The next day, Yato got up early, changed his clothes, and headed toward the ninja school. Since today was the day his class would meet their guiding Jonin, he didn't send a shadow clone in his stead.
On the way to the school, he bumped into Sasuke, who merely spared him a glance before walking away. Yato also didn't bother to greet him and continued on his way. Despite knowing each other for years and training together, they couldn't be considered friends. For Sasuke, Yato was the opponent his brother set him up to beat before he was strong enough to go after him. As for Yato, Sasuke was merely a training dummy to test his skills on.
When they arrived at the classroom, they found themselves to be the last two to arrive. Yato looked around the classroom for a moment before heading toward his seat, which he hadn't occupied for years. Everyone in Class 1A looked like older versions of themselves, the only difference being the Konoha headbands hanging from various parts of their bodies. Yato glanced at the noisy Naruto, who kept showing off the headband on his forehead.
In the official exam, Naruto failed to perform the Clone Jutsu, resulting in his failure to graduate. Many students witnessed that. However, here he was, wearing Konoha's headband, signaling that he had successfully graduated. The happy Naruto came in front of Yato and pointed to his forehead. "See this? From today on, I am also a ninja, and I will soon become the Hokage of Konoha!"
After glancing at him, Yato ignored him and looked out the window. However, Inuzuka Kiba became unhappy when he heard Naruto's boast. His goal was also to become Hokage, and his dream was to have everyone in Konoha Village raise a dog.
"Don't brag, Naruto. The man who will become Hokage is me, Inuzuka Kiba!"
"Woof!"
"Tsk, a guy who sleeps with a dog every day, how can he be qualified to be Hokage? Aren't you afraid people from other villages will laugh at you?" Naruto said contemptuously. Naruto's disdainful attitude stemmed from the fact that Kiba's dog once bit his butt. Kiba didn't like Naruto's attitude and kept arguing to the point that they almost started fighting.
Seeing Naruto and Kiba about to start a fight, the annoyed Shikamaru lay on the table, trying to return to his nap. "Shikamaru, can you please stop being like this just for today? What impression will we give our instructor?" Ino said, seeing her friend's lazy attitude.
"Haha, just leave him be. If Shikamaru gets serious someday, I'll be worried," Choji said while eating chips.
"I'm talking about both of you..."
Ino covered her forehead, feeling helpless toward her friends Shikamaru and Choji. She only wished not to be assigned to the same team as the two of them when the classes were divided. She knew the chances were slim since the Ino-Shika-Cho combination had always been one of Konoha's ace teams, and the Nara, Akimichi, and Yamanaka families had been allies since the Warring States period. Their ninjutsu complemented each other, and long-term cooperation allowed them to develop many combat techniques. Therefore, barring any surprises, the three of them would be assigned to the same team.
"I wonder who our guiding Jonin will be?"
Everyone wondered the same thing. Some started to complain, hoping they wouldn't be assigned to Kakashi, given the rumors that he had sent graduates back to the ninja school for retraining for two consecutive years. However, some still wished to be under Kakashi, including Hanabi.
Despite Kakashi's bad reputation for sending graduates back for retraining, many ambitious graduates hoped to become his students, especially civilian ninjas. The title of "Copy Ninja" was enticing. No one knew how many kinds of ninjutsu Kakashi had mastered thanks to the Sharingan. According to the adult ninjas in the village, Kakashi knew at least a thousand kinds of ninjutsu, covering the five attributes of water, wind, fire, earth, and lightning. This vast wealth of knowledge made graduates with no background eager to be his students, despite the risks.
However, some students didn't care who their teacher was. For example, girls like Sakura and Ino only hoped to be assigned to the same class as Uchiha Sasuke.
Amid the noise, Iruka, the homeroom teacher, finally walked into the classroom. He walked a little stiffly due to yesterday's injury, but when he saw the students, he immediately smiled, forgetting his pain.
In a blink of an eye, six years had passed, and those children, no matter how naughty or taciturn they had been, had now successfully graduated. Looking at the young yet familiar faces, Iruka felt a mix of relief and reluctance. He raised a hand to quiet the noise and sincerely wished everyone a successful graduation.
"I've already said what I should have at the graduation ceremony. Anyway, congratulations on your successful graduation..."
After a brief congratulatory statement, Iruka, like the students, waited for the arrival of the guiding Jonin. As the homeroom teacher, he had the authority to advise the Hokage on team assignments. However, the final decision was the Hokage's, so he didn't know the exact division of his class.
After about ten minutes, someone finally walked into the classroom. He looked a little out of place, wearing Konoha's emerald green vest, with silver-white hair, and a forehead protector worn diagonally, covering his left eye. He didn't seem to care about the situation in the class at all, walking in with a book in his hands without looking at the road or the people. Even so, the students fell silent because he was the famous "Copy Ninja" of Konoha, Kakashi Hatake, said to have mastered thousands of ninjutsu.
The students had mixed reactions, all watching and observing.
Kakashi seemed oblivious to the situation and looked like he had taken the wrong road. He stopped at the podium and turned a page.
"Kakashi-senpai!" Iruka reminded, "Now is not the time to read."
Kakashi raised his head and glanced at Iruka, then closed the book, as if he had just come to his senses. "Ah, so we're here!"
In the audience, many students wanted to complain, thinking this was a fake Kakashi, too different from the rumors, and extremely unreliable.
"Then, whoever hears his name next, hurry to the rooftop as fast as you can."
As soon as he finished speaking, the eyes of many students who were eager to enter his team flashed.
"Uchiha Sasuke!"
'Sasuke-kun? Choose me, choose me now, you old white-haired pervert!' Sakura remained quiet on the surface but was roaring in her heart. But She was disappointed when Kakashi didn't choose her and instead, he glanced at the front row, "Uzumaki Naruto!"
"Eh? Me? I'm going to team up with Sasuke?"
Naruto didn't like the arrangements and started yelling. His actions aroused the anger of countless girls in the class, all of whom had a crush on Sasuke.
"It's Naruto!"
Hanabi suddenly wasn't as interested anymore. She knew the rules of class division. Including the guiding Jonin, there were only four members in a team at most. When Sasuke and Naruto joined the team, there was only one spot left in Kakashi's team. She looked at Yato next to her and preferred to be on the same team as him. But her sister's Hinata heart began to beat faster, hoping the next name called would be hers.
However, she was also disappointed. Kakashi turned his gaze to the last row and said, "Yagami Yato!"
"This…"
Everyone in Class A exclaimed in surprise, their eyes moving back and forth between the three. Even Shikamaru opened his eyes, not expecting these three to be assigned to the same team.
"Don't keep me waiting!"
Kakashi didn't speak any further before he turned into smoke and disappeared. Even for such an important matter as class division, he didn't show up in person, merely sending a shadow clone.
"Yato..."
Hanabi was worried. In her memory, over the years, when these three got together, they mostly fought and quarreled.
"I'll go first." Yato stood up and jumped out of the window to be the first to arrive.
