My Accidental Husband Is My Revenge Partner

Anastasia, a young woman abused by her cruel family, faced a bleak future when they forced her to marry Richard, the black sheep of a wealthy family. Meanwhile, her favored younger sister, Michelle, was set to marry Xavier, the elder brother, who was a CEO. However, an error at city hall swapped their marriage certificates, leading Anastasia to marry Xavier, and Michelle to wed Richard. Despite her family's attempts to reverse the mix-up, Anastasia's grandparents transferred all their wealth to her after they died, infuriating her family even more. In a violent confrontation, they beat her until she lost the child she didn't know she was carrying. Anastasia decided to trade her properties for a peaceful life; she was willing to leave and never return but sadly, her family had another plan in mind. They wanted to get rid of her permanently. Miraculously, Anastasia was rescued by Xavier, her accidental husband, who helped her recover. With newfound strength and resources, Anastasia sought vengeance against those who wronged her. As Anastasia and Xavier face their challenges together, their initial marriage of convenience blossoms into a deep and passionate romance. Excerpt; “Life gave you one more chance to live and never return to the Harrison family ever again, but you decided to do the opposite, Anastasia. I’m going to kill you with my bare hands,” Michelle threatened, pulling out the gun she hid in the back of her jeans, pointing it at Anastasia. A flash of thunder lit up the sky, followed by the rain pouring down even heavier. Before Michelle could pull the trigger, Anastasia had already snatched it from her, baffling Michelle. It was a cool trick she learnt from Xavier. Holding Michelle at gunpoint, Anastasia ordered, “Life gave me the chance to live so that I can make your life a living hell, Michelle. Now, move—your hands in the air and don’t make me repeat myself.”

Error At The City Hall

"Say, after we are done with this marriage stuff, we can go home and celebrate by having a little fun tonight," Richard suggested, winking at Anastasia with a sly grin on his lips as he chewed a piece of gum. He placed his hand on her waist, making her flinch.

Anastasia ignored him, pretending she didn't hear him speak. She walked towards the city hall with her ID in her hand. With each step she took, she could see her dreams shattering. She gulped down her saliva, inhaled then exhaled, hoping it would calm her nerves.

"I'm talking to you." Richard grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her towards him.

"You are hurting me," she managed to mumble, her eyes lowering, unable to make eye contact with him.

"Oh, so you can hear me? I thought you went deaf for a second," said Richard, licking his lips lustfully as he sized her up. "Just wait until we are married, I will deal with you properly," he threatened before he released her and marched inside the city hall without waiting for her.

Tears pooled in Anastasia's eyes as she watched his back disappear. Today was the day she was going to marry Richard, who was known to be the black sheep of the Wallace family. While her younger sister, Michelle was to marry her first son, Xavier whom she had only seen once when he and his grandma came to their mansion to finalize a few things with her family.

She knew her whole world had shattered and there was no point in revival, so she simply did as she was told, and endured the pains even when they were unbearable. No one had ever asked her what she wanted anyway.

Wiping her tears with the back of her hands, Anastasia took a deep breath before she pushed her body to resume moving.

Both Richard and Anastasia submitted all the requirements and waited for the staff to look through them.

When she was done, the staff said, "The marriage certificate will be printed. Please come back in 5 hours."

Anastasia acknowledged the staff by giving a nod before she walked away. 5 hours was a lot of time so she decided to go home. Richard trailed behind her like a dog until she got to her car.

Luckily, he didn't bother speaking to her until she got to her family's mansion.

Anastasia sighted her mother, Amelia seated on the couch with a few snacks beside her as she enjoyed what was displayed on the television. She tried to make her steps unknown but Richard's loud mouth gave her away.

"Auntie, guess what? Our marriage certificate will be ready in a few hours and then I will officially be your son-in-law," Richard said with a big smile on his face which irked Amelia.

She wasn't proud to have Richard, the black sheep of the family as her son-in-law. But his family's background, which could help strengthen hers as they become in-laws, could bring lots of benefits to her. But as long as he wasn't married to her favorite daughter Michelle, she was okay with it.

As soon as Amelia sighted Anastasia from the corners of her eyes, she barked, "Don't you know how to greet, you unfilial child?! You seem to have lost your manners!"

Anastasia didn't waste any time and quickly prostrated, she laid her face downwards as if she was one of the servants.

"You'd better start packing because as soon as the documents are out, you are going to live at the Wallace mansion, together with Richard," she ordered. Her eyes held so much distaste and disdain directed towards her.

Anastasia nodded and waited for Amelia to give her permission to excuse herself.

"You can leave."

Anastasia didn't wait for a second to hear the names her mother rained on her as she ran towards her room to quickly pack her bags.

After five hours

Anastasia got ready to go to the city hall again to retrieve her marriage certificate with Richard. The latter didn't bother to come with her, he was out with his friends, drinking as always and Anastasia knew he was going to vent on her later at night.

Sighing, she got out of the car and headed inside. She frowned when she recognized a figure. It was Michelle, her sister.

'She must be here to collect her marriage certificate as well,' Ana thought to herself.

Michelle was standing in front of the same staff she met a few hours ago, retrieving her marriage certificate but Anastasia didn't want to interact with her.

Their relationship had always been an unpleasant one. With Michelle being the favored daughter of the Harrison family, she always got what she wanted. Even if Anastasia wanted it too, she would be forced to give it up for Michelle. It was the duties of the eldest daughter, they said.

Anastasia bit her bottom lip as she contemplated, taking a step backward to disappear before Michelle could see her.

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on her side. The staff recognized Anastasia and quickly called her.

"Mrs. Wallace, I have your marriage certificate with me. Please come and get it," said the staff.

Instantly, Michelle turned her back with a grin on her face when she saw Anastasia.

"Ana, oh my! I didn't know you were going to come back here. We could have come together," she said, her voice as high-pitched as the birds that chirp early in the morning. "Come and take your marriage certificate," she urged her.

Anastasia read between the lines. She was mocking her for marrying the black sheep while she was married to the CEO of the Wallace enterprise.

Anastasia revealed a small smile that didn't reach her eyes, took the marriage certificate from the staff, and turned, about to leave but Michelle pulled her back.

"Come on, I want to see it. I want to see the useless man you will start calling your husband for the rest of your life," she urged, her eyes filled with mockery and her tone hushed so that the staff wouldn't hear her.

Anastasia didn't want to delay and make things harder for her. Her hands trembled as she ripped open the envelope that contained the marriage certificate. Spreading it open, her breath catching in her throat.

Her eyes fell on the photo attached and the certificate slipped from her grasp, fluttering on the floor. Her heart pounded wildly, her chest tight with a mix of disbelief and fear.

'That's not Richard, that's Xavier.'
