The days had passed, and the two days of working with Mt. Lady had ended. Now we can see Naruto in front of the heroine's door, carrying a bag on his back and wearing a gray sweatshirt with white pants. "This is goodbye," Yu stood right in the door frame, smiling a bit discouraged. She never thought that this boy, even with his attitude, would become someone with whom she could form a bond of companions.
"Maybe it's a see you soon," was Naruto's simple response. He remained serious but raised his right hand, extending it to the heroine, who blinked in surprise. "It was good to work with you during this time." They shook hands as a farewell, creating a pleasant atmosphere between them.
"It's kind of ironic that I learned more from you than you from me," Yu smiled awkwardly, letting go of the teenager's hand. "I just want you to know that even though I judged you badly at first, you showed me that I was wrong about many things, and I can only say thank you." She looked gratefully at the younger blonde, who stood at the entrance, listening. "I hope that someday we work side by side, or when you grow a little, well, I'm free for appointments." She winked, trying to embarrass the teenager, but he only shook his head with a faint smile.
"We won't see each other soon, Yu-san." Naruto turned around and headed towards the street. However, he stopped when arms wrapped around him, and an extra weight was added to his back. With a tense posture, he felt the embrace of the Pro-hero. A strange silence formed between them, accompanied only by the wind moving the leaves of the trees, causing them to fall with the breeze.
"We'll see each other soon," Yu whispered, resting her head on the back of the teenager's neck, hugging him firmly. After a few moments, she let go and, without saying another word, ran home, closing the door behind her.
With a vacant look, Naruto stood on the street. Shaking his head, he took one last look at the heroine's home and then walked slowly to the train station. He had to return.
...
"Uzumaki-kun, we saw you on the internet! You're great!" Another day had passed, and now we focused again on the shinobi sitting in his respective place in the class, with his feet on the table and an irritated look. His classmates surrounded him, paying attention to the attention he was receiving.
"Everyone says that you saved hundreds of passengers on the train by risking your life!" Among those around the blonde teenager were Toru, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, and others, watching everything from a distance. "You are the sensation of the internet!" The invisible girl took out her phone, showing Naruto several sites praising his great feat.
"What a joy," Naruto said sarcastically, recognizing those internet pages. Just a few weeks ago, they called him a psychopath and a monster. Now they speak well of him. That was hypocrisy at its crudest.
"Sensei must be happy about this. Even if you don't care much about this attention, it's good that your image is being cleaned up, and they recognize how great you are," Midoriya spoke up this time, sitting a few tables away. The teacher snorted at what he heard.
"I don't give a damn what people say about me." With a yawn, Naruto let his head fall back against his bench.
"Well, you've been a sensation this week along with the hero killer," Kirishima added, making Naruto raise his head to look askance at the teenager. "They've made several videos of him, and from what he said when he faced the professional heroes, it's great." Kirishima smiled, extending his phone to Naruto to watch one of the many videos he mentioned.
"Kirishima-san," warned an unusually serious Deku, reluctant to talk about this topic.
"..." While the brats were talking, Naruto looked at the phone with Stain's photo. Giving a sigh, he left the phone on the table. It was difficult for him to believe that he let it go so easily. Although thinking about it, it was for the best. However, he continued with his idea of murdering the pro-hero because of his thoughts about them. Unfortunately, he would have to do what had to be done, not because he defended the pro-hero, but because there were objectives out there that were more worthwhile.
"Alright, everyone, take your seats..." Aizawa entered through the main door of the classroom. When he made an appearance, everyone resumed their places and remained silent. "I have to talk to you..."
As the hours passed, the Pro-hero explained to his students that in a few days, they would have a written exam and then a practical test, the nature of which was unknown. Some argued that it would be battling against a robot, similar to the entrance test they had a few months ago. Once class was over, everyone left the room, with Naruto being the first to leave, as always.
Although this time the shinobi stopped in the hallway between the students when he found Ibara walking behind him. "Ibara-san," saying her name at least tried to greet her, only to see how the green-haired girl passed by him without saying anything. Even looking at him, raising an eyebrow, the shinobi felt confused. It seems like she was having a bad day, and it would be better to give her space.
When he was going to continue on his way, he felt a hand touch his shoulder. "Naruto-san," the person showed to be Momo Yaoyorozu, who was relatively serious. "Can we talk in private?" He asked, maintaining a serious mask. His response was for the blonde to shake his head, pointing to an empty corridor. Both teenagers, ignoring the gaze of several of their classmates, headed to a private place.
"Do you think they have anything?" asked a curious Uraraka, who was next to her classmates, contemplating the possibilities that the class president had something with the strongest student in the class.
"Because people like him always get the prettiest girls," was Mineta's comment, who did not bother to hide his jealousy when he saw how one of the prettiest girls in the class went with that crazy man.
"Is Todoroki-chan okay?" Asui watched with concern as the red and white-haired teenager was strangely still, directing a gloomy gaze in the direction where those two had gone.
"Yes," with that answer, he turned around to head towards the exit of the academy. Returning to where Naruto and Momo were, we see how the latter bowed respectfully before the shinobi, making him raise an eyebrow in surprise.
"My Oka-san told me everything..." Without raising her head, the dark-haired teenager continued speaking. "You don't know what it means to me that you took a risk and saved my Oka-san from the League of Villains." Closing her eyes, she tried hard to prevent tears from forming. Maintaining her composure, she stood up to see that he was still calm. "I don't know how to thank you for this... I—" Before she could say anything else, she felt one of her hands lightly patting her head.
"A thank you is fine…" Shrugging his shoulders, the blonde just patted the girl's head a few more times and then turned around to leave, but stopped again when his jacket was taken.
"Wait!" Coming out of her stupor, the black-haired girl walked to stand in front of the bandaged boy. "My Oka-san said that you refused to let this become public and for any hero to take credit for what you did. Why?" She asked in search of answers, confused why the Uzumaki was someone so complicated to understand.
"..." With a sigh, the blonde saw that the girl wouldn't move unless he responded. "Listen, I'm not in the least interested in being rewarded for what I did. I have a job and a roof over my head; that's all I need. That you thank me is enough." Taking a step to the side, he began to walk again.
"..." In silence, Momo could only watch the shinobi leave. Joining her hands, she took a deep breath, reaching her hand to her backpack, she pulled out a small box. "I..." Calling Naruto's attention, she made him stop. Walking to him, she handed him the box. "I don't know if you'd accept it... but I noticed that you don't have a phone, and well... I—" Shyly, she opened the box to take out an old model phone. "Since you're not a fan of technology, I got an old one designed only to make calls and messages. It is resistant to water and shocks, and it can be useful in case you want to talk or if something happens. I hope you like it." Handing the cell phone to the shinobi, she looked forward to seeing if he would take it.
In silence, Naruto just took the phone. It was small and with a simple keypad. Looking the girl straight in the eyes, he saw the eagerness reflected in her eyes. "Thank you." With the cell phone in his hand, he put it away, earning a bright smile from the teenager Yaoyorozu.
"You're welcome, Uzumaki-san!" Happy, she could only feel good about this approach.
"Just call me... Naruto."
