Chapter 4 - Kara Kara no Mi

Lepus then returns to his camp near a large tree.

Arriving at the big tree, Lepus began to prepare a bonfire to roast the fish for his dinner.

After the bonfire began to smolder, Lepus stabbed a small twig that he had cleaned into the mouth of the fish he was going to roast.

After the fish he roasted looked cooked, he began to eat his dinner.

"Not bad for an unseasoned dinner."

After dinner, Lepus took the devil fruit he just got and looking thoughtfully.

"Hmm... From the shape, it looks like it's not a Logia type."

Lepus came to this conclusion after remembering about the devil fruit form that was seen in the main story of One Piece. Logia fruit has a fruit shape that looks reflect to the strength of the fruit itself. The outside of the Yami-Yami no Mi example. It has the shape of pineapple-like but with a swirling scales and is purple in color. Meanwhile, the outer Mera-Mera no Mi fruit is in the form of a collection of swirling and orange fire seeds which clearly proves that this devil fruit gives the power of fire.

"Not Logia it seems. Then Zoan or Paramecia. Hmm...."

Lepus is quite confused because the shape and form of Zoan and Paramecia type devil fruits are quite common and not much different.

Like in the Enies Lobby Arc, Kaku and Kalifa had the opportunity to choose one of the two devil fruits given to them. But from the two fruits, although the shape and form is quite common, it turns out that after being eaten the two fruits turn out to be two different types, namely Zoan and Paramecia.

"Hmm... Looks like I have to eat it to know what type this fruit is and what power it gives."

Without much hesitation, Lepus decided to eat the devil fruit and not keep it to be sold or given to others later.

"Okay. If this fruit is a Zoan type, it would be great if it turns out to be a Mythical Zoan power. But if it's a Paramecia, I hope it gives a pretty good and useful power. I'll start... 1, 2, 3!"

Lepus took a bite of the devil fruit and immediately swallowed it.

"Huueekkk.... It tastes really bad."

Like in the original story, devil fruit has an extremely unpleasant and disgusting taste.

A few moments later, Lepus began to get rid of the remaining bad taste of the devil fruit after eating some ordinary fruits like berries.

"Now.... What power do I get? Zoan or Paramecia?"

By closing his eyes and focusing on concentrating, Lepus tried to evoke the power he got from the devil fruit he just ate.

"....."

Moments later, Lepus opened his eyes.

He did not feel or see there were certain changes that appeared in his human form. And this meant that it was most likely that the power Lepus had acquired was not a Zoan Type.

"Not Zoan, huh.... Maybe Paramecia. I'll try."

Lepus then slowly swung his arm. As he swung his arm, a purple-black glow appeared, and then… the boulder in front of him disappeared!

"Hm! Disappear!? Could it be the Suke-Suke no Mi?"

Lepus was surprised! Lepus then groped at the place where the boulder had been but he felt nothing as if from the start there was no stone or anything else except air.

"Really disappeared!? Hm.... Is this fruit's power to remove objects? Then, can things that were removed be reappeared? Let me give it a try."

Lepus swung his arm again.

"Hm! It reappears.... Looks like the thing that was removed can be brought back again."

Lepus concluded.

"Hm.... How about aiming at myself? Can I disappear too? I'll try."

Then Lepus swung his arm again, but this time he focused on his own other hand.

"Hm? I still can see my hand? Does it means the ability only effective on something other than the user himself?"

Lepus then concluded.

"This fruit's power is to remove/hide objects, not making objects transparent or invisible. And besides, it seems to only have an effect on objects other than the user himself. Which means obviously the devil fruit I just ate wasn't the Suke-Suke no Mi. What I just ate was a devil fruit that had never been found and identified before. Then, what will I name it?"

Because this fruit was discovered and identified for the first time, generally the person who eat the fruit are entitled to name the new devil fruit they eat.

"Okay. Since its power is to remove/hide, I will name this fruit Kara-Kara no Mi, after the word Kara which means none/empty!"

After that, Lepus tried again the power of his devil fruit until then he was quite tired and sleepy.

"Time to sleep. Good night."
