Entertainment?!

Making his way towards Jill City, Link felt like something was odd. He had been running for a while now and he probably traveled a great distance but it looked like he entered into a different realm, as the area turned from a deadly and dry to green and lively.

"Was this place not attacked as well?" He thought, seeing that no travelers or coaches were around. Making it a bit hard to figure out.

Link had some hope that maybe the destruction of Rockhill Village had not reached Jill City. He knew the difference in strength between a City and a Village was vast, so he hoped that he'll find a place to purchase resources and hopefully a map. He wished to rest up a bit and get himself back on track.

Link's leveling has been going steadily on his trip, reaching Level 8 after killing every beast that had the misfortune to be detected by him.

The distance was too much and 2 days passed while Link either camped or hunted on his way. He did not forget to practice his martial arts, leveling them up slowly.

He couldn't stop thinking about the black hooded man. His level was similar to the red robe but he still dominated him in their fight. "It can't be right?!" Link thought before shaking the idea out of his head.

Link was relentless on his hunts during his trip, he left no beast alive. His ferocity to level up increased tremendously, especially after his chat back then with the mysterious entity, Rauj..

"Level 5?" Link asked confused.

"Yes" The voice boomed.

"Why?" Link asked.

His goal was still to grow stronger as fast as he can and it was fairly obvious, but for some reason he was asked to try harder to reach level 5 faster.

"All the powerful entities in this vast universe will send what we call an avatar to represent them" The voice explained "I picked you"

Link heard what it said but was silent for a bit before asking "What for?"

"To an all powerful immortal entity, be it a god, a devil or something else. Life loses its spark after a while. Other than their tasks depending on their position, they set up this event as a form of entertainment" The voice said, sighing.

"What?" Link said instantly "Was this your reason for giving me my powers and reviving me?" He said angrily "You found a weak minded little kid on his deathbed, so you decided to use him as some sort of monkey for your entertainment?" Link screamed into the darkness. Black mana forming slowly over his body as a suffocating feeling filled the place.

"W..what is that?" The voice mumbled before quickly shaking off its confusion and speaking loudly. "Listen!"

"It might be entertainment for them, but not for me" The voice said "Like any competition, rewards will be available for the winner. Some will be provided for the avatar and also for their guardian, which is myself" The voice boomed, blowing away the power that started surfacing around Link.

"And I'm guessing you need the reward provided for the guardian, which was why you thought it was right to use me!" Link yelled.

"QUIET" The voice sent out a wave that pierced through Link's ear drums. "Did you think i gave you power and so many chances because of your good looks?" The voice spoke "I thought you already knew i needed something out of helping you like this"

"I am weak. My powers keep on weakening as time passes. I need that reward" The voice said.

Link calmed down a little. He knew that he got too much from their exchange and he owed this being something at least. He knew, but for some reason his heart hated the idea of being used as an avatar. As some form of entertainment for others. Link knew this feeling but was foreign to it… Pride!

"Why would i be feeling like this? It's odd" Link thought to himself.

"Why Level 5 though? Would it be enough?" Link asked.

"Level 5 is the minimum requirement for an Avatar" The voice said "The time is near for the event, which is why I decided to inform you. Think of it as some sort of friendly competition"

Link opened his mouth, about to speak, but the voice boomed once again.

"I can not hold this for longer. Grow stronger Link" It said "If you win this and i get my powers back, i'll send you back to earth"

Those were it's last words before light shone brightly, blinding Link completely.

Link sighed as slight anger surfaced within him again. "There it is again!" He spoke, taking deep breaths.

The anger and immense pride were out of nowhere. He felt this a few times whenever someone belittled him but he always dealt with it and moved on. Now though it felt different. Like he knew that he can't do anything to these entities and he had no choice but to do as told, which angered him. One phrase always came to his head whenever he thought about the event. "How dare they!" He always heard himself mutter it. He noticed the dark Mana he always saw when he lost control would surface from time to time, vibrating like it shared the same feeling as him.

"Am i letting my progress and power get to my head?" Link thought "I don't think so"

Back in the dark space. Silence filled the area after Link's departure. When suddenly a figure could be vaguely seen walking inside, as footsteps echoed.

"What was that?" The figure muttered, lifting its hand and a ray of light formed an image in front of it. Link slowly became visible. It was like someone took a picture while Link was inside the space. The figure waved its hands and the image got clearer and clearer, revealing something.

"How can he have that?" It spoke, looking closer at Link "Does it not only belong to the gods?" It questioned.

Link stood in the dark place just like he did a few minutes ago. He had an angry expression with black Mana slightly visible around him. The figure zoomed even further, but aimed right behind Link.

A Black shadow with purple eyes and what looked like a hoodie was formed right behind Link. It seemed to be something materialized by the black Mana surrounding him.

"Is that a Guardian?" The figure muttered before shaking its head. "No way, I'm the only one that has a contract with the kid. I would have detected if something else had done the same thing" It laughed and waved its hand, making the image dissolve back into small light particles and flow back to him.

"There it is!!" Link yelled after seeing a building peeking at him from the distance. It looked like some sort of tower with a sharp end. It was made from stone bricks with a blue roof.

3 more days passed since…

Link sped up, reaching the surrounding area of the city with a huge smile. He could see the wall from a distance and started walking.

"Stop right there!" A voice ordered.

"What?" Link stopped and looked around him, searching for the source. He opened his eyes wide as he saw all his surroundings were filled with soldiers and Mages with their weapons and spells aimed at him.
