System Acknowledgement?

When we were turning to leave, we found the entrance blocked by a trail of fire. This was not what we needed today.

"Jess, Harry, either of you able to clear that fire quickly?"

Harry simply shook his head as he was leaning onto his staff, and after he opened his potion pouch he audibly cursed and showed me it was empty. We couldn't just run through the fire and out of the dungeon.

"Jack, how long do we have before that potion of yours wears off again?"

Jack would open his pack and start rummaging through his items as he said, "I think the best we are going to get is ten minutes before it starts to lose it's effect."

We all looked back towards the Hell Hound with wary gazes. 'This is either going to be a lucky break, or we might be standing in our tomb right now.'

Mitchel felt confused, and his thoughts felt foggy. He could see and feel himself doing something, but he also couldn't understand what he was doing. Slowly, his thoughts were clearing as he felt sluggish and his face felt wet.

As his mind fully awoke, and started to register where he was and what he had been doing; Mitchel slowly pulled his head back from the serpent he had been chewing on. Looking around the room again; he saw the people from before were haggard and the two in the rear looked to be at the brink of losing consciousness.

Mitchel would tense up as he heard a voice he could understand in the back of his head.

'Level 1 reached, system acknowledgement gained.'

Twisting his head, he only head the voice from behind him as he suddenly felt the rush of energy coming from his chest. Now processing the new info, he could only stand their bewildered for a minute.

His eyes were suddenly overtaken by a string of text flooding his vision.

'Allocate Bonus Stat points: 3'

Mitchel was in a daze from the influx of information before starting to slowly understand what was being shown to him. Looking at his Bonuses, he leaned forward towards his skills, and as if the system recognized what he wanted, it opened up each skill.

Trail-Blazer: A blazing path of incandescent amber fire springs into existence under your feet. One direction, selected by you, sends forth waves of heat; enhancing the speed of any entity able to withstand it's heat, but only in the direction of the blaze. The pathway deals constant damage after it appears, and to all creatures stepping over the area. In addition, the path restores a small portion of Health for fire type creatures passing through it. The path deals double damage to undead and plant type creatures.

Flash Step: You will blink to each location of up to three Burning Glyphs, then return to your original position. You don't have to be able to see the target glyph(s) only know where they are. You alter your physical form to enter and exit each glyph, and warp away from your current location and are shifted to the location of an Glyph of your choice. You may appear anywhere within 5 feet of the glyph. (if there is no free space around them, you appear above any obstructions.)

As this effect triggers you are considered to be empowered and therefore gain an additional boost to your strength stat. After the first blink you may repeat the blink again, until you have used all Burning Glyphs, increasing the enhancement further each time. The Burning Glyph at each location disappears the instant it is used. Any enhancement from glyphs are lost shortly after any attack or blink.

Fire Pelt: (Passive) A Hell Hounds fur makes it immune to any type of fire or heat. (Active) Each wound or scar creates a new opening by which you may exert the will of a Hell Hound. Giving energy to the fur ignites the air around it, setting the wearer ablaze for as long as energy is provided.

'This is starting to sound like I'm dropping napalm, and I'm fireproof. At least I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.'

Shifting up to the stats, Mitchel would stick out his paw to the text making the numbers shift.

Stats:

| Strength: 4→5 | Dexterity: 6 |

| Defense: 7→8 | Speed: 7→8 |

| Mana: 1 | Spirit: 10 | Intelligence: 4 |

Seeing the screen settle and all the exclamation marks disappear, Mitchel would blink a couple times as it vanished from his sight, and he was left starring at the group of four that also seemed wary of him.

They didn't look like people he knew. The shield and mace wielding man looked to be about four feet tall, but that was assuming the older looking man leaning on a walking stick was five foot-six. If that guess was right, then Mitchel must have been roughly nine feet tall. Meanwhile the woman at the back of the group of four had long pointy ears, and he didn't know of anything that naturally had pointy ears.

'Wait, pointy ears on a pretty lady? Better hope I don't see Dan anytime soon; I don't think I can pay him a fifty for being wrong about elves being real.'

The other man with the crossbow looked more like someone related to his Scottish brother in arms. Mitchel remembered him constantly making bets and spending his holiday pay on celebrations.

'They likely aren't in any condition to move right now. Those two in the back look like they've been put through the ringer a couple times already. I might be able to figure something out with them since they aren't attacking me.'

The next two chapters for this week might be a bit delayed, but I will try my hardest to make sure that both come out before next Sunday.
