The Mysterious Tower (1)

On their journey back, Link and his team encountered a few Beasts that they dealt with easily, but this time they used Link's advice. Ganthor, Helga and Jhuler found themselves more comfortable and relaxed as they followed the Main and Secondary Skills protocol. As for Ariel, she started moving around the battlefield with her stealth Skill on, sniping the enemy from unpredictable angles. The whole thing became much simpler as they wiped the floor with a couple of Level 3 beasts and a Level 4 one.

Link's goal from taking a different route back was not training them but looking for more Fragments. He felt like he could do better as he has been barely making any progress. Looking at his Quest Tab, he sighed as he shook his head.

<Collect all Fragments of Consciousness (5 / 10)> <Attunement>

"I'm gonna need to go out on a quick search" Link muttered to himself. "I'll find a Skill that boosts flight speed and go around this whole continent!"

Link set a plan quickly as he started browsing the Shop.

Days went by as Link finally found the Skill he needed.

<Lightning Charge: Allows the User to accumulate Lightning inside of His/Her body and use it to reach light speed for as long as Lightning is still available inside the User>

Link found this impressive, so he did not hesitate to buy it with another Skill.

<Lightning Call: Allows the User to call upon the power of lightning, sending a lightning strike of great power on the chosen spot>

"With these two, i'll be able to keep going forever if i so wished" Link refocused on the road ahead after taking care of his business. He really wished to try out his new Skills and their combination, but it was not the time for that yet.

Even though the Lightning Call Skill is an offensive Skill, Link was not worried about using it on himself, since it was a mere Level 5 Skill which wouldn't be able to even put a scratch on him. Using it to charge his Lightning Charge Skill would make him cover the whole Continent in a mere Day if he so wished.

The team quite liked Link's idea, as they discussed potential Spells to learn and add to their list.

They camped and trained along the way, successfully making combos and proper strategies.

On their fourth day, Link heard Ora speak, making his heart jump in delight.

[There's another Fragment nearby Link, head North]

Without thinking twice, Link ordered the team to set up camp here and wait for him before he disappeared. He followed Ora's instructions and after a few seconds, Link saw an eerie looking old tower ahead. Ora confirmed that the Fragment was inside and he couldn't shake the bad feeling he got the moment he saw it.

The tower had a circular base as it went up reaching 50 meters in height. There was moss and missing walls here and there, making the place look old and abandoned for years.

"That shit looks like a bad idea" Link muttered. He didn't stop though, making his way there reluctantly. As he got closer, he couldn't help but notice someone speaking. He didn't know if it was a mere illusion or someone really was whispering inside, but Link became more wary, activating his Stealth Skills and flying in from an open gap.

He landed in a small room. From the decaying furniture it looked like a bedroom. Link quickly walked towards the door and listened in.

"I… Can't.... You... Di... Lo…" The words spoken were very faint and extremely hard to make out even with Link's superior hearing. It sounded like a little girl and an old man were conversing. This confused Link slightly, as from what he could hear, the old man sounded frightened and agitated while the little girl was calm and if Link wasn't mistaken, excited.

<Follow the source>

[Yeah, maybe someone needs help]

"No!" Link spoke. "That's how dumb motherfuckers die in movies" He said with a chuckle, knowing full well that he might have to head there anyways if he wanted to find the Fragment. 'Of course it'll be the source or reason for all of this bullshit' Link thought to himself.

CREEK!

As Link walked, sounds of the tower "Settling" echoed around. He paid it no mind as he looked around room after room, always hoping to find the Fragment in the next one, but luck was not on his side. After covering the whole floor, Link reached the stairs. He stopped for a second before he started to head down. And by heading down Link decided to float down as the stairs were barely there. The reason why Link decided to start with the bottom floor was because he could make out the whispering and voices coming from upstairs.

<Coward!>

"I'll the one taking care of whatever abomination is upstairs, not you, so shut up!" Link retorted. He landed swiftly and from floor to floor he checked room to room, until he finally reached the bottom floor.

The door that lead outside was blocked by fallen stones. Link could have easily cleaned the path but he stopped the thought in its tracks, not wanting to bring attention to himself just yet.

The first floor looked like a lobby with a door to what looked like a lounge. Broken sofas and chairs were all over the place with now shattered glass tables. It looked like the apocalypse happened here.

[Nothing here as well]

<Hehe>

"Shut up!"

Against his will, Link started flying upstairs. Hearing the whispers become clearer and clearer the more he ascended made his skin crawl. He had an innate fear from creepy atmospheres like this from his childhood. He was a fan of horror movies and such, but even with all the movies and shows he watched, Link's fear only grew with time, making this place his worst enemy.

<A Master Mage with enough power to destroy a Kingdom is afraid of ghosts?>

[Haha!]

"Shut up!"
