Getting Occupied (2)

Her voice as she says his name was like a sweet music to his ears. He was like being caressed and tickled by light feathers. Not even his girlfriend can say his name like this.

"Ms. Duran... ahemmm!!! " He pretended to clear his throat. "I would have recommended older employees for this task but they have kids to leave at home. So this job is for singles like you. Atleast, you can call your loved ones back home. I don't want my employees to leave their children because of work. Atleast as long as possible." He tried to explain casually but the truth is, he also wanted to spend time knowing this newly hired employee whom he personally interviewed and hired. It was rare for him to have the chance to personally interview and hire employees for his company. These are the tasks of Gina and Larry. But wait, why does he need to explain anyway? After all, he is the big boss! But something in him draws out this need to find reasons to talk to him. Could this be an infatuation?

"Sir Vince..." she said again not knowing what to say. Maybe she was sleepy that her mind was already starting to take a flight to dreamland.

"Ms. Duran, do you have something to say?" He asked as he smiled inwardly hearing his name said the second time.

"Hmmmm.... I'm not sure about it sir Vince. Can you give me sometime to think about it. Not much about the location though, it's about the nature of work." she said.

"Okay, sure. But I can only give you until this week. Let me know by Saturday, can you?" He said.

"Okay I'll try hard sir Vince.." she said as she gave a soft laugh.

"Oh! That actually only yes or no Ms. Duran. But anyway, I'll wait for your decision this weekend. Don't get stressed out "

"Sure sir Vince. Thank you." she said as they bid goodbye.

After she hung up, she pondered on it. Work as a teller for about six to eight hours, then do secretarial job another four to six hours...fully paid. Sounds reasonable! But is that what I wanted in life?

'Ahhh, whatever!!! ' She grasped her head with both hands. She was thinking about this offer already that she didn't realize she was too occupied by it. She didn't have the urge to dwell on the memories of her gone beloved. Without much struggle, she fell soundly asleep.

Mrs. Duran has all breakfast set when she came down the next morning.

"Good morning mom. Where's Dad?" She asked as usual. It can be said that she is more close to her dad than her mom.

Just then, Mr. Duran came out from the bathroom.

"How's work going Daryle?" He dad asked.

"It's going smooth dad. And by the way, my big boss wants to transfer me to the Capital City and take up secretarial job besides ticket telling." she told him. Her mom went to the bathroom in turn.

"Oh, that's good. Atleast it will keep you occupied. But don't forget you still need to take your exams soon." Mr. Duran reminded.

"It's boring reading all those reviewers. There's nothing new in them. " She said as she shoved into her mouth a bite of pancake.

"By the way, I heard that Mr. and Mrs. Marquez are planning to start a charity foundation in honor of Charles. I heard that the beneficiary offered them a huge sum of money in exchange for their son's eyes." Mr. Duran informed.

"Wowww! Really Dad? That's great.!!! " Daryle became ecstatic as she heard the news. Her heart suddenly burst out with joy and love. She will definitely support that foundation when the right time comes for her to be able to help. She subconsciously found a purpose in life to pursue. ' This is it' she smiled sweetly.

"They are still in the initial stage of planning. This may take some time to appear in surface. Do you plan to take part in it?" He asked his daughter.

"Surely dad, I mean, definitely!!!" She said. as she got up to give her dad a hug. "Thanks for the great news dad. I need to go." She said as she got her sling bag and hurriedly jogged down to the steps to the highway. She felt revived all of a sudden.
