The Aetos Pack

Stavros Aetos was not happy.

To be honest, he never was a happy person or shifter to begin with. But when he met his mate many years ago, it made him…content. But, her death drove him into a kind of work that changed how he saw life.

Breaking off with the Nation that caused her death was the best decision that he had ever made. He answers to no council and he can do whatever he pleases.

But the death of someone dear to him shook the very core of who he was. And now…

He looked at the window. The Mediterranean Sea could be seen from his office view, he sighed when he saw a figure walking at the end of the dock. Leander, his son, the current alpha of the clan was hurting. And so was he.

The call that he also got from the President of the RagTag MC was alarming. Women and children were abducted, yet they were found at the place no one expected them to be.

The Philippines.

The said country was known as the place to flee if anyone wanted to escape the law. But to be a drop off point for human trafficking, those were rare.

Stavros shook his head. He could never understand why humans and their kind were never satisfied with the things they have.

He once believed that Shifters or Weres were different, yet the sudden shift of power changed everything. From a man who had everything, now he only has his family and the pack that he has created.

There was a knock on the door, breaking his silent reflection. After a few seconds, his son entered the room. Stavros failed to notice his son was no longer at the dock, 'I must be getting old,' he thought.

"Father, your other son just called me," Leander said, as he sat on one of the plush sofas in the room. He poured himself a snifter glass of whiskey, and took a healthy swing before adding, "I asked about Ocean and Helios, all he said was that they were on a mission, stupid man."

"Those boys wanted to join him," Stavros remained his only son. "It is not his fault that they wanted a life away from here. Pyr seldom visits us."

"I knew that father," replied Leander. "I am not mad at Pyr. I feel frustrated. Mia hasn't called since last week, and knowing that her apartment was destroyed I fear something had happened to her. "

Stavros could only close his eyes, sharing the same emotions as his son. Mia was the light of their lives if something was to happen to her too…

He stopped his train of thought. She was raised by the most formidable group of shifters in the world. She was far stronger than the Wolf Nations' best men. She was…unique.

"You are not the only one who is worried. But we have to believe in her abilities, we are the ones that trained her. She may not be your blood, but she is an Aetos," he replied. "So, what did 'my other son' tell you?"

"He needed help with some underground work," he said. "He called you, too?"

Stavros nodded and looked at his mobile phone. He was not sure why Pyr had started to help humans, but since he was not his real father nor he was part of any nation, he was able to form a specialized group that could do what human authorities could not.

"I will be reaching out to some of the people I know who still have fingers in the underworld. He sounded agitated," Stavros said, "It seemed like the wife of one of his oldest friends was part of the cargo."

"Daymn," Leander cursed. "I do not want to be in the shoes of those men. I have seen Pyr get mad, he was in human form, but I do not want to see blood splatter again."

Both men grinned, Pyr was…messy when he got mad. The number of times he was mad made The Aetos pack look tame.

"She will be okay, ο γιος μου [my son]. We have to believe that your daughter is well. With the last of the Daire males dead, I fear that his daughter has a lot on her plate. Just like our Mia, Serena has been hidden from Were Nation. In our case, she should never have been born." The old man replied.

"Mia has us, father, while Serena has no one beside her," the younger Aetos replied.

"Khalid's son has claimed her, as it should be. You have nothing to worry about. Once we have word that Serena had landed on the Wolf Nation's stronghold, I will inform Clive of our arrival."

They were making a statement. Something that The Aetos pack has never done since he broke ties with the nation that killed his mate.

He may have cut ties to the Were Nations, but not to the man who helped him.

Mackenzie Daire.

Now that he is gone, it's up to his pack to protect the only Female Alpha of the Were Nation.

"Be ready, my son. The tides of fate are slowly shifting, and I fear that everything we have been keeping will explode in their faces. The only question is, are they prepared for the consequences."

Stavros' last words carried such a weight that his son felt the chills run down his spine. Whatever secrets The Were Nation had kept hundreds of years ago will soon be exposed.

But why does it feel like Leander was missing something pivotal?

Why does it feel like their lives were about to change too?
