Viridian City

Viridian City

It is a small city located in western Kanto, bordering the Viridian Forest up north and Pewter City further north while further south is Pallet Town. It is home to the Viridian Gym and the Pokemon Academy.

The Pokemon Academy is a place for young people to learn more about the world. It also fosters trainers but only for those within the top 100 in the Rankings.

In addition, the Academy gives out starters for these top rankers but these starters are usually just Pokemon found in Viridian Forest. These starters are just Weedles, Caterpies, Fearows, Pidgeys, Rattatas, Oddish, Zubats, and Sandshrews.

Occasionally, there would also be unknown eggs but these are reserved for the top rankers. Of course the top rankers can also choose to refuse the eggs and go for the usual starters instead.

The Academy doesn't give out Royal starters like Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Only Professor Oak's lab would give out these Pokemon as starters. If the Academy graduates wish to add a Royal Starter to his/her team, they would have to compete in the Kanto Rookie Tournament and obtain a spot in the top 10.

Students in the academy graduate at the age of 16 and start their Pokemon Journey. There would also be talented young trainers that start their journey at an earlier age of 12. However, these young trainers are usually those from distinguished families or organizations.

Folker, Corin, and Chelsea belong to this category of rookie trainers. Folker belonged to a mysterious but distinguished family from the Sinnoh Region that migrated to Kanto for some reason. Corin joined Team Rocket, the region's most notorious criminal organization.

Chelsea, on the other hand, is from Pallet Town. Talented young trainers from Pallet Town have a chance to be sponsored by Professor Oak himself.

At this time, three figures can be seen just outside the Pokemart building. One of the figures is a young girl with silver hair, holding an incubator with an egg inside.

"Should we stay for the night here or head directly to Pallet Town?" Chelsea asked as she looked at Folker and Corin.

"How far is Pallet Town from here?" Corin asked.

"Not that far but we'll arrive at 7 pm" Chelsea replied.

"I guess we should just stay for the night here then" Folker replied.

"I'll stay at the Pokemon Center for a quick training with my Pokemon" Folker said while looking in the direction of the Pokemon Center.

"I think I'll train with Folker" Corin replied, not wanting to get left behind by Folker.

"Is that so? Then I'll book an inn for us to stay with" Chelsea said.

"That would be nice" Folker replied with a smile on his face.

When Folker and Corin arrived at the Pokemon Center, they noticed that the waiting area of the center was rather packed with trainers.

"It must have been due to the Pokemon tide" Corin said as he looked at the trainers. Folker nodded at Corin's words.

They then applied for a quick check up for their pokemon, just enough for them to be able to train.

While sitting at the waiting area, Corin couldn't help but compare the medical methods of this world from his previous world. This world's medical methods are far more advanced than his previous world. This is solely because of the presence of Pokemon.

An injury that would sideline sports players in his previous world for weeks will only take an hour in this world with the help of Pokemon like Chansey.

Folker and Corin then went to the training field of the Pokemon Center while Chelsea went to look for an inn for them to stay the night. They trained for a while with their own training methods.

They asked for each other's training methods and compared them. Surprisingly, their training methods are not that different from each other but there are slight differences.

Folker's training method is divided into different parts whereas Corin's training method is different for each of his Pokemon, depending on their strengths and weaknesses.

Corin was fascinated with Folker's battle royale while Folker fascinated with Corin's one on one battles wherein he commands both of his Pokemon. Folker's battle royale allows his Pokemon to hone reflexes and judgment during battles as well as battle experience.

Corin's one on one battles, on the other hand, not only hones his Pokemon's battle reflexes but also hones Corin's own reflexes and ability to command his Pokemon. This is particularly good for double battles wherein a trainer has to command two pokemon at the same time and fight two opposing pokemon.

About an hour later, Chelsea arrived and decided to join them for a quick training just right before dinner.

"Come out!" Chelsea said as she called out her two pokemon from their pokeballs.

Two Ivysaurs appeared on the training field and did their usual training routine. Naturally, the other Ivysaur is Zorua, disguised as Ivysaur. This Zorua has a habit of impersonating other Pokemon. It usually never reveals its true form.

Folker and Corin also looked at Ivysaur and Zorua's training routine and asked Chelsea for her training methods for comparison. Unlike the two of them, Chelsea's training method is more of an endurance training. This is because of Chelsea's mysterious ability to heal Pokemon which makes it easier for her Pokemon to recover.

While there are potions that allow for quick healing, continuous use of them would increase Pokemon's resistance towards them, not to mention that they burn money.

This is why trainers prefer going to the Pokemon Center rather than use potions for training. Potions are only useful in the wilds or in some unexpected situations. As long as the consumption of potions is not daily, there's no need to deal with the resistance problem.

Chelsea's healing ability doesn't have this problem and most importantly, it's free.

Folker's pokemon have better reflexes and judgment in battle than the other two's Pokemon. Corin himself has better judgment in battle and synchronization with his Pokemon. While Chelsea's pokemon have better endurance and battle experience.

"So, how about a battle? Just an unofficial one" Folker said while looking at Corin's figure as he smiled.

"That's just what I was thinking. But let's make it quick with a one on one" Corin said as his lips curled up.

"I guess I'll volunteer as referee for your battle" Chelsea said with a smile.
