Chapter 323: The Dome
Eight enormous crystalline blades rose from the ground and stood a hundred feet high, surrounding the group menacingly.
"What shall we do now?" Asked Guernica
"Never faced an opponent like this one before, how did she survive Joseph's attack?, that should have been impossible." Wondered Maha.
"We just need to find her true body and kill her. She must have escaped underground." Joseph appeared calm on the surface, but deep inside, he was very much worried.
"Can we even kill her? I mean, she survived your attack from before…maybe she is truly immortal after all!." Guernica muttered.
He had heard many of the rumors circulating at the Headquarters about the water demon. Some people seemed to think that after archiving her awakening, Vivi had become impossible to kill. But their higher-ups have quickly silenced those rumors.
"Stop spewing nonsense, Guernica, of course, she can die!. No one is immortal. My previous attack must have been too shallow and couldn't pierce her brain. I just need another shot and will not fail again!." Joseph assured them.
"We just have to find a way to lure her out."
"What do think she intends to do with these?" Maha tapped onto one of the ice blades with one of his knives.
"This feels almost like metal…"
"I don't know, but if she thinks she can hit us with such heavy weapons…then I have overestimated her intelligence." Joseph huffed.
"That woman is still alive? where is she?!" Orochi was losing his patience. Not that he had much to begin with.
"Bring her to me, now!"
"My Lord, I have a bad feeling….perhaps, it would be better to take this chance to retreat." Denjiro watched the giant ice blades with dread and tried to warn his Lord.
"Shut up!, you won't tell me what to do, I am the Great Orochi, I am the ruler here!, and my will is the l-"
Everything went wrong from there. And it all happened at an alarming speed.
The eight massive blades made crystalline ice…. shatter. All of them at the same time.
Each blade broke down into millions of small shards. The sound produced by this event, was the equivalent of a million glass windows breaking at the same time, all around them.
They had to cover their ears to protect themselves from any permanent damage.
But that was just the beginning of their problems.
The sharp shards of Vivi's ice did not just fall to the ground like one would expect. Instead, they started to fly in circles around them, creating a dome of sharp small blades that prevented them from escaping.
"We are trapped!" Guernica exclaimed.
"But where is she?, she can't be doing all of this from too far away!" Joseph glanced around, trying to pinpoint her current position.
"I can feel her aura all around all!, how is she doing this?"
The speed of the shards continued to increase while each individual shard started to rotate around themselves.
When the millions of spinning blades reached the speed of sound, these started to produce a terrifying sound.
"Denjuro, do something!" Orochi was visibly terrified.
"I…I don't know what to do….I don't even have my katana." Not that he thought it would be of much use right now.
"We need to escape before is too late," Maha said with urgency.
"He is right, we can't concern ourselves with the mission any longer or we will lose our lives!. I told you this was a bad idea!. We should never have confronted that monster." Guernica shouted.
The cage of ice shards had now started to close around them, making their demise even more imminent.
"Tsk!, is just a few sharp pieces of ice, what are you two so scared of?!." Joseph's suit turned black as he started to coat it with armament haki.
"Tekkai!" He then shouted and his skin adopted a dark metal tone.
The dome made of ice shards continued to close at a fast pace, forcing the occupants to group closer together.
"Don't just stand there!, stop this thing!" Orochi screamed at the agents. His expression showed how terrified he was.
On the ground, there were the remains of the palanquin, as well as several other objects from the previous fight. They all saw them turn into dust as soon as they made contact with the spinning shards of ice.
"Wait, Joseph. Let's think about this a bit more!" Maha shouted.
"I'll see you outside." Joseph jumped without hesitation and charged directly at the dome walls.
His reinforced suit made contact fight and it turned into shreds without an ounce of resistance.
his skin, which had been reinforced with a mixture of tekkai and haki, came next and turned into mince meat.
Josep let out a bloodcurdling scream as his body was cut millions of times and turned into an indescribable pile of a bloody mess that rained onto his two companions, a terrified Daimyo, and his samurai.
