Chapter 74: Robin and Kai

Kai let him run away as he really couldn't care less about one random petty officer. His thoughts were about to focus back into what he was thinking about before he was interrupted when he was interrupted again.

"Why the long face?" A concerned voice sounded out from behind him.

Kai paused and took a deep breath before turning to face the voice. He started to calm down a little when he heard who it was and eventually a small smile formed on his face as the worries he had started to drift to the back of his head and he eventually forgot about them.

"I was just thinking about something. No big deal." Kai responded.

The other person walked a bit closer towards Kai, revealing that it was Robin who was concerned about him.

She smiled and giggled. "Fufufu. 'No big deal'. I bet you were thinking about something huge like overthrowing the government or making the world a perfect place."

Kai had a wry smile as he chuckled. "Ahaha. Well yea… something like that."

Robin shook her head and smiled. "I knew it. You're too uptight sometimes. Have you ever thought that you should just relax a little, maybe even ignore the rest of the world? It's not your job to do all this, so you don't need to be ashamed of taking a little break and letting things play out naturally. You don't need to control everyone and fix everything with one of your master plans all the time. I want you to enjoy your own life too. I care about you being happy, just like you care about me and the crew being happy."

Kai let out an exasperated sigh as he resigned himself to Robin. "You're right. I know that. Sometimes I just get caught up in things and it spirals. Thanks, for helping me out of it. I'm just so tense and scared about losing one of my family members, or losing you, that I overthink a lot."

Robin giggled and patted his back to comfort him. "I must be lucky to have you care so much about me then. I wonder what I did in my past life to deserve you? Maybe I was a hero or something."

Kai chuckled. "As if either of us had it easy in this life. We both almost died so many times I bet we both lost count."

"Nishishishi! That's true, maybe we'll even die together when Aokiji comes back for revenge. Or maybe we'll meet some zombies and become a part of the undead army." Robin joked.

Kai was once again shocked at Robin's joke. Maybe she really could read the future? Her foresight was almost uncanny. Kai would have thought more into it if he wasn't busy laughing at the dark humor.

"Wahaha! Maybe we will, but at least we'll die together now." Kai replied.

Robin smiled and grabbed Kai's hand with hers. "Dying together sounds nice, kinda romantic."

Kai nodded. "Wahaha! Exactly! I'm glad you get me, devil-chan."

Robin smiled and pecked Kai on the mask. "Of course I do. You're mine after all."

Kai felt his heart race when he heard that. This was exactly what he had always wanted, this feeling, it was perfect. He felt whole, full, like he had just finished a puzzle by putting in the last piece. Everything clicked and he felt like he was seeing a complete picture. He froze in ecstasy for a moment before bursting into laughter.

"WAHAHA! I see." Kai said as he came to a huge realization about something.

Robin was intrigued. "I thought you already knew everything, Mr. genius. What could you have possibly discovered?"

"I thought I knew everything too, I guess not." He said, choosing to avoid telling Robin his new conclusion.

Robin pouted. "Are you not gonna tell me?"

Kai's heart skipped a beat, 'Too cute!' he thought, feeling jubilant at the mere thought that this cute girl was his girlfriend. He took a moment to calm his racing heart down before he finally replied to Robin who was eagerly awaiting his answer.

"Sorry, Robin, maybe I'll tell you next time." Kai said as he smiled to himself with a refreshed look in his eyes.

He was feeling a lot better. Robin's presence was more than enough to calm him down and sooth his thoughts. He visibly relaxed as he completely forgot everything he was just wrapped up in and had his focus shift 100% to the woman in front of him.

Robin was slightly irked that Kai had decided not to tell her what they were just talking about, but soon let it slide as she saw Kai's demeanor shift from stiff to relaxed as he calmed down. She looked up from his body and towards his face only to meet his eyes.

The moment Robin's eye's met Kai's she saw a deep caring and happiness within them as he was looking in her direction. Robin felt her cheeks turn warm as she giggled in glee, completely forgetting the conversation the two were just having.

The two both stared into each other's eyes for a long moment, both completely star stuck at one another and basking in the joy they felt in this precious moment. After a few seconds of maintaining this invaluable feeling they both inched their faces closer to one another.

Meeting in the middle of the space between the two after what felt like an eternity of waiting for them. They started a deep passionate kiss and wrapped their arms around one another as they pulled each other's bodies closer.

They fell into each other's embrace and savoured the kiss like it was the most important thing in the world. After a moment of passion they slightly pulled away from each other while maintaining eye contact.

A smile befell both of their faces as they looked at one another lovestruck and lost in the moment.

In a daze Kai muttered. "Amazing."

Robin faintly heard Kai's words as she snapped out of her own daze. She felt the blood roaring in her ears as her heart raced. She felt intoxicated, like this feeling was a drug and she was hooked.

Robin reached out towards Kai and pulled him in. "More."

Kai absentmindedly nodded and obliged as he leaned back in for another kiss. Pulling Robin towards him as if she was his only lifeline, the only thing he needed to survive.

They each pulled each other in as they locked lips once again. It almost looked as if they were each trying to pull the other into themselves and become one as they melted into each other. They continued sharing a moment of ecstasy with one another before pulling away to catch their breaths.

After a few deep breaths they locked eyes once more. Words were no longer needed for them to communicate what each of them wanted from one another. They both wanted, no, they both needed more of each other. They leaned towards one another at the exact same time without a word needing to be exchanged.

After their lips met and they fell into another kiss Robin slowly reached her tongue out of her mouth and entangled it with Kai's. They continued to hold each other tenderly as their tongues danced, enjoying the taste of the other persons. After a while they both nearly forgot to take a breath as they felt such an intense feeling of comfort, like this is how they were always supposed to feel.

They pulled away slowly once more as they gasped for air. They both stared at each other with an intense passion. Just when Kai was about to get completely lost in the moment he snapped himself out of it.

The moment he regained his wits he laughed maniacally. "WAHAHAHAHA!"

He was feeling such an intense joy and happiness at this moment that he just laughed. There was nothing else he could do to express his feelings at the moment. There was nothing else he could feel but this pure unbridled joy and belonging, like this was what was meant to be.

"NISHISHISHI!" Robin suddenly joined Kai in his laughter.

Robin was feeling the exact same way as Kai at this moment. Nothing else mattered to the two right now as they both only basked in this new feeling.

This feeling they both had in the pits of their stomach was one that you could never forget. It etched itself into their hearts and memories forever. This was true happiness. It was a feeling of joy unaccompanied by any other feelings. Just the pure heartwarming feelings of excitement, joy, and happiness. It was pure bliss.

The two laughed with each other for a while, both unable to explain the feelings they had. The only way that it could be expressed was with the laughter that erupted from them.

Once the two calmed down they looked each other in the eyes once more.

Kai felt his stomach twist as a myriad of emotions fluttered around inside him.

"Robin, I-" Kai started to say what was on his mind before pausing.

The nervousness he felt overwhelmed him and caused him to end his statement short. Kai felt a deep fear when he considered the possible outcome that his words might bring. He decided to keep his thoughts to himself in fear of ruining what he had just found for the first time in both of his lives. He was too scared of the possibility of losing this new feeling. This love that he finally gained. He didn't want to risk the possibility that Robin wouldn't respond to his feelings.

Little did Kai know that Robin was currently in a very similar situation. She was currently wrapped up in her own thoughts of what to do with her own feelings. She was also debating whether or not she should confess her newfound feelings of love. The fear was welling up inside her as she was made aware of the possibility of rejection.

Aware of the possibility that her saying anything could possibly ruin the most important thing she had. She was made painfully aware of the possibility that rejection could mean going back to the way things were before she met Kai. Back to when she didn't even care for life and wished to die.

As the two both struggled internally and debated whether to confess their love. They both came to different conclusions of what they should do. Kai decided to hold off on anything as he was scared of losing the most brilliant and dazzling light in his life so soon after he found it. However Robin had made the opposite conclusion. She wanted to tell Kai what she felt. She felt like if she didn't do it now and something happened then she would regret it for the rest of her life.

Robin took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Trying to force her nervousness back down and bring out the courage to speak her mind.

Robin exhaled her deep breath and started speaking. "I want to tell you something."
