Jacob woke up in horror as he vomited fresh water from his lungs. He felt a frightening fear in his chest, knowing that he should have died after passing out in the water. Jacob felt weak and exhausted from what he was just out through.

He carved out a chunk of its fatty flesh from its side and left the rest. Jacob was weak and needed some food, so he couldn't be picky. He could only rely on the creature's flesh to give him strength.

If he wanted to live, he needed strength.

Jacob took a bit of the mat as it tastes fishy and bitter. The fish meat was so unpalatable that Jacob only took a bite and threw the rest away. Otherwise, he would have thrown up. It never provided any nutritional value.

With some strength recovered, he began to observe his surroundings. He looked around and found no traces of monsters around him.

With a long sigh of relief, Jacob climbed up into a tall tree's crown. Jacob looked around him just to make sure. While he was looking out he could see that he was barely a mile away from the black mountain.

Jacob eventually recovered enough strength to set out again. He tried his best to circumvent the area of the mountain but after an hour of eschewing from the mountain. Though he soon realized he was not getting any further away from the black mountain.

"This will not end well, that mountain has some kind of agenda with me. If I go I will die for sure" Jacob was in a dilemma, he didn't know what he should do.

His senses were telling him to avoid the mountain, but that was impossible. It was like a moon following someone in the sky. He eventually set up camp where he stayed a reasonable distance from the black ominous mountain.

Jacob never understood what was happening, there was nothing he had learned that could tell him what this was. He heard of the Man-Beast forest dangers, but he didn't know what it was. So it scared him.

His mind was not coming up with solutions, so he decided to rest by the stump of a tree. Jacob passed out quickly and he slept like a log, his body was under a lot of stress and needed sleep.

He fell asleep but soon, he was woken up by a forceful poke. He shot up from his sleep, to see a sword was at his neck.

"Get up quietly, don't make sudden movements or you're dead," The lady said. Jacob could only raise his hands in defeat. "Stand up as slowly as possible. Any funny moves will be in the dirt".

Jacob did as she asked and stood up.

"Sir, I have the perpetrator here. What shall we do with him?", she asked. Soon Jacob heard a boisterous laugh from the bushes and a dozen soldiers shot from the bushes and surrounded his location.

"You really think you would get away with stealing the golden chimera egg? Now hand it over or die!" Enroy shouted furiously.

"I don't have it, It hatched and ran away" Jacob lied and prayed Toma never came out of his clothes. Enroy was agitated, he knew Jacob was filled with lies.

"hm hm hm...hahaha! fine! have it your way. Torture him until he tells you where he hid it" Enroy ordered the woman holding Jacob captive.

She kicked Jacob's knee pit making him fall to the ground. She grabbed his hair then pulled out her knife in a quick motion before she froze. Her face turned pale as the well-trained warrior fell onto her rump. The female warrior scrambled back in fear.

Enroy was filled with confusion. "What is the meaning of this! Are you afraid of some foolish child, Find out where the Golden Chimera egg is!"

"Sir he...he... Is Jacob, the Shepherd family" The woman could only make incoherent sentences.

"I could give less fuck if he was my grandson! Follow your orders!", Enroy flew into a rage.

A soldier came up to the female warrior and consoled her, then said "Sir, I don't think you understand the situation. In fact, it's normal for her to be acting this way because this person here is not simple"

"What nonsense is going on, What do I not know about?" Enroy asked.

The soldier looked at Jacob with bewilderment. He started to go over the history of the shepherd family and what they have been doing in recent years. He never failed to explain the catastrophe they had just experienced.

Enroy fell into deep thought before he spoke again. "Well, I understand why she acted this way, but you said it yourself. He is a cripple, so why with the cold feet?"

"Forgive me, sir. I will carry out the deed in her place" the soldier respectfully bowed and walked toward Jacob.

His face looked unfazed as he spoke, "I do not wish to hurt you any more than you already have been this past month. Just tell me where the Golden Chimera egg is and we can leave you alone to a life of peace. I will make sure this information stays under wraps" the soldier sympathised.

"I don't know where it is, maybe you can help me find it"

The veins around the soldiers' temple tensed, his calm gestures grew cold with a nonchalant expression.
