Sitting at the table the entire Greyrat household couldn't help but look at their youngest member worriedly. Rudy looked fine but something about him was clearly off. It wasn't something subtle like he seemed sad or anything like that but something much more obvious.
"Rudy, are you okay?" Paul questioned his son. He would like to leave his kid's problems to himself so that he could solve them by himself but this was… out of expectation? An exception? It was difficult to explain.
"Hm? I'm fine." Rudy answered casually, his right eye looking at Paul while his left eye continued to look around the house as though it was taking in everything for the first time. Going back to his food Rudy picked up his fork with his right hand and continued eating.
However, a moment later his left hand grabbed his cup and lifted it up to his mouth despite his fork already being there. It was like his left and right halves were fighting against each other and it was incredibly strange.
"Are you sure Rudy?" Zenith questioned in suspicion. Rudy had been a ball of mischief ever since he was allowed to use magic but even then it never was this strange. At most, it was something like the flowers in the yard changing or something of a similar scale not… this.
"Mhm. It'll be fixed soon." Rudy replied blandly as his right hand smacked his left hand like he was scolding a bad pet. As amusing as it may seem it was incredibly odd seeing him scold his own body.
"Ok? You can ask me for help if you need it you know." Roxy said awkwardly. Rudy was a difficult child to get a read on so it was hard to tell if it was really a small issue or not but Roxy had a high degree of trust in his ability so all she did was offer her help.
"Thank you." Rudy said without a change in emotion however his tone indicate that he was touched. On the other hand, his left hand sagged down like it was a puppy that was sad that it disappointed its owner.

Sitting down on the hill outside my home I raised my right hand and created a magic circle. Normally Roxy would be here to help me but at the moment she was busy helping dad with his patrol since it is mating season.
[What did I say about doing things at the table?] I mentally scolded the Demon God who could technically be considered a parasite stuck to my body. As the reincarnation magic was changed abruptly it became messy and that resulted in the current situation of Laplace controlling the left half of my body.
[I just wanted to help though.] Laplace explained sadly, his sorrow overflowing to me from our connection. While we couldn't read each other's thoughts we could roughly tell what our counterpart was feeling and vaguely what they were thinking about.
For example, right now Laplace is thinking that he disappointed or annoyed me despite our connection proving that only the latter was true. Still, I can't fault him completely, even I struggle to believe that what I feeling is completely true.
[The sentiment is enough. Now help me fix the magic circle.] I demanded from the Demon God himself. For somebody written down in history as somebody extremely feared he was quite easily hurt.
[Of course.] Laplace replied confidently. I suppose as the one called the Magic God he was pleased to actually be of help to me. I was excited to be able to receive his help as from the sole magic circle he showed me I could safely say he deserved the title.
In any case, the magic circle doesn't simply attach his soul to mine separately instead, our souls are fighting for power in a way. Neither of us wants such a situation however the soul is a nearly impossible thing to control.
Even now I can feel my control slipping and occasionally I would lose control of a finger or two before regaining control over them. Rarely my soul pushes back his own and I can control even a portion of my left hand.
In any case, the magic circle Laplace used was flawed however considering that he altered the spell on the fly like that I would call it a success even if only partially. To solve the issue we need to change how the magic circle connects our souls.
Currently, our souls are positioned like a Venn diagram however ideally they would be positioned in a way where there is a main soul and a sub soul which can be switched out when something happens to the main soul or permission is given.
Not only that but the magic circle also severely limited my mana reserves by over 75% of my total. I still had more than nine times as much as Roxy had in total but it was slightly disorienting.
Worse still, mana has a connection to the body's state. When full of mana we are full of energy and when low of mana we feel exhausted. In extreme cases, it may even result in the body getting sick which is known as Mana Deficiency.
However, that isn't to say the magic circle is terrible. As I previously mentioned Laplace changed the magic circle on the fly and his knowledge is all from nearly five centuries ago yet it still retains efficiency just below my own. All without knowledge of the modern era in my previous world.
From what I can tell that is because of the way he utilizes his magic circles. Individually the circles are far worse than my own however from what I can tell he has actually stacked hundreds of magic circles on top of one another to reach the same level of efficiency.
While the idea of using multiple magic circles had crossed my mind I hadn't thought of stacking them as I was worried the mana would merge together ruining the entire spell but Laplace seems to have fixed that issue.
The solution was shockingly simple. It was to use mana with different 'wavelengths' for each and every magic circle. Just as each person's mana had a unique color depending on their person and their emotional state each set of mana had a wavelength of sorts.
Of course, it was incredibly difficult as the magic circle had nearly a thousand individual circles however it was possible to replicate, at least for me. For other people, it would be nearly impossible however I had conditioned my mind to be able to process and store much more information than this.
Combining Laplace's stacking theory with my refined magic circles the efficiency should be increased to the point where my mana will only be limited by about 17% which, while better, isn't great.
Luckily I had another theory that can be used. I had planned to implement this particular idea after refining the magic circles further but that can wait for another time. My theory was incredibly simple however this world's common sense and various other meager issues resulted in it never being created.
My theory boiled down to creating magic circles in a three dimensional shape in order to have more space to jam pack with magic nonsense. Even something as small as a normal six sided die could have more processing power than a magic circle spreading across the entire Asura kingdom.
Of course, such a small dice would take an incredibly large amount of mana as well as a firm mental image. Safe to say that such a thing will never be created in the future. Well, other than those I create.
Regardless, with all these different techniques it will be fairly simple to solve the issues in the magic circle though the process of using it should be fairly challenging as during the process to replace it our souls will begin to separate.
Well, it'll be fine.
