Adventurers vs Dungeon Serpent

(This chapter will be from the perspective of one of the adventurers mentioned in the last chapter, at least partially.)

"Jess, could really use some help here!"

Diving to the side I raise my shield in a hurry to guard my bruised side from the oncoming tail of the Dungeon Snake. 'Who the hell said this was a low silver dungeon, damn snake should be in a high silver dungeon at least!'

Feeling the impact and push back from the tail's swipe, I look over the top of my shield and ready my mace to counter-attack while Harry can maybe hit its eyes with a spell. Feeling the strength rising in my gut, I recognize Jess' strength spell being cast.

Sprinting forward I try to draw the snake's attention with the taunting enchantment on the shield that suddenly starts to glow red for a couple moments. Seeing it's head turn directly away from Jack, I could only tense up in response to it's slitted eyes narrowing as it reared back and opened it's mouth.

'This is gonna hurt...'

Hunkering down behind the shield that has saved my skin more times than I can count, I close my eyes as the sudden heat around me increases rapidly from the Serpent starting to spit a stream of burning oil onto the shield.

The shield was getting hotter by the moment as it started burning my arm through the metal as I couldn't wait any longer to activate my defensive skills. 'Iron Bulwark' My shield shining again as a barrier spread out above the shield eating the incoming oil before it could hit my shield anymore.

Looking towards Jack again, I could see his heavy crossbow was ready to fire again, though now he had tied one of those potions he couldn't stop collecting to the arrow head. 'Hope that thing you spent so much gold on works, I don't wanna be stuck as coal or snake food.'

Watching the arrow fire out with an echo, it snapped back against him before the bolt stuck into the Serpent and the potion exploded with it. The smell from the potion nearly knocked me out the instant it hit my nose. 'What in the name of Draoze's Hammer was in that thing?'

"Jack, what did you just hit that thing with!?"

Jack turned and shouted back something I never would have expected.

"A high tier monster bait, anything in the next half mile is gonna smell roasted chicken and come looking for that snake!"

Watching this strange fight taking place, Mitchel was awestruck at everything he was seeing. Spells, giant monsters, what he could only think of as Magic swords and shields. All his thoughts came to an abrupt stop as his nose suddenly went into overdrive when the potion shattered against the giant snake in front of him.

Every thought stopped and his stomach lurched, whatever that was he was affected heavily, barely controlling himself for a few moments before losing himself to the driving hunger he had been staving off through his rational mind and training over the years before becoming whatever he was.

Sprinting forward, Mitchel growled and then howled before running past the group towards the meal his mind was showing him. Much to the surprise of the party already fighting the snake.

Seeing the newcomer charging at it, the snake swung it's tail towards the oversized burning dog to get rid of the pest before also trying to bite it with it's fangs.

Both attacks failed, the swipe of it's tail doing nothing other than letting Mitchel spring off the tail towards the body of the snake, and it's bite was met with an intense heat ramming into it's jaw before feeling a searing pain as the teeth of the hound bit into it's scales, piercing through with little effort as the many holes across his body started flaring up in escalating fashion as the Serpent started getting burned alive from the concentrated heat against it's large head.

Hearing the growl and sudden howl, I turned around to see what Jack had drawn in only to see something that shouldn't be anywhere near the Jade lands. 'What's a Hell Hound doing here!?'

Watching it warily I was dumbstruck when it charged past us all towards the snake we've been dealing with for almost an hour now. 'Guess Jack wasn't wasting money, strong enough to even draw in a Hell Hound, I don't even know what these bastards eat.'

Looking around some more, I found my party members were just as gob-smacked as me. I looked back towards the two beasts since we are gonna need to beat the snake before that potion wears off, or before the hound dies.

"Jess, Harry, don't just stand there! We gotta move, I don't know how long this is gonna last, and I don't intend to find out!"

Jess and Harry both snapped out of their stupor and started casting spells again. Harry having to down a mana recovery potion before he could start another attack on the thing's eyes, meanwhile Jess already started using strengthening magic on me and Jack.

Jack was loading another bolt while I started pulling out my own smaller crossbow, it won't do much, but if I can hit one of those burnt spots, inside it's mouth, or the eyes, even my little bow should deal some good damage to this beast.

Seeing Harry's volley of magic stones firing towards the eyes once again, I took the chance to shoot at it myself as I heard Jack's bow launch another bolt, this time his arrow struck the neck just under it's jaw while Harry's stones did mostly nothing, but the two stones that hit the eye made it blind on one side as the thing exploded out of the socket.

The snake looked to be getting weaker and more desperate as it started swinging it's head around wildly, trying to get the dog off it. 'I need to remind Jack to get another one of those potions when we get back to Pizard Port.'

Watching the hound bite and claw at the serpent like it wasn't afraid of being hurt made me nervous and the dread in the pit of my stomach made me wary of that potion as well.

Soon enough I could see the burns across the head of the snake were getting severe, the scales were cracking and splitting apart, the other eye was boiling out of it's head, and the skin inside it's mouth was almost entirely blackened from the Hell Hound holding onto it.

Watching the Dungeon Serpent fall and finally go still, I felt the familiar sensation of my spirit being praised by the gods as I breathed in deeply, before looking over to my other party members and starting to motion towards the chest and then the entrance. 'I don't wanna be here when that potion wears off, and I don't wanna know what a Hell Hound is like after it's eaten.'

Stepping over to the large silver chest at the back of the cave's chamber, we were greeted with a massive haul. A few dozen silver and gold coins, a couple spell scrolls, an enchanted greatsword, and a skill gem.
