A Pack of Wolves

Though already very weak, the Earth Bear still roared angrily and attacked the approaching Yeshua. It was resisting until its last breath.

The bear's big paw reached the wolf Yeshua, but the figure of Yeshua that it smacked was only an afterimage. Yeshua used Elusive Presence and flashed to the bear's side. He then violently swiped his sharp claws filled with wind blades to the head of the bear.

Splash!

Blood and brain splashed as the head of the bear were shattered by the powerful force of the Wind Claws. After standing for a while, the heavy body of the bear slammed to the ground.

"I'm really stronger now. I can finish this kind of battle very easily," mumbled Yeshua as he looked up while turning back into his human form.

After seeing the seven moons in the darkening sky, Yeshua remembered that he was already staying in the Red Wood Forest for almost a month.

In this month, Yeshua hunted a lot of spirit beasts and savage beasts. Most of the gene materials he collected from the beasts were higher quality since he did not want to carry a lot with him. He threw away the lower quality materials if he felt that he had too much.

Yeshua also foraged some gene herbs and gene fruits in the forest. Some of these gene plants could be directly consumed to help in cultivation. Most gene plants that could be seen in the wildlands had neutral properties, so any Alterer could absorb their effect.

But Yeshua did not use any of them, since he wanted to sell them then buy concocted medicines. Though they were more expensive, their effect was more efficient.

The most Yeshua collected were genome crystals and energy cores. The AI already analyzed the genome crystals. Most of the energy cores were being kept by him but he also got some wind affinity energy cores that he refined using his Windrage Wolf.

His soul temperance further increased after absorbing the wind energy cores. Then a week ago, after completely digesting one soul tempering medicine, Yeshua advanced to Level 1 Stage three.

In just a month, Yeshua advanced two stages. That was actually very quick since even those Alterers from clans had to spend 3 to 6 months to advance two stages.

This speed of cultivation was because of the resources Yeshua used, as well as the bloody battles he fought in this past month. Of course, it was also because Yeshua had a high soul potential. Being a fusion of two young souls and based on the true Yeshua's not-so-ordinary parents, Yeshua obviously did not have ordinary soul potential.

After his musing, Yeshua collected the genome crystal, energy core, and other gene materials on the Earth Bear's body. He then left the place to look for a place to rest for tonight.

"I'm already here for a month. I think it's time to go back. I also need to sell all my loot and replenish my supplies." Yeshua said to himself while walking barefooted in the forest. Looking at his torn and dirty gene clothes, Yeshua really felt that it was time to head back.

"Okay, tomorrow I will…" Before he could finish what he was supposed to say, Yeshua suddenly sensed some creatures approaching. They were fast that he did not have enough time to react before seeing them from a distance.

The creatures also noticed him but they still continued their mad dash like they were being pursued.

Yeshua prepared himself as he willed his transformation. This was something he learned during his hunting. His vigilance to the dangers of the forest made his action instinctive.

But before Yeshua could completely transform, a woman's panic cry reached him.

"Please, help us!"

Then, a series of wolf howls followed her voice. Yeshua was startled by the cry of the woman and the howls of the wolves.

Though he detected the fast approach of some creatures and he saw their silhouettes from a distance, Yeshua did not immediately realize that they were humans. After hearing the panic cry of the woman, Yeshua realized that the creatures were actually Alterers in their Alter form.

They were dashing madly and eventually reached a distance that Yeshua could see them. There were three Alterers in the group.

It seemed that the panic cry for help came to the sheep species Alterer. Based on the shape of the humanoid beast body, Yeshua assumed that the Alterer was a woman.

Her gene clothes were torn and stained with blood showing the red dyed wool covering her body. The blood might not only come from her as she was also supporting a bull species Alterer in her arms. The bull man seemed seriously injured as blood trailed behind him.

The sheep woman's black hooves were stomping very hard on the ground as she dashed with all her strength while dragging the injured bull man. Her hazel sheep eyes were filled with tears as she looked at Yeshua with desperation.

"Please help us!" The sheep woman cried out again. Before he could answer, Yeshua heard another voice.

"Sheila, what are you doing?! Don't get other people involve!" The voice was hoarse and sounded like it came from a man. Though he was short of breath, it did not stop the man to angrily rebuke the crying woman.

Yeshua saw that the man was a goat species Alterer. He was trailing behind the two Alterers and seemed like protecting their rear.

Yeshua then completely saw the situation of the three Alterers. The sheep woman was almost dragging the bull man as she put all her strength into running. The bull man's growling was filled with pain and savageness. It seems like he was losing control due to his severe injuries. The goat man was using an ability that looked like impaling woods. He was unleashing it behind him as he was trying to stall their pursuers.

Yeshua could see that behind the three bovine Alterers was a pack of blue wolves with swishing wind around them. Those were Wind Wolves!

There were five wolves pursuing the Alterers. Three of them were around stage 2 and the other two were stage three of level one.

At this time, the three Alterers were already near Yeshua. He was still in his human form, so the sheep woman saw his face illuminated by moonlight. The sheep woman seemed to recognize him as she gasped, "It's you!"

She remembered Yeshua and knew that he was only a new Alterer. She was really desperate for help and was not thinking properly. But when she recognized Yeshua, she realized that she put him in danger. Implicating Yeshua in their dangerous situation brought guilt to her.

Her hope of getting help was lost as she did not think that Yeshua would be able to help them in their predicament. Her eyes were filled with disappointment as well as guilt.

The goat man also recognized Yeshua and he was shocked. "You're that boy! What are you still standing there?! Run fast!"

Yeshua should have run away, but he suddenly had a feeling that he knew these Alterers. After hearing the goat man called the sheep woman Sheila and that they recognized him, Yeshua further confirmed it.

These were the hunters he met in the Trade Association. Sheila and James even advised him on what he needed to remember while he was in the forest.

But looking at the three Alterers, it seemed that they really needed some help. Yeshua even noticed that the strongest among them, James, was not here.

Yeshua did not answer the goat Cesar. He suddenly transformed into a dark blue werewolf and dashed towards the wolves.

Seeing Yeshua dashing valiantly like a hero saving a beauty, Cesar cried in shock. "Why are you dashing here? I told you to run but not to run here! Stop, boy! You're going to…"

But before Cesar could complete his warning, a blue flash passed by him carrying a violent burst of wind.

Wind Dash!

Caped with the blue wind, Yeshua quickly shortened his distance from the wolves. He then reached one of the Level 1 Stage 2 Wind Wolves. A flash of light imprinted in the air for a moment as he passed through it.

Awoooooo!

A pained howl followed as blood burst out of the wolf's body. Then, it crashed to the ground breathing its last breath. The level 1 stage 2 Wind Wolf died just like that from one attack of Yeshua.
