Plundering Across the Cosmos

*Upload speed is unspecified, I will upload whenever I have free time.* *DISCLAIMER* This is NOT my original novel. I found it on an MTL website and found it fun and interesting so I decided to go down the rabbit hole and edit it with proper English (to the best of my abilities) so that others could enjoy it too. I changed the names for a lot of things, rewrote many others, and tried to make this story read as fluently as possible. If I'm being honest, the whole novel may have been exciting in its original language, but it isn't in English. So like I said before, I'm pretty much rewriting this novel to my liking, still following the original plot and story, but adding A LOT to it. So it technically is a fanfic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. If you guys want to go read the original MTL, its original author was "banana too dog" under the original title of "I Plunder Endlessly In the Interstellar Age" *END OF DISCLAIMER* In the interstellar era, gangs and predators run rampant across the galaxy. Ajax, a skilled artisan crafting energy blocks, finds himself at the bottom of society, subjected to relentless bullying. He plunges into the shadows to ensure his survival, ultimately joining a notorious gang. Ajax stumbles upon a remarkable discovery along his journey – a super warship capable of upgrading limitlessly, given the availability of resources. With this newfound power, he establishes the infamous bandit gang "Reapers." This marks the beginning of an era characterized by endless plundering and ruthless exploits.

Chapter 18

Ajax felt a certain pleasure after finally achieving his revenge and was offly calm about everything.

He had endured too many things for too long, always thinking that if he were to tolerate things enough, things would get better. Well, it seemed his tolerance had reached its limits, it had been pushed to the ground to be executed and it all started with Charles's military-style knife slashing his right cheek.

Then came the moments he spent watching his house burn down, he knew that tolerance was not the best way to solve his problems, but that it only served to make the antagonist's methods harsher.

But he wouldn't keep tolerating things anymore.

After dealing with Charles, Ajax stayed for a while longer. It was close to two o'clock in the night, no one would find out about Charles's demise for a while longer, so he took his time, showered, and changed into a set of Charles's casual clothes. Although they were a tight fit due to Ajax having a broader and bulkier physique, they were still expensive clothes.

Before leaving, he made himself another box of ramen noodles; no matter what he did, he couldn't let food go to waste.

He wouldn't be able to stay in the city anymore since Charles's body would be found in a few hours, and the academy's security team would come looking for him. Not to mention the people from the Ashlin Group, after all, Charles is one of their heirs, so he had to escape as far away as possible and avoid the limelight.

But before he ran away, Ajax had to make a quick pit stop. It's not like he could leave his Warlock-level mecha behind, especially now that he has enough eddies to afford energy blocks and maintain the consumption of the Warlock-level mecha for a short time.

Ajax's confidence grew now that he had a powerful mech on hand, he'd be able to fight back whenever he encountered danger in the future.

Ajax made his way to the repair shop and on his way he passed by the self-service station and took out the 50,000 eddies. Ajax's hands trembled a little since it was the first time he seen and held so many eddies. Sure enough, the most profitable jobs were those prohibited by the law.

When he was about to continue his route to the shop, Ajax saw the fixed Vox next to him and hesitated before dialing Alana's number.

It took more than forty seconds for Alana to pick. A sleepy answer came: "Hello?"

"Hey."

"Huh? Ajax?! Whe-Where are you?!" Alana on the other end was startled and almost yelled.

She had been having a hard time these past few days since she knew nothing about Ajax's whereabouts, awaiting Ajax's call, and sleeping at night with her Vox volume all the way up.

"I'm fine, I told you not to worry about me. What about you?" Ajax couldn't help chuckle.

"I've been worried sick about you; where are you? You better not do anything stupid." A hint of anxiety could be heard in Alana's voice.

"I can't return for the time being. I did something I shouldn't have done, but it was something that needed to be done. I'll be skipping town soon, but before I leave, I feel like I needed to speak you you one last time and to say goodbye..." Ajax's voice lowered the more he spoke.

"Why?!... What did you do?... You clearly told me that day that you would come for me..."

"Hey, you don't have to shed tears for me. There's just too much heat on me and I can't risk it right now. I'll return for you when it's safe. I'm a man of my word, I'll even take you to eat the toasts you love so much..." Alana's crying voice made Ajax's heart ache, so he quickly comforted her.

"Pfft...you idiot..." Alana couldn't help but chuckle.

That damned toast seemed to be the funniest memory between Ajax and her.

"Like I said, don't worry about me, I'll contact you again when I get a chance. I'll be dropping off the radar now, take care." Ajax said and quickly hung up, afraid that Alana would cry if he continued.

Ajax took a deep breath and remembered the bond he had created with Alana a few days ago and felt a bit of nostalgia. He then left the self-service station and disappeared into the night.

"Take care too..." Alana tried to respond but Ajax had already hung up.

Thinking of the things Ajax had said to her, Alana broke down into silent sobs as tears slowly rolled down her cheeks.

Some people were rejected by her for years while Ajax only took a few days to enter her heart.

A few minutes later, Ajax arrived at the repair shop.

Originally, he planned on climbing over the wall, but who would've guessed that the door would be open, so he just walked in. As soon as he entered, he saw Kent driving a medium-sized forklift and trying to transport his Warlock-level mecha onto the truck.

Kent Surprised by Ajax's sudden appearance stopped what he was doing.

Ajax had been a no-call no-show for several days now and there was no news about him.

Kent thought he would never show up, but who knew that he would suddenly decide to drop by in the middle of the night?

Ajax was also confused since Kent is a well-known slacker. He usually goes home before sundown, but he was still in the shop this late at night. Although he was puzzled, Ajax still nodded first: "Hello sir."

"What the fuck are you doing here so late?!" Kent hopped off the forklift and took some quick strides for a man his size as he shouted at Ajax.

"I came here to take my mecha. I'm skipping town in hopes of greener pastures." Ajax said as he pointed to his Warlock-level mecha that was still on the forklift.

"You stole the energy block from the shop, and you were a no-call no-show for several days, yet you still have the gall to show up here and claim something as yours? There's nothing here that belongs to you! Are you out of your fucking mind?" Kent yelled as he pointed at Ajax's head.

"I only came here to get my shit, which is my. So get the fuck out of the way." Ajax said, dropping the fake smile he had.

"YOUR mecha? HAHAHAHA, I'm sorry but this mecha became property of the store the moment you stole something." Kent said as he walked up to the Warlock-level mecha with a rat-like smile and patted it, "Truth be told, I have found a buyer. I'm selling this baby tomorrow morning. I have to thank you for repairing it for me."

After Ajax didn't show up to work, he thought about freeing up that workshop and that was when he found this mecha inside. Who would've thought that it was a Warlock-level mech and that someone would offer more than two million eddies for it?

"Oh, so you think you can just take my shit?" Ajax asked with a bemused smirk.

He's been tolerating this fat bastard Kent for quite some time already. If he dared to kill Charles who was the heir of the Ashlin Group, what would it matter if he killed this pig too?

"Yes, so what? The fuck do you think you can do about it?! Get the fuck out of here!" Kent made a motion as if he was about to slap Ajax with his hand.

There was no way he'd let go of this mecha, Ajax was just a fly that he needed to swat away.

However, he soon realized his mistake as Ajax suddenly took out a military knife from his pocket and drove it directly into Kent's palm.

"Ah!!" Kent screamed, his attitude making a complete 180 as his hand burned from having a knife stab right through it. His face contorted in pain, and finally, fear overwhelmed him as he started to retreat while clutching his palm.

"Why are you backing up you fat fuck? What happened to the shit you were just saying? Come, keep on talking." Ajax said with a smile on his face that was only growing bigger, and he clenched his military knife and kept on moving toward Kent. However, in Kent's eyes, Ajax had become terrifying, with a crazy psychotic smile adorning his face, he looked like a lunatic. Was this really the employee who he would always belittle and fuck with?

Ajax had taken this knife from Charles off a whim, but he never expected that it'd come in handy so soon.
