Episode 53: A wake up call

Meanwhile on the other side of the town that same night, Ramon was pacing back and forth, his mobile on his ear whilst Angello called for him.

"Keep that up and you're gonna rip off the floor."

"You say that 'cause this is not your brother who doesn't pick up the damn phone."

"We might not be related but that doesn't imply I don't worry about him either"

"Then shut the fxck up and do something about it!"

"He went out with Jack and his best friend. I'm sure something woulda happened we'd know by now."

"The same best friend who threw him into the sea whilst Jack was drowning in alcohol"

"If you put it like that it sounds like a terrible idea…"

A bright voice chirped in, holding a tray with some bowls.

"Who wants some ramen?"

Angello glared at the cheerful honey haired, whilst Ramon switched his gaze to stare at him.

"Smells nice. Can I have one?"

Angello turned his sharp gaze towards his childhood friend.

"Yeah, listen the human rabbit"

He walked away, stomping his feet on the ground.

Ramon looked his way, calling out to him.

"Ain't you gonna join us?"

"I'll grab a snack later. I've got stuff left to do"

Ramon's eyes widened as he pondered what it might be, by the table a pair of big, amber eyes focused on the latter, a soft pout on his pretty lips as he spoke softly.

"Are you gonna eat with me?"

Ramon smiled as he now stared at the bunny-like boy.

"It would be an honour"

They sat at the dining table with the steamy bowls in front of them enjoying their meal striking up a small conversation.

A pair of sharp and vibrant green eyes glanced their way from afar, balling his fist when the couple laughed over a drink.

"You should give up, man… he would never see you like that. Love is just an illusion, a waste of time…"

Angello muttered to himself as he moved away, not wishing to see more as his heart shattered into million tiny pieces, eyes glossy with concealed tears.

By the table Ramon chuckled as he told Jake anecdotes involving his workmate and best friend, they were embarrassing so he covered his mouth.

Jake nodded, loving how the male's dimples were more evident when he was happy.

"I can't believe someone would do that. Did you not get caught?"

"Nah. We were lucky. Jack used his charms to cover up so we could escape by the back. That man knows how get anyone under his spell"

"No wonder why he's so popular"

"Yeah, we knew he would thrive. He has the touch and the skills"

"If all of you were that good, why wouldn't you pursue it?"

"Nah, I tried but that path was tough, cameras everywhere, prying eyes judging me for being me… I wanted a peaceful life. Besides, I had to take care of my brother, I made sure he had everything he dreamt of."

"Your heart is in the right place. A role model an example of life"

Jake reached out for Ramon's hand across the table, squeezing it when he got a hold of it.

The latter smiled, squeezing it back, mesmerized by the bunny-like boy's beauty.

"You praise me too much, trying to make me shy?"

"I'm being real, if my goal were to make you shy I'd do something bold"

"Bold? What would you do?"

Ramon asked intrigued by the sparkle dancing in those amber eyes making them look like pure gold.

"Patience, Sir~ You'll get to know when the right time comes~"

Ramon lifted his eyebrow, observing how the honey haired let go off his hand.

"Anyhow, I gotta do some research"

Jake sang, getting on his feet.

"What are you going to look up?" Ramon enquired.

"Gotta dig up into the internet to find those pictures", Jake chuckles, giving him thumbs up.

"No, man. I told ya because it was fun." Ramon held his head down in shame.

"I just wanna take a look, I bet y'all rocked in those clothes",

Jake wiggled his eyebrows playfully making Ramon cringe at the memories.

"If by rocking you mean being sent in a rocket to the moon, then yes, we did"

"C'mon. Do you still have the suit?" Jake's sweet voice boomed in the room as his eyes shone.

"I do… Although I paid for it with my first paycheck. I just couldn't live with the guilt"

"Can I see it?" Jake begged in a pleading tone.

"You can, but I won't try it on"

"Why not?" Disappointment marred Jake's voice whilst the brunette shook his head.

"Because it's like 3 sizes less, I'd rip it off if I were to", Ramon put his hands over his chest, pushing them out as if explaining visually how it would rip off.

Jake grinned, playing with his finger, scrunching his nose cutely, he might seem adorable but the thoughts in his head were anything but that.

"It makes me want to see it even more"

Ramon picked up the empty plates, one over another, but in his attempt to run off he almost threw them to the ground.

Jake helped him by rushing up to him, steading the messy pile of plates in his hand.

"Careful, Herc."

The honey haired took them from him to bring them to the kitchen.

Ramon's face flushed in a bright shade of vermilion.

"You don't have to do the dishes"

"I know, but I want to~"

Jake whipped his head around, eyes landing on the large male, giving him his most adorable grin, showing off his bunny teeth, eyes smiling.

Ramon was attacked by the pretty boy's sweet aura, his heart thumping like thunder.

He cleared his throat when he realized he hadn't moved from his spot, not knowing how much time had passed.

"Oh, right. I had to call Teodoro"

"Your brother is fine"

Jake replied, scrubbing the pot, his voice calm.

"How do you know?"

"I–... I mean, it's late, he's, most likely, sleeping or he ran out of battery and forgot to charge his device."

Ramon thought carefully about it, nodding.

"Right, I'll call my bestie. Thanks for the heads up"

Jake glanced his way, chuckling seeing Ramon fetching his device fast dialing his friend.

"Heyo, man!"

A ragged voice came through the line, as heavily panting was heard in the background.

"Sup… man… ughh"

"Mmm"

Ramon's eyes bulged out, almost dropping the phone.

"Where are you?"

"Hooo— home"

"Where is my bro and his best friend?"

"Ma--uhhh place"

"Jeez, man! Couldn't you keep your horny ass under leash when my brother is around?. Wait, who are you wrecking to?"

Ramon growled, his azure eyes resembling the sea at night just before the storm struck.

"There… harder please"

However, the voice which echoed through the call wasn't as deep as his brother's, it was a high pitch scream.

"Jimeno?"

He said unbelievably, Jake whipped his head around again as Ramon yelped.

"Now y'know… uhhh, call later man…"

"Disgusting. I didn't need to know that… where is my bro?"

"Sleeping… gotta go ohhh, bye"

Jack hung up on him as Jimeno's moans became louder, turning Ramon into a tomato with long legs, frozen in his spot.

"You ok, man?"

Jake approached him after he finished doing the dishes, concerned as the brunette hadn't moved an inch since the call ended, phone in hand with a shocked expression.

"No…"

Ramon mouthed as his voice was stuck in his throat, staring nowhere on the wall.

"Did anything happen to your brother?"

"I hope he's sleeping with earplugs"

Jake tilted his head as he couldn't catch up what he meant.

"How come?"

"This world is filthy and he must keep his mind free from it"

Finally Ramon moved his limbs, saving his device, wishing he could obliterate those words from his brain.

"I don't get what you mean, man…"

"Imma punch him next time I see him"

Ramon growled mad at his best friend for letting it loose when his brother stayed at his place.

"Whom?"

"My best friend"

"Why?" Jake couldn't get why he would be so mad but even annoyed the man looked breathtaking.

"For being a pervert when my little brother is around. I hope they don't rub it off on him", Ramon narrowed his brows, gritting his teeth, his dragon eyes mirroring like a vivid blue flame.

"Rubbing what?" Jake asked innocently however it triggered Ramon.

"Their dirty behavior. Don't they have manners?"

Jake pondered if he qualified every naughty thought into that list.

"It's his apartment… can't he do as he pleases at his place?" He didn't see the problem as Ramon seemed worked up to a madness point.

"Yeah, he can. But not when Teo is around. That's offensive"

"Don't you think if your brother were to find it insulting he would be back by now?", he played as devil's advocate, trying to make him understand it's not that bad.
