Suddenly reincarnated in a new world, he found himself in the body of a forgotten orphan from a long-forgotten novel he once read. Armed with a mysterious system, Aisam chooses to traverse the world pursuing the path he chose to accept... The Path of Terror. *** It's my first novel, and English isn't my first language so I kindly ask for your patience and support. Constructive criticism is greatly welcomed as I try to improve. That's why, the further chapters you go, the overall story may have improved.

Daily Quests [2]

After completing his second daily mission, Aisam was extremely tired. He felt too worn out to do anything else and decided to simply lie in bed for the remainder of the day.

He lay on his bed with his eyes closed, breathing heavily and sweating profusely. Glancing out the window, he watched as the setting sun descended from the sky, casting a gradual cloak of shadows over everything as dusk crept in.

"Ugh, I guess I should go do my final daily quest for today. Even though they're not that important right now, they could have big effects in the future... This system makes me feel so robotic," he thought sighing with a hint of frustration. He then quickly got out of bed, grabbed his shirt, put it on, and headed downstairs from his room.

After reaching the kitchen on the first floor, he drank a lot of water from the sink to feel less tired. He planned to go outside and run in the yard, but he saw the twin girls playing with each other in the yard with wooden toys, doing whatever they wanted.

"I need to find another way outside. I don't want to play with them again," he thought. So, he turned around to look for another exit.

Aisam headed toward the only room at the back of the first floor. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. Despite using all his strength, the door wouldn't budge.

"Damn! Even the bedrooms on the second floor don't have locks... I didn't want to, but I guess the front door is my only option," he thought in frustration. Taking a deep breath, he headed towards the yard instead.

As he entered the yard, they spotted him. One of the twins, excitedly, hurried over to him, leaving her sister behind. She gazed at Aisam with a look of concern in her eyes."

"Why haven't you left your room since before? Are you okay? You seem different. Have we done something to upset you?" she asked, her eyes concerned and her hands anxiously clutching each other.

"Why does she care so much about me? She hasn't made any mistakes but thinks she's not good enough and cares too deeply about others... It's probably just a show, and she'll likely change as she matures," he thought as he watched her. Realizing he was getting distracted, he chose to leave promptly.

"I'll just be direct and deal with it," he thought, exhaling as he turned his gaze away from her, only to look back again.

"Nothing to worry about, I'm just starting a new daily routine," he said softly, placing his hand on her shoulder. Aisam reassured her before quickly adding, "I'll be exercising near the house, and later we can play together if you'd like." With those calming words, he departed without waiting for her to respond or offer any thoughts.

Riona was surprised by his behavior because she had noticed some changes in him since that morning.

"He's different now! He never mentioned exercising before, and when did he become so cool?!" she thought to herself, still standing there in surprise with a slight feeling of satisfaction and sparkles in her eyes.

Machaira was very surprised by Erebus's behavior. She thought to herself, "I've never seen Erebus have a routine before. He used to just do what he needed to do and play with us when he wanted."

Watching him leave the house, she wondered, "Has he forgotten his memories? No, he couldn't have!" She was shocked by how suddenly he had changed.

...

After leaving the house, Aisam checked his surroundings to familiarize himself with the area and ensure it was safe. He noticed the peaceful setting with normal wildlife, trees, and greenery, but he also felt an eerie silence that made him uneasy.

"I have a lot of theories, but they won't help unless I leave this forest and see for myself. Right now, let's just focus on getting stronger. I can't even survive in this peaceful world as I am now," Aisam thought. Not wanting to waste any more time, he immediately started running around the house to avoid any potential unknown dangers.

After running for about 2 hours with occasional breaks, he felt extremely tired. He collapsed on the grass, breathing heavily and closing his eyes. Ignoring the system notifications, he was ready to fall asleep when he suddenly heard a nearby growl. Startled, he snapped his eyes open and stood up straight.

"Where is it? Is it hiding in the trees and bushes? What could it be? Even if it's just a regular wild animal, I might not survive. I need to get back to the house quickly!"

Feeling anxious, he dashed towards the house with all his remaining energy, despite his exhaustion.

As he neared the house, with just a few meters separating him, the deafening sounds of thundering steps and a bone-chilling roar echoed through the air, sending shivers down his spine.

"NO TIME TO LOOK AROUND! JUST RUN!" he thought, his heart pounding in his chest as he focused solely on fleeing for his life, pushing aside any inkling of curiosity.

*ROAR* *scratch!

In a split second, the beast's claws grazed his back, drawing blood and a sharp cry of agony from him, just as he leaped into the safety of the house, narrowly escaping its grasp.

"Am I about to die again? At least it's less painful... Rest in peace me,"

He thought to himself as he curled up in an increasingly burning pain on his back that was slowly spreading all over his body, breathing heavily, his vision was getting blurry, his body was going numb, and his eyes were slowly closing.

"..."

"EREBUS! YOU CAN'T DIE!"

"WAKE UP! PLEASE!"

"GET OUT OF THE WAY, RIONA! WE NEED TREAT HIM RIGHT AWAY!"

"EREBUS! PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES! I PROMISE I NEVER WILL BE MAD WITH YOU AGAIN!"

"THIS DAMN ANTIDOTES! WHERE ARE THEY?!"

"PLEASE, ENDURE A BIT MORE, EREBUS! I'LL NEVER LET YOU DIE!"
