The Custodian

On a dark and stormy night, in the back room of an unassuming night club a meeting is taking place.

A short and stout middle aged man, wearing a two-piece black suit with a top hat, pulls out a chair and sits down at the round table in the center of the room.

"Please have a seat" he says to his guest gesturing to one of the chairs by the table. Black Cat just looks to the right side of the room, at the aquarium built into the wall and says in a dismissive tone "Thanks, I'd rather stand.".

The man just nods and observes her for a few moments and asks conversationally "So....How things?". Black Cat now wearing only an eye mask looks over to the man with glare and a frown on her face, "Cut the crap!, What do you want Rosa".

[ Flash Back - QUEENS - 17 April 2009 - 14:04 Pm]

Felicia is sitting by her desk in 'The Litter Box', that Jason decided to name her Hideout. Because in his words 'This is where all the important shit happens'. She is in only yoga shorts and one of Jason's long sleeved shirts, with her hair tied in a messy pony tail and her black choker necklace. She is typing away on her keyboard, eye's trained on her middle monitor creating a security protocol for her Artificial Intelligence.

"And it's done", she looks away from her monitor turning her chair away from her desk and looks at where Jason is standing with an eye mask in his hands holding it up in the air. "What's done?" she asks looking at him curiously.

Jason, shirtless and in slim-fitting sweatpants and wearing thin rimmed glasses, looks over to Felicia smiling and walks over to her with the eye mask in hand. She looks up at him as he comes to a stop in front of her.

She looks over his torso which his covered by faded scars, bullet wounds and some fresh bruising from his most recent patrols. She looks to his left forearm that has a Vegvisir tattoo on it.

She still remembers when he got it 2 months ago, with a big smile on his face gushing about how 'awesome' and 'cool', and 'how he can finally get a tattoo'. In their last live he always wanted to get a tattoo but could not get one because of our financial problems. I was happy seeing him, seeing him so happy and overjoyed.

When I asked him what it meant, he told me "It means Way-Finder, the bearer of this sign will never lose one's way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known" he said with a big proud smile on his face. After getting the tattoo he started wearing long sleeve shirts to school because tattoos weren't allowed but outside of school he flaunts it for everyone to see by wearing t-shirts or tank tops.

"I finally finished the last touches on this", she is snapped out of her reminiscing by Jason holding out the eye mask to her. She takes the eye mask from his hand and looks it over for a bit and then puts it on.

"What does it do?" she asks him. He presses a button at the side of the eye mask. "I call it 'CatVision', it has Electromagnetic Lenses that will allow you to see in various ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as infrared and ultraviolet light."

Felicia with the mask now activated looks through the different options on the HUD of the eye mask, "how do I sw--.."just as she says that her vision changes to purple, changing to the ultraviolet mode.

"It works with your thoughts so, you just have to think of the mode and it will change accordingly." he says with smirk on his face looking down at her. She thinks of turning off the UV mode and her vision returns to normal, "That's impressive." she says looking up at him with an impressed expression.

"Aaaaand" he pulls out a small mirror from his back pocket and shows it to her. She looks in the mirror seeing her usually green eyes, now blue. "It also changes your eye color, making it harder for people to identify you".

"Simple. An object, which I am prepared to pay handsomely for" Rosa says looking at her with a slight smirk. She looks at him at him with sneer and asks "Why do you want it?" then she narrows her eyes at him in suspicion and says "Matter of fact, why would you ask me?, knowing that I have stolen from you on numerous occasions."

Rose stays silent looking at her with a frown for a few moments and sighs saying "You are the best at what you do and it would be easy for you to get the object I want", then he turns looking to his aquarium for a few moments then looks at her again and says "If you get this object for me, I will pay you and we can see all your past actions as water under the bridge".

Black Cat still looks at him suspiciously and unconvinced by his words. Rosa sighs and then smirks at her saying "If you get the object for me, I can give you info about the person you have been looking for"

Black Cat looks at him with wide eyes and says "What?"

[ HARLEM - 5 June 2009 - 00:30 Am]

On an abandoned six story building with a skylight. Black Cat is climbing down from the rooftop landing on a ledge and walking to the large windows, but quickly stops and steps back just as a hand smashes through the windows trying to grab her.

She grabs the hand and pulls the person through the window and lets them plunge to their death. She walks through the smashed window, entering the building.

She dodges to the right out of the way of another hand trying to grab her and kicks the person through the bannister, going around the middle of the building in a square shape, and watches the person plunge down the six floors to their deaths.

She hears a thunder of footsteps and quickly looks around shocked at the four dozens of blue skinned zombie like creatures charging at her. She does a back flip off of the top floor dodging a hand lunging at her and lands in a crouch on the third floor bannister.

She turns and free falls down the remaining floor, while looking at the hundreds of creatures swarming each floor of the building, before she hits the ground, she does a twist mid air and lands in a three-point landing. (A/N: A superhero landing basically).

She looks up amazed at the creatures and says softly "Zombies...". she looks around the ground floor and sees a night stand with a lamp shining on it. On the night stand is a Reliquary.

She goes to the night stand and picks up the object looking it over for a bit and then putting it inside her duffel bag.

She quickly looks behind her hearing the growl of dogs, out from the shadows come four black Dobermans with blood red eyes.

"I would not take that if I were you", a dark-skinned woman with black hair in a braided pig tail, wearing a Bedlah with brown slingback heels. She also has a sawfish sword in her right hand.

"I am tasked as custodian to the Reliquary you now hold in your bag...", the woman says coldly looking at Black Cat with a blank expression. The Black Cat smirks patting her bag "This old thing? I doubt you'll miss it." she says.

The woman looks at her sternly and says "I must warn you, it contains a map that only causes mischief and sorrow for those who seek to change their fate. The choice is yours.". Black Cat looks at her with a sneer and says "Maybe I need a little bit of mischief in my life, I doubt it could do any damage I can't handle.", She gives the woman a fake appreciative smile and says "But thanks for looking out for me.".

Black Cat looks at the woman with a tilt of her head and says encouragingly "Why not take a break from the whole 'Custodian' thing and let me borrow this for a bit."

The woman glares and points her weapon at her "Take it if you must, but do so cautiously, for such an object never comes free or without consequences.". Black Cat takes the duffel bag off her shoulders and puts it down next to her and smirks at the woman and says "Lets just see, shall we?"

Black Cat kicks aiming for the woman's head, the woman ducks under the kick and moves behind her, hitting her on the back of the neck. Black Cat stumbles forward but quickly recomposes herself glaring at the woman.

"Next time it will be the blades. So, if you'd like, come at me again." she says with a condescending smirk and her arms wide open. Black Cat slowly circles the woman looking at her closely. She dashes forward throwing a right hook, the woman dodges to the side and swings her sword horizontal to her chest, she leans back dodging the blade and throws a haymaker with her left. The woman redirects her punch and slashes her across the left shoulder.

"Shit", Black Cat curses looking at her bleeding shoulder. She looks at the woman with a confused glare. The woman just smirks and goes on the offence again. She slashes in an arc, Black Cat weaves to the side and kicks the woman on the side of the head, but the woman just spins out of the way and kicks her square on the chest making her fall back. Black Cat does a back roll and lands in a crouch looking at the woman infuriated.

"Nullification" the woman says smirking at Black Cat. she looks confused at the woman. The woman chuckles and shakes her head, "It is my ability, it nullifies any other persons ability in a 4.2metre radius of me".

"I have seen footage of you fighting and I must, I am impressed", the woman says nodding to her. Black Cat says in a sarcastic tone "Why, thank you" and glares at the woman. The woman unfazed just continues, "What I find interesting is that, you don't take a fighting stance, you don't even look at the movement of your opponents at all." The woman says tilting her head with a smirk and says "It's almost like you know what your opponent is gonna do before they even throw the first punch or kick."

She points her sword at Black Cat and says with smug smile on her face "Your ability makes it possible for you to see briefly in to the future... three seconds to be exact".

Black Cat just looks at her unfazed by her deduction and says dryly "Wow look at you go". She says clapping her hands mockingly. The woman just slightly glares at her and gets into a fighting stance, "Let us end this, shall we?". Black Cat nods at her "Lets".

The two women rush at each other one final time. Black Cat does a round house kick, the woman blocks the kick with her right arm and tosses her sword to her left hand and slashes downward at Black Cats right thigh. Black Cat does a one foot back flip dodging the strike.

Just as she lands, she sees the woman slashing at her chest, she just barely leans back still getting nicked across the chest by the blade. Not giving her a chance the woman hits her across the face with the blunt side of her sword, knocking her to the ground.

The woman standing over Black Cat's prone body raises her sword to finish her. Black Cat lies on the ground disorientated from the hit to the head, looks wide eyed at the blade coming down towards herand quickly rolls out of the way, just as the sword hits the ground leaving a dent.

Black Cat quickly while still on the ground kicks the woman in the back of the knees, the woman falls on her back from the hit to her legs. Black Cat quickly mounts the women and starts furiously punching her in the face non-stop.

Just as she is about to land one more hit, the woman raises her hands in front of her face in surrender, "Stop. You win. The reliquary is yours.". Black Cats stands up off the woman and glares down at her while wiping her nose with the back of her hand," You could have made this easier on both of us...".

The woman sits up and glares at her warning her one last time, "I've warned you, there will be nothing easy about this". Black Cat just glances down at her dismissively "I'll take my chances", and walks off to her duffel bag, picks it up and runs out of the building.

Just as she runs out of the building coming on to the side walk, she is grabbed from behind by two big guys. She looks around seeing six other guys with guns all trained on her.

"I knew if I put you on the job, you'd get it done..." Rosa comes walking out from behind the men and stops, standing a few steps away from her with an umbrella in hand.

"You didn't think I would just let you go, now did you?" he says smirking at her.
