.

For some time, when the recruiters came they couldn't even give out two people sometime they could barely give the recruiter even one person, but this year they had four people already and this boy would make them five.

It seems that their golden era has arrived, this year they found five people already.

"Well you don't have to worry about those group again, they have been punished for trying to forcefully collect good from the disabled and you are going to be living in the inner city from now," one of the instructors told him.

"Me, I would be living in the inner city" he was both shocked and happy.

It means the instructors would be training him from now on, only the rich and the genius youths lived in the inner city so this was big news to him.

As he sat down and thinked, all this that happened two months ago was still fresh in his memory, since he joined the academy he had been trying his best to build a good and strong body.

He still remembered what happened that day, if, with his weak body, he could be that strong what would happen if his body was multiple times stronger? But today he had decided to rest.

In another room, we could see Micheal still training as sweat rained down his body.

"That crazy Daniel has finally taken a break from training, if he continues I'll surely catch up to him one day" he thought.

He wasn't like the other people in the academy, he lacked talent. He had been in the academy since he was young till date, but someone who just started training two years ago or some months ago had eclipsed him in strength.

The only way he surpassed Daniel was with battle experience, but if things go on like this sooner or later Daniel will gain more experience than him.

He wasn't like the others in the academy, he was like Daniel, he lived in the outer city some years ago, the instructors owed his parents some favor so he was allowed to learn and train in the academy since he was young.

Now people who just came recently or some years back are almost reaching the same level of strength as him, that was why he was always training.

He didn't want to bring shame to his parent's name by wasting his years like that, at first he tried using only his fists to fight but that wasn't good for him, every fight left him in a bad condition, he tried other weapons which still didn't work for him until he held a sword.
