Two Demons

The ghoul child's eyes held the brightest light So Eun had ever seen in this life.

Aside from his crystal form and an immense amount of bound energy surrounding his person, if he moves a single inch, the Deities would grimace and step back due to his profound spiritual core.

Jaebin and Yeonbin had never seen anything like it either, and while the ghoul child stared at him, So Eun was rendered speechless.

Moments after, the child spirit lifted his left arm and index finger.

And pointed behind himself, a dull expression still on his face.

"Come,"

The voice was close to a whisper of distant waves, but it gave So Eun chills through his spine.

No one still speaks, the whole Palace turning somber when he spoke. It was stimulating at first, both the two Deities behind them were astounded.

However, after the ghoul child pointed in a certain direction, the drastic sound of a scream erupted just outside the Palace.

The mortal world's turbulence is never-ending, So Eun thought to himself before he turned back and realized something.

That scream was a lot closer to them, and he was sure it came from Dong-Hyun.

Not wasting any seconds, Jaebin held it in his duty to act fast, "I'll check outside!"

Then he bolted out of there within seconds, So Eun offhandedly moves too, and he ran to inspect the outcry.

But Yeonbin was still there, contemplating every one of them.

"Hold on a second!"

It was a game of push and pull for him, that So Eun wanted to smack him first and do his duties without restraint.

Yet the moment he took off the distance away from the ghoul child, a tremendous black smoke poured throughout behind the spirit.

Yeonbin instantly pursed his lips, stance tensing when he saw the black smoke emitting out.

The candlelit proceeded to flickered and some spluttered to the ground, as the whole place surged with strong evil energy.

"Damn it!"

So Eun heard Yeonbin curse throughout the ordeal. And braced himself from inhaling the black smoke too, trying to reach out to the child.

His previous concern was momentarily thrown at the back of his mind.

Yeonbin pushed through despite that, and he managed to drive out the evil energy by blasting his sword in front.

Lightning from his sword had pierced through the smoke, forcing the wicked energy no choice but to retreat.

Thus it faded almost instantly.

Until they saw in front of the chamber where the ghoul child had slept was an empty space. The light from the child had vanished too.

"Demons are at it."

Yeonbin presumed, his sword gripped tightly by his side.

So Eun very much knows what he means by that.

So he immediately goes outside to find Dong-Hyun, and he arrived at the back of the Palace.

Exactly where the ghoul child directed him to.

Upon leaving the Palace that was dreaded in multiple energy now, he faintly saw Dong-Hyun staggering beside Jaebin whose trying to steady him.

And then he was at Dong-Hyun's side at an instant.

The teenager's face is wet with tears, and his hands try to clutch at Jaebin.

"D-Demon... T-Two!"

He mindlessly stammered, tilting his head to repeatedly look around them, as if he'd been seeing something they couldn't see.

Yeonbin followed soon after and check his eyes around the area.

"It's alright, Dong-Hyun. Calm down!"

So Eun soothed him, the child looked at him before wailing even harder.

"Young M-Master! Help..."

He desperately voiced, both his two hands withdrawn and clasping at So Eun's instead.

So Eun reassured his frantic actions and firmly grasp the other's figure. Causing to look at him more clearly now.

Only then did he notice something wrong.

Dong-Hyun continued to cry out for help, even though So Eun's right beside him.

"Shh, calm down, what happened?"

His eyes dilated, expression mirroring the danger he saw just before they found him.

"The other Demon nearly killed me, S-So Eun." He groaned, tears already pouring down.

It was uncanny that So Eun trembled before him.

Dong-Hyun did not stop staggering, his eyes are all crowded with black swirling smoke, looking like a spiral abyss staring deep through So Eun's.

As if it was enough to drag anyone who would ever look too long at his eyes.

"Help me! I-I can't see anything." So Eun felt his heart was stabbed right in the back.
