Finding Out The Final Things

Thomas tried to hold it together as best he could while everyone ventured separately once more into their set corridors. Afterwards, he broke down in a cold sweat and had a small panic attack.

It was the first time Thomas had killed himself, in order to try and see if he can proc his passive skill "Redo" on his own.

"It is okay, deep breaths Tommy," Thomas used Alex's nickname for him while taking deep breaths in and out, then also for a slight chuckle to try and calm down.

Thomas immediately checked the system for his remaining HP to make sure once he calmed down.

[User: Thomas Rosemary]

[HP: 4/10]

[You will not regenerate any HP until next day]

There was still one more thing Thomas needed to find out that was crucial before deciding to combat the demon. He proceeded back to camp and met up with Tim.

"Did you find anything?" Tim asked identically, like every other time before.

"Nah, it was a dead end! I will sit and join you in waiting for the others," Thomas grinned deceitfully.

The demon's origin of his appearance still needed to be discovered, and if Thomas was right, being next to Tim was the place to be. Luckily Tim's timid personality came in handy for Thomas to reorganize his thoughts and sum up all the events and information he had gathered from each of his deaths.

First, the demon was blind.

Second, Emily managed to injure him, meaning she was the most crucial person to retrieve for when they battled against it.

Third, he would appear first and murder Tim.

Fourth, judging from the decay and how much each rope was incinerated, the deaths were in the following order: Tim, Corbin, Ashley, Emily and lastly Thomas. The reason was obvious once Thomas analyzed the corpses' smell and put in the timeline in accordance to the time anomaly occurring in each corridor.

This meant that in a perfect scenario, Thomas would have to catch Emily before she ventured too long in her corridor and for Tim to fetch Ashley. Then they would all go together before the demon would be able to strike down Corbin.

Fifth, the demon has some sort of ooze-like attacks like the first demon Thomas ever faced. The only difference being that it burns upon contact and needs to be avoided at any cost.

Thomas had yet to scan the demon and check for its level. If another thing he feared was true, the demon was most likely withholding more abilities for Thomas to unfold.

And sixth, the demon mentioned something about a "council". Was this some sort of human council? Demon council? It was something Thomas needed to figure out once they made it out alive, all together.

Thomas pondered for a long time and forgot all about time. It was only until something dripped on his jacket that it stole his attention.

"Eww… what is this?" Thomas said after stopping from being spaced out.

He immediately noticed it was the ooze-like substance and it started melting through his jacket. Thomas stood up and then immediately removed and threw away his jacket before it could reach his shirt and skin underneath it.

Suddenly, the spot where they were standing became even darker, almost as if something were above them…

"Shit!" Thomas realized it and looked up.

"Tim, move!" Thomas yelled and got out of the way right in time with Tim, dodging the demon who landed in the center between the two of them.

The demon stood up slowly from landing, providing Thomas with some time to analyze it.

Tim was still in shock and it happened too fast for Thomas to react. The demon launched its ooze and scorched Tim immediately, with him screaming for Thomas' help.

"I am so sorry," Thomas rushed towards Emily's corridor, ignoring and abandoning Tim.

There was yet another thing for him to do. Thomas still needed to know how Emily managed to injure the demon.

"Wait for me!" The demon laughed playfully.

Thomas heard a slurping sound coming from behind him, then heavy footsteps trailing him. It made him sick to think of, as it most likely must have already killed Tim and then sipped him like a milkshake.

Once he caught up to Emily, she was shocked to see him first, hence she was heading towards the exit as well to check on the heavy sound approaching them.

"Thomas?! Do you hear that as well?" Emily referred to the footsteps behind them.

Thomas nodded, there was not much time to explain.

"I told Tim to fetch the others, then lured the demon here for him to get away!" Thomas lied, "We need to hold him off until we receive reinforcements!" Thomas unsheathed his sword and prepared himself for combat.

Emily immediately bought the lie and reached behind her back, just like back during their practice. Her bow with a quiver crystallized into sight for her to grab.

"Do you have any information regarding the demon?" Emily asked while drawing an arrow.

"It uses some ooze like attack, burns upon impact and scorches your blood from the inside. Also, it is most likely a Tiered-3 one," Thomas informed her rapidly.

This was the first time he had seen Emily gulp nervously, and he could tell it was not a good sign for either one of them in regards to this matter.

"Well… let's hope we can hold out long enough for help to arrive," Emily said shakenly with her voice and lips trembling.

And now there was nothing but for the two of them to wait, with Thomas fearing that the demon might be even scarier for them to face than he had thought of before.
