Chapter 16

The racers then raced into Tucson. The Mouse Machine is in 4th and is catching up with The Frog Hopper in 3rd. Once Team Frog saw Team Mouse behind them, they hit the gas and ditched them. The Piano Trap is last, but they threw a stink bomb into Donaven and Nayanna's car and stunk them out of their vehicle. Then The Piano Trap passed them and took 6th place. Cory and Tonya refreshed their car by spraying it with an air freshener. Then, they returned to the race and tried to catch up with the others. The Mouse Machine is in 4th, and when they saw Mad Dog Mayhem behind them, they started to fire beets at everyone behind them, and they hit both The Piano Trap and Mad Dog Mayhem. Mad Dog Mayhem is in 5th, and while beets got shot at them, Sabrina used a baseball bat to hit the beets back at The Mouse Machine. Once she did, Amie and Bridgette got hit, and their beet cannon exploded when a beet got stuck in it.

The racers are now leaving Tucson and heading into Phoenix. Easter Town was feuding with The Catmobile for the lead. While Narita and Chris drove, Sarah and Joseph fought each other by spraying water guns. Joseph tried spaying Sarah in her face, but he missed. Joseph said, "Get out the way and let us take the lead, you second-rate racers." Sarah said, "Second rate? We got 2 inches for the lead on you." Joseph said, "Not for long. Hit the gas, Chris." Chris hit the gas and drove in front of Easter Town, but Narita hit it too, and they started feuding again.

Sarah and Joseph sprayed each other with their water guns, but Sarah blasted Joseph and soaked his shirt. Then Joseph shot Sarah and washed her hair. Sarah said, "Joseph, I get that you want the lead, but did you have to ruin my hair?" Joseph resprayed Sarah and soaked her hair again. Joseph said, "Yes." Sarah said, "Don't make me get tough." Joseph shot Sarah in the face and blinded her. Then Sarah dropped her water gun, and the other racers drove over it and broke it. Joseph said, "Sucker." After Joseph beat Sarah, he put his water gun away, and The Catmobile took the lead. The Wheeled Mummy Case is last, but then The Mouse Machine threw buckets of blue, red, and green paint out of their car. The blue color hit The Wheeled Mummy Case's windshield, the red paint hit Mad Dog Mayhem's windshield, and the green paint hit The Piano Trap's. After they got hit, all three drivers turned on their windshield wipers and cleaned their windshields so they could see again.

The racers raced out of Arizona and into California, where Lacey and Stephanie were waiting at the finish line. While the racers were racing, Marcel from the network called and told them to move the finish line to Hawaii. Lacey said, "OK." The racers raced through California and tried to make it to the finish line in Eureka. The Catmobile was out in front and almost there while the other racers were feuding. Easter Town was firing eggs at The Frog Hopper, The Mouse Machine was firing melted cheese at Mad Dog Mayhem, and The Wheeled Mummy Case wrapped bandages around The Piano Trap.

Once the racers arrived at the finish line, The Catmobile crossed the finish line 1st. Joseph said, "We won. Give us our money." Chris said, "Don't tell us." Lacey said, "That's right, there's a new finish line, and we'll tell you where when the other racers get here." Once the other racers got to the finish line, Lacey and Stephanie told them where it was. Stephanie said, "Sorry racers, we've just been informed that the next finish line is in Honolulu, Hawaii. You'll have to race to the finish line at the volcano." Lacey said, "We're also entering a few new racing teams. Jeremiah and Shonta in The Alligator Speedster, Casey and Richelle in The Mermaid's Treasure, and Tonya and Tyler in The Alternate Choice."

Stephanie said, "But you won't be racing until tomorrow. You'll be spending the night here in the land of Eureka. Then, in the morning, you'll be racing to Hawaii. The Catmobile will also get a 60-second head start since they came in 1st." Then all the racers shouted, "Eureka!" Their voices echoed. After they did, the racers set up camp for the night. While the racers set up camp, Joseph grabbed Chris and told him to be quiet. Chris said, "Why aren't you helping set up camp?" Joseph said, "Come with me."

Chris and Joseph snuck to Narita and Sarah's car, opened the hood, and reversed direction on their engine. Chris said, "Check." They flooded Sabrina and Sheree's car with water, including their trunk and hood. Joseph said, "This is going to be good." Then Chris walked to Cory and Tonya's car and sabotaged their engine with bubble gum. Then Joseph walked to Lela and Melissa's car and threw a monkey wrench into their vehicle. Chris and Joseph then slapped their hands, set up their tent, and went to help the others find something to eat. The racers got some food from their cars, and when they finished eating, they went to their tents and went to bed for the night.

The following day, all the racers lined up at the starting line and waited for Lacey to shoot off the starting pistol. Once she did, The Catmobile drove off and began their 60-second head start. Joseph said, "So long, suckers." Once Team Cat reached the ocean, they turned their car into a hot air balloon and flew over the sea. They even pulled a few ropes in their balloon to make it go faster. While Team Cat was racing, the other racers were waiting for their head start to be over to go after Team Cat. When Team Cat's 60-second head start was over, Stephanie re-shot the starting pistol, and five of the nine remaining teams drove off while the other four stayed behind. Easter Town went backward and crashed into a canyon wall. Team Frog's engine exploded because of the monkey wrench inside it, Sabrina and Sheree got drowned out of their car, their engine spewed out water, and The Piano Trap got covered in bubble gum when they started their car.

Sabrina and Sheree dried off their car, returned to the race, and took 7th place. The Mermaid's Treasure is in 2nd, The Alligator Speedster is in 3rd, The Mouse Machine is in 4th, The Wheeled Mummy Case is in 5th, and The Altercycle is in 6th. Once they all got to the ocean, Team Mermaid turned their car into a plane, Team Alligator turned their vehicle into an aircraft, Team Mouse turned their truck into a speedboat, Team Mummy turned their vehicle into a powerboat, and Team Choice turned their car into a plane. Then they either flew over the ocean or rode across it while Team Mad Dog approached it, and the others stayed stranded at the starting line.
