The beginning.

On one cold and foggy evening, a boy could be seen running and weaving through the crowd with ease. This was Maxwell making his way to his orphanage from a gaming marathon that finished late. As he was about to reach the stoplight, he heard a loud horn sound with urgency attracting his attention.

He noticed mid-run, a young lady standing paralyzed with fear in the middle of the road and what seemed to be a truck speeding towards her. Almost instinctively, he rushed out to save her. Digging deep and pushing his limits, Maxwell was able to reach the lady in time, pushing her out of the way.

He tried to join her, however, was unable to in time and was hit by the truck and sent crushing and rolling on the street. Everything was broken and the pain hellish, it was the most pain he had felt in his entire life, he couldn't even scream to get some sort of catharsis, it burnt just to breathe, and even blinking brought on fresh pain.

Fortunately, he soon felt his consciousness slipping and happily welcomed the shelter from the excruciating experience. As he felt the last embers of his life fade, he could help but think 'So this is how it end'.

The next thing Maxwell knew he was sitting at a table with a mysterious and innocent-looking old man with a kind and gentle smile.

"Ahhh, that hurt! That hurt so bad! Seriously, that really hurt." Maxell shouted repeatedly. "Remind me never to do that again".

"It would be fun to be a hero they said. Being a hero would be so cool, they said. It is basically a harem cheat code, they said. Just save one person, they AAAHHHH!!"

"That wasn't fun, and I certainly didn't look cool when I was sent fly across the street like a rogue YoYo, and where is my harem? This was all a scam." He cried.

After he finished ranting, he noticed the old man patiently waiting for him to finish. "Sorry about that… I just had a traumatic experience. Where is this, and who are you?"

"No worries it's understandable after what you just experienced." The old man responded.

"To answer your first question, this is the void the space between creation and the abyss. Nothing can come here, aside from me, of course. I brought you here so that we can have a nice chat",

"Now to answer your second question, I am a ROB here to grant your wishes based on your achievement and merits."

"You see the lady you saved went on to become a very vital part of humanity's advancement and because she wanted to repay you for saving her life, she donated a huge sum of money to your orphanage and provided the children many opportunities they would not have access to otherwise".

"Some of these children went on to become outstanding members of society".

"The achievement of these people would not be possible without your involvement and thus you have earned a large majority of the karma generated by the actions for the young lady and the children".

Ordinarily, it is impossible for a single person to gain enough karma to get wishes, but somehow, you did. It is a very impressive feat; you should be proud.'' The old man praised.

With a high raised head and a proud smile, Maxwell replied "I know right, I am just a very awesome person, you know. Also, what do you mean by wishes and what are they for?".

"Yes, awesome indeed" the kind ROB agreed "You see, usually when a person dies, they are judged based on them on their accumulated krama. People with bad or negative krama got the abyss to be purified and whatnot while those with good or positive krama are sent to a special place in creation where they can live forever, you may think of it as heaven."

"You, however, are an impossible and even abnormal case because you do not have good krama no calling it that what be an insult, you have an incredible amount of krama which has caused quite the problem because 'heaven' cannot handle your krama. So, I was called in to fix the problem to prevent something like this from happening again and to reward your achievement."

"Your rewards are as follows:

5 wishes with certain limits.

World selection

 character design

background design"

Maxwell was shocked he did not expect so much, deep down he was a bit regretful of his choice to save the girl at the cost of his own life, but this made up for it because he was always fearful that based on his trajectory he wouldn't accomplish much with his life and was probably going to spend it just doing nothing but barely living. This was his chance. A chance to do something. To be something, someone. And he won't ruin it.

Aside from the wishes' limitation, everything was self-explanatory, so he enquired. And found out that he couldn't wish for anything too powerful, and some wishes would have rules that follow. For example, if he wishes for magic powers and then decides to go to the world of food wars, his wish would be rejected because although food wars is a slightly special world it isn't a magical one and they can't have some spamming country destroying spells all over the place. Although, he can wish for planet-destroying cooking skills.

Maxwell found the rules confusing.

"Don't get these rules. It is hard to determine what limits a wish would have." Maxwell said with clear frustration.

"Don't worry, I will let you know the restrictions of your wishes depending on your world," ROB assures with a kind smile.

"That would be great. Thanks" Maxwell thanked.

However, had he not been lost in his joy and relief, he would have noticed the ephemeral glint of mischief in the old man's eye.

"Now that you have been briefed. It is time for you to make your wishes and feel free to take all the time you need. I can wait."
