Yulie Anne was the youngest and the only girl out of the four. At the very least she considered her two older brothers her real brothers when in reality they were not. They were merely brothers of her real older brother over a cup of sake. Nonetheless, they were siblings.
Monkey D. Yulie Anne was what her grandpa had named her. The hero of the navy, Monkey D. Garp was a vice-admiral who had many accomplishments during his prime time. While her father, Monkey D. Dragon, one whom she had never met before, started the revolutionary army. And her biological brother, Monkey D. Luffy was someone who was making a name for himself as a pirate, and Yulie believed that he would someday become the king of pirates.
All of these accomplishments within her family and yet here she was, stuck in a small village in the East Blue. Do not get her wrong, she loved the townspeople and she considered everyone their family. But she could not take the awful feeling of being a nobody especially when her whole family had accomplished so many things and made a name for themselves.
Even her nonbiological brothers, the late Portgas D. Ace who was the second commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, and Sabo who is the number 2 of the revolutionary army had made a name that would be remembered throughout history.
In a worn-out tree house, Yulie closed her diary and inhaled the fresh air. This tree house was built by her three brothers when they were young. She was of course too young to go out with their endeavors, so she stayed in her almost mother's house by the woods. Dadan was what they called her, and Yulie considered her as her mom rather than just a caretaker.
The tree house resembled that of a pirate ship and you could see the view of the blue sea and sky up front. Yulie loved this view, it reminded her of her brothers who are all out there now. She smiled and stretched out her hand to the sea in front of her.
"I wonder when my time will come"
As she pondered on this thought, she suddenly remembered that not once even after two years did she visit her late brother. She suddenly grinned widely as she saw this as an opportunity. Now, she may be different from her brothers in terms of their achievements. But, she is just as reckless as her biological brother, Luffy. Maybe, even more so.
"Yulie, boss won't agree"
"That's right, it would also be dangerous"
Yulie sighed as she listened to Dogra and Magra, they were the ones who took care of her and the ones who knew that she had never left this town, not even once. Yulie made sure that Dadan was out because she would never allow her to go, especially not by herself.
Yulie grabbed the small shoulders of Dogra and leveled herself to him.
"I'll just visit Ace. It'll be just a week trip from here if I get on the ships that travel along the Grandline to the New World. Besides, it'll be escorted by marines. You don't need to worry. I'll be back after two weeks"
Yulie reassured them and gave them a confident smile. That of course was a lie. Yulie had kept a secret from her family for so many years and now is the only time that she would be able to use it.
You see, four years ago, right after her brother had set sail, she was able to acquire a devil's fruit. Well, acquirement may be a light word, as she originally stole it from a pirate ship that had been harbored in their town. The chou-chou no mi, a zoan-type devil fruit grants her the same abilities as that of a butterfly. But, she had learned to awaken this and can now successfully use its abilities without losing her normal human form.
Not only that but she had learned how to teach the butterflies abilities that no one would even dare imagine. Using some of the butterflies that she had grown herself, of course out of a real butterfly, she knew which way it would be easier for her to travel until she reached the grandline.
Sure, she lied about the one-week travel, it would take at least 5-7 weeks even in a navy vassal if she wanted to get to Ace but Dogra and Magra couldn't have known about that. Like her, they had never set off to the sea. This was after all the reason why they're called mountain bandits.
With a little more persuasion to the two, Yulie was finally able to set off. She wrote a simple letter addressed to Dadan, and another one to her grandfather. She didn't bother saying goodbye to Makino, the town mayor, and everybody else. She didn't want any grand sent off like her brothers. Instead, she quietly snuck up to the ships that had harbored near Goa Kingdom and settled herself.
She smiled to herself as she tried to list the places that she should go visit once she was in the new world. Of course, visiting Ace was her top priority now, but she wondered what else was there to see.
She couldn't contain her excitement. She was now setting off to the new world. She would see the places that her brothers had been to and she would meet different kinds of people.
Yulie, who was full of hope and naivety for the outside world, set off to the sea with a smile plastered on her face. Little did she know, everything was about to change. Little did she know that she would make a name that would be remembered throughout history.
A name that would transcend both time and space.
