CHAPTER ONE

The rustling of leaves could be heard as laughter filled the air. Children  chasing one another happily as their mothers call for them. The atmosphere was lively, people were seen hurrying about in a festive mood. Some teenage girls of almost the same age group were seen gossiping as they sat in a circle picking vegetables and  peppers. It was obvious that something big was happening

So what will now happen to Akande?? One of the girls whispered curiously.

What do you mean??  Obviously it is over another replied

Yes he must have known nothing can ever come out of their love when his rival is the Ooni's son' a voice chirped in

But he is also the Balogun's son and next one at that abi Lola??

The first girl asked , as if she was still not convinced

Well today is a proof that the Elephant no matter how strong is still not the king of the jungle" Lola answered

Hmmm.....the first girl sighed

Were you actually rooting for them?? Another girl about 17 asked mockingly

Moremi most have known , she obviously just wanted to play with Akande's feelings" the first girl said angrily

Well well well thanks to that my elder sister will finally have a chance" another replied happily

In your dreams, no doubt Moremi is by far the most beautiful girl but with her out of the picture the competition can now begin and I tell you I will get him"  another teen said

The other girls glanced at her and burst out in laughter obviously mocking the girl

Please please please just stop dreaming

Shotigbo ala ti ole se ( have you heard about dream that can never come true) Another said mockingly

we are almost done let's take it to the kitchen before Olori deal with us ' Lola said with mirth in her voice.

They all stood up, the young girl that was mocked didn't take it to heart as it only strengthens her resolve to get the young warlord.

In a beautiful room not far from the main palace, an  extremely beautifully dressed young maiden was seen sitting in front of an older lady who was also dressed elegantly. Okay you people can leave" the woman said as the young maids who had finished dressing the young maiden payed their respects and hurried out.

Maami am scared " the beautiful maiden said to her mother.

My beautiful daughter, it is okay to be scared after all you have never met your proposed husband

I had the same feeling eh omo mi (my child) so it is okay to be scared but don't let the fear rule your heart. You will learn to love your husband as I have learnt to love your father ' she said smiling

But Olori how?? How can I love someone I don't know

It is Akande that I love"  she refuted.

Maa soo bee mo ( don't say that again) the mother rebuked lovingly

What you feel for Akande is just a childhood crush it will be nothing compared to what you will feel for your king do not worry.

Okay if you say so after all you are wiser than I am " the maiden replied

So the most important thing I wanted to speak to you about, is about Tomorrow night.  Your wedding Night hmm  after the ceremony today, you will be travelling back to the great land of Ile ife with your husband and the wedding will be consummated there.

Adunni and Ajoke will be going with you and i have given them some herbs to prepare for you and also I have something I personally want to give you, the Queen said as she stood up to bring the gift out from its hidden place..

But Olori you have already showered me with soo many gifts.....

Moremi...haa I am your mother and I can shower you with so many gifts as I want eh this one is for you to use specifically for your husband. I will also give you the recipe and you will be the one to personally prepare it and when it is time you pass it to your own daughter. Her mother said, handing the wrapped gift to her.

Don't worry I will tell you how to use it, the Olori said with tears in her eyes hugging her daughter

Iya oko mi is all grown up now I will miss you my love

She said as both mother and daughter duo cried.

So my people hope you enjoyed this chapter

I am open to your corrections

The language spoken here is Yoruba

Olori means Queen and even if moremi is her child she still refers to her as that.

Maa so bee mo ( do not say that again) = maa as in ma

So as in Soh with the ugh

Bee as in eh sound

U can check up the pronunciation online tho

Iya okomi means the mother-in-law  yoruba mothers normally use this term to address their daughter as a way to praise the child.
