Chapter 29: Chopper, the talking dog

"What's it take to get a good doctor around here?" Kai shook his head and started walking towards the castle. "You guys can bring those two right?" He asked Dr. Kureha and Chopper. "Heeheehee. What kind of monster are you? You look like you didn't break a sweat." Kureha asked Kai as she picked up Sanji and Chopper picked up Luffy still dragging him on the ground a bit.

"You're the doctor. You tell me." Kai said as the three of them walked towards the castle. "Heeheehee. You're a pretty interesting guy. You're a marine who helped out pirates that you could catch in a second if you were serious. Why are you even here?"

Kai lit a cigarette and took a drag. "I have my reasons. Besides, these guys will do big things in the future. They are great people. Ah. Do you want one?" Kai asked as he held out his cigarettes for Kureha to take. "No thanks, those things are bad for you when you get older." Kai chuckled. "I thought it wouldn't matter if you had eternal youth."

"Heeheehee. Did you just ask my secret to eternal youth?" Chopper added in. "He didn't ask that, he asked if it would be bad to smoke if you ha-" Kureha cut Chopper off. "Well I'm not gonna tell ya! Heeheehee!" Kai shook his head at her antics. "So what's up with the talking dog?"

"I'm not a dog! I'm a reindeer!" Chopper yelled. Kai took a step back like he was shocked. "Really? My bad I must have mistook you for a talking dog." Kai apologized. "It's alright." Chopper said. Kai turned to Kureha before asking again. "So what's up with the talking dog?"

"I'm a reindeer!" Chopper yelled as Kureha laughed. "Heeheehee. That's Chopper. He's my assistant." Kai just ignored Chopper. "Cool. So the dog can do medicine?"

"I'm not a dog!!! I'm a reindeer!!" Kureha ignored Chopper as well. "Yeah, he's almost as good as me. He could be a doctor on his own without my help." Kai just whistled, impressed, and patted Chopper's head. "You're a really smart dog! That's really impressive!"

"Shut it. It's not like I'm happy about that you bastard." Chopper said as he blushed and had a huge smile on his face. "Wahahaha! You're pretty funny Chopper! I wish I had a dog like you." Kureha laughed at this. "I'm not a dog bastard!" Chopper yelled out before he started to blush and said. "You think I'm funny? Really? Don't think that makes me happy."

"Wahaha! Hey doctrine I might just take this dog with me! I really like him!" Kureha smacked his head only for it to explode into air. "He's my assistant!" Chopper saw Kai's head reform from the air and started shaking. "G-g-g-g-g-ghost!" He dropped Luffy and ran to hide behind a pillar only for him to hide the wrong way.

"WAHAHAHA! This is the best dog ever!" Luffy woke up because he was dropped by Chopper. He looked around and saw Chopper because he was hiding the wrong way. "MEAT!" He yelled with stars in his eyes and started chasing Chopper.

Kai set Nami down in a bed and laughed. "Wahaha! I really wanna take him!" Kureha heard this and said. "Do you think you can heal his heart?" Kai said. "Wait. No story time until these two are up." He pointed at Sanji and Nami and Kureha nodded.

Three hours later.

Nami woke up only to see Kai running with Chopper on his shoulders and Luffy and Sanji chasing them. "Meat! Get back here!" Luffy yelled as he chased Chopper. "He isn't meat! He's a dog!" Kai yelled at Luffy. "That's right! I'm not meat! I'm a Dog! Wait, no! I'm a reindeer!" Chopper yelled as he sat on Kai's shoulders.

"What the fuck happened?" Nami asked in disbelief. "Heeheehee." Nami turned her head to see an old lady laughing. "You're friends over there climbed a mountain to get you to a doctor. Good thing too. You would have died in 3 days if you didn't get help."

Nami was shocked but before she could respond Kureha said. "Don't speak. You need to rest right now. You're still sick." Nami nodded and went back to bed.

Two hours later.

Nami woke up again to see Sanji asleep by her bedside. She smiled to herself at this. Then she looked around the room to see Chopper trying to help with her treatment. "Hello." She said. Chopper heard her and ran out of the room and hid behind the door peeking inside. He hid the wrong way with his whole body visible and only his forehead hidden behind the door.

"Wahaha. I love this dog!" Kai said, causing Nami to turn and see Kai sitting on the window seal behind her. "I'm not a dog!" He yelled at Kai before he blushed and said. "Do you really love me? It's not like I care about that, you bastard." Sanji woke up because of the commotion and Kureha walked into the room. "You're finally up." She said as she sat down.

Just then Luffy got out of his bed that was on the other side of the room as his injuries were mostly fine now. "Meat! I found you! Let me eat you or join my crew! Or both! Shishishi!" He started chasing Chopper again, but this time Kai wasn't helping the little reindeer. "Storytime?" Kai asked Kureha. She nodded and told the crew Chopper's story.

Nami cried at it and Sanji and Kai just took in a long drag of smoke at the end and exhaled at the same time. "Do you think you guys have what it takes to heal his little heart?" Kureha asked the three as she left the room.
