(Chapter 33) Instruments and fatherhood

Ryu walked into his room onboard the ship, For some reason he was one of the only people that had their own on the ship but he wasn't complaining as the privacy helped him

The room wasn't very special, It had a normal size bed a cabinet and a dresser, He sighed before jumping on the bed

The day was tiring as they had to hunt all day to refill the food supply, they were able to fill up on drinking water by using the river nearby but other than that he was mostly sparing with Rayleigh

The man was very kind towards him ever since finding him in the broken-down home, The man was like an older brother of sorts to him

Ryu soon spotted something poking from under the bed as he pulled it out, Ryu was awed when seeing the instrument

It was a brown classical guitar, He dusted it off before pulling on a string as the instrument hummed

Ryu giggled as he pulled on the strings creating a very calming tune, Someone soon knocked on the door

'You can come in, the door is unlocked said Ryu, Soon Rayleigh entered the room closing the door behind him

'Hah I was wondering where I put that old thing' he said as he sat down on the bed next to the boy

'Oh, Sorry using it without your permission Rayleigh-san' Rayleigh sighed before smiling again as he took the guitar from his hands

'My old man gave this to me before he passed wanna learn how to play?' He asked as he started playing a tune

Ryu smiled before nodding as he listened to the man play, He was very good at using the instrument as the boy was easily mesmerized by the melody

Rayleigh soon stopped before handing the Guitar over to Ryu as he taught him some of the basics of playing

An hour later and Rayleigh is baffled at the way the kid is just soaking up his lessons, He's still an amateur but at the rate at which he learned he would probably become even better than him in a few months

Soon after Rayleigh stood up before leaving the room, 'I'm off to bed Don't stay up to late, I'll be teaching you something new tomorrow morning and I don't want you to be a tired mess when we start' Ryu just nodded before putting the guitar back under the bed

'Goodnight Rayleigh-san' The man just sighed once more before giving him a tired smile, 'If your going to keep using honorifics call me Nii-san'

He closed the door soon after as Ryu smiled comfortably closing the lamp beside the bed and closed his eyes

(2 days after the Raid on Shima)

{Sphinx island}

Newgate got off the ship, The baby never left his sight as he fed him some milk, It was his first time taking of a child and it was exhausting

The kid was a handful, He ran around the ship all day long before tiring himself and sleeping for a few hours

He then would wake up in the middle of the night and cry until I let him sit on my lap before as I hum a tune before going to sleep again

Not to mention that they didn't have any diapers onboard so whenever he cried he had to rush him to the side of the ship to either take a dookie in the ocean unless he wants to get his clothes dirty

Newgate just sighed as he waved Shiki off, "That brat drank all of the booze onboard, I'd rather use a rowboat instead of sailing with that horned brat again He thought

Shiki soon left with the use of his devil fruit abilities making their ships float away into the distance as Newgate turned back and headed into the town

Sphinx island didn't have any connections with the world government so they relied on him to keep the island safe

It was the least he could do as this place was his home, He was soon greeted by the people who cheered at his arrival

Newgate smiled before making his way deeper into the town, He soon reached the home of the mayor as he knocked on the door

The mayor was a plump old man who used to take care of Newgate when he was a child, As soon as he opened the door he smiled looking up to see the boy he once raised

'It's good to see you Edward boy, Who's that your holding in your arms?' he asked as he looked at the baby

He was sure no one in the village gave birth to a child so was it Edward's child? He just shook his head before smiling

'Gurarara you never change old man, This is Marco and he's my son' Declared the soon-to-be strongest man in the world

The Townspeople cheered hearing that their guardian had a child, The old man smiled as he guessed the reason the man was here

'You want us to take care of your child, We get it you can't take a kid to the high seas' said the Mayor before taking the sleeping boy from his father's arms

Newgate sighed as he nodded 'Yes it's far too dangerous and the people I work with aren't family friendly'

The mayor nodded before calling out 'This calls for a celebration, Bring out the booze!' Newgate just grinned as the baby opened his eyes and giggled seeing his father

(Present time)

{Shores of Kuri}

Ryu woke up early as he looked outside and saw that the sun wasn't up yet, He sighed before jumping out of the bed

He looked down to see his torn kimono before getting an idea, He grabs the Guitar strapping it to his back before leaving the Ship

"I remember that Wano doesn't use Belli like Captain and Rayleigh nii-san do so I need to make a little bit of money, and my clothes should be enough for me to blend in" thought Ryu as he headed inside the bamboo forest

After a few minutes of walking he soon spots a village, as the sun started to rise, people were walking around as street vendors opened their stalls

Ryu just smiles as he walks into the village soon noticing that the people looked tired and sad

He soon stops in a busy section of the street before settling down near a set of stairs, He pulls the guitar from his back before adjusting the strings

He soon starts playing the guitar using a melody Rayleigh Nii-san taught him, As the people passed by him

A few of them stopped as they enjoyed the melody, A few children poked out of the windows of the homes as they started at the red-haired boy playing the strange instrument

He soon finishes and as he opens his eyes he sees that all of the people had stopped and we're staring at him

They soon cheered, Some of them came up to him before giving him a few silver and bronze coins

As soon as he was done counting the total came up to 6 silver coins and 27 bronze ones, this made the boy happy as he sat up before making his way towards a clothes shop

If he remembered correctly his grandfather showed him that silver coins were around 500 Berries while bronze ones were around 100

So if he totalled it correctly he had around 5700 berries, He soon made it to the stall as he looked at the kimonos

Soon a black and red kimono caught his eye as well as an orange Haori, Ryu just smiles before asking the old lady

'Excuse me oba-chan how much for these two' he points out the sets of clothes, The old lady smiles before replying

'The kimono is 6 silver coins while the haori is 1.5 silvers' she replied, Ryu soon gave her 6 silver coins and 15 bronze when

The lady smiled before wrapping them in some cloth and handing it to the boy, 'Here you go deerie'

Ryu smiled before taking it from her 'Thank you very much' he bowed before making his way towards the exit of the village, he passed a food vendor before buying a loaf of bread with the rest of his money

Oden just smiled seeing the display as he eyed the sword strapped on the boy's waist eying it, "What a beautiful sword" he thought before shrugging and going on with his day
