Matthew was currently making a carving knife made out of the deer bones that the group had just defeated. Although Matthew had said to Ethan that he would make him a better quality bone carving knife using at least level 20 beast bones, after the deer fight earlier, Matthew had thought that having his own magic staff would be quite convenient since he didn't want to borrow Ethan's magic staff every time he wanted to cast his own magic. He might be still bothering Ethan in the future due to the fact that the magic staff made from ordinary wood is supposedly not as durable compared to the original magic staff that Ethan used, which means that Ethan would probably need to make the ordinary wooden magic staff multiple times depending on how often Matthew used it. But at least he won't be depending too much on Ethan if he wanted to cast magic.
