Characters: Alex, Ruth and Grandmother

They drive in as they safely arrive at the village.

They got to the village safely. Alex profusely press on the horn to call attention to grandmother.

Ruth: Anybody home? Hello... Is there anybody home? (The whole place still remains silent)

Alex: My in-law are u there?

Grandmother: (She comes out cheerfully to welcome them)

My in-law u are welcome.

Alex: Thanks mom. How are u faring?

Grandmother: I'm perfectly fine as you can see. I'm even more glowing and blushing. Have a seat. (She brings some chairs for them to sit on) Let me get you something to drink.

Alex: We are fine. We've had water already or honey?

Ruth: Yeah we are fine mother.

Grandmother: Hmmmmn u are always fine. Is that you don't like our kind of water here? It's been a very long time you came here and when u came u are rejecting ordinary water.

Ruth: Ooooh mother... (Ruth stretched reluctantly)

Grandmother: aaaaah well what else can I say if you say you are okay? So what brings you here after a very long time of visit?

Alex: Eeeeerm mother as u know it's been a very long time we visited you so my wife and I thought it wise to come and visit you and also say hi to elders around.

Grandmother: That's a laudable thought my children. In fact I thought you people had already forgotten about us.

Alex: Hahahaha how can I forget about my beautiful mother in-law who gave me this beautiful and wonderful woman as a wife.

Grandmother: In-law, in law. So where is my grandson?

Ruth: aaaah mother he's at home

Grandmother: aaaah aaaah!!! (Grandmother speaks with surprise on her face) You left that innocent small boy all alone in that big house? How possible? You should have come with him. You know how much I miss my grandson.

Ruth: eeeerm mother he's not all alone in the house.

Grandmother: Then with whom is he staying with?

Ruth: Eeeeerm mother my childhood friend.

Grandmother: What!!!!!! (Grandmother exclaimed unhappily)

Alex bows his head and contemplates on what grandmother will say next. He speaks to himself alone.

Alex: What is happening (He talks to himself alone)

Grandmother: Ruth talk to me. Explain better. What brought your friend to your matrimonial home? Did she come to visit or what?

Ruth: Mother eeeerm (Ruth turns to look at her husband's face) mother, it's Antoinette my friend.

Grandmother takes Ruth inside.

Grandmother: You don't mean it. That girl!!! (Grandmother vehemently protests) What has come over you? Are u in sane?

Ruth: She needed help badly. Her fiance sent her packing.

Grandmother: What made her fiance sent her away? Do you know? Did u even ask?

Ruth: She almost slept on the streets, she had to carry people's pots to earn a living. I was so disturbed about her situation when I met her at the market one day in tatted clothes. She's been a good friend since childhood.

Grandmother: Don't come to me crying one day. Don't ever say you have regretted your actions.

Ruth: Why do you say so mother?

Grandmother: Did u discuss it with your husband before taking that decision?

Ruth: No

Grandmother: My goodness what were you thinking. So what did he say when he came home? I mean what was his reaction?

Ruth: He was very angry and asked me to ask her to go.

Grandmother: And then....?

Ruth: I insisted she stay. I convinced my husband nothing bad will happen. (She convincingly tells grandmother)

Grandmother: Ruth!!!!!!! (Grandmother exclaimed angrily in a higher tone) So what if she takes over your home?

Ruth: hahahahaha nothing of that sort will ever happen.

Grandmother: In deed u are child. (Grandmother talks in proverb)

Adage: What the oldies see when they sit in their chairs, the youngsters never see when they mount the tallest building.

Ruth: But mom..... (She speaks with worries on her face)

Grandmother: Shut up!!!! Don't be silly!!! (Grandmother yelled) You don't know what you are getting yourself into. Don't run to me in tears tomorrow.

Ruth: Nothing evil will happen. The Lord is my Shepherd.

(Alex walks to the car and brings out the items they brought for grandmother)

Grandmother: You talk as if you aren't my daughter.

Ruth: Ooooh mother nooooo don't say that. All is well (She holds grandmother's cheeks and smiles) can we go out now? My husband is waiting.

They walk outside to meet the items packed in front of the room.

Grandmother: Eeeeih my in-law will kill me with stuff. The one's u brought the last haven't finished and u are still adding more. Thank u my in-law.

Alex: Mother there's no need for that. It's our duty to cater for you.

Grandmother: What would I have done without you my in-law?

Alex: You gave me your beautiful daughter for marriage and I should also be thanking u in return. (Hahahahahaha they both laughed)
