Cautiously stepping through the forest floor, my eyes swayed like a pendulum as I didn't dare lower my guard. The hairs on my neck could cut through the skin the way they were pointed.
The night was quickly approaching, and for some reason… I actually felt frightened. I couldn't remember when I felt so frightened by night. By the Hells! I was the goddamn Monarch yet… yet I was afraid.
A trickle of unease slithered down my neck in the form of perspiration as I looked towards the setting suns and the rise of the several moons.
"Careful, Arsene. It's the Dead Laws of Night." Lily warned. "It's bleeding out from the pillar… you might not want to—"
Hissing as the sizzling of my flesh entered my ears, I grunted as moonlight pierced through my palm and leg like hot butter, almost removing the entire arm before a dense layer of Forsaken and divinity sprung to life.
Saving my life, I shadow stepped behind a tree that somehow wasn't affected by the moonlight, allowing the wave of pain to break down the adrenaline and race through my nerves. My teeth grew clenched, and my heart hammered as I groaned.
"Is the moon trying to kill me?" I barked as I tried to heal my arm and leg with a few healing spells.
I picked my wounded body up and leaned against the lone tree, acting as my savior, when Lily's cold voice echoed, "... Arsene. What if it was the night trying to kill you… how would you defend against that? You'd be dead before you'd even realize it."
"Yeah, no shit." I hissed, holding back the searing pain akin to being boiled alive. "The Dead laws are making the moon seem like a goddamn god of death. Holy shit."
Pushing out my sense towards the five moons hanging over my head, I bitterly moaned. "Think If I block out the moons, It'll help?"
"The moment you stepped on this land mass, you entered another word with different laws. You can try, but darkness here might have other properties near the Dead Laws. You could amplify the effects of the moon, allowing it to pierce through your Darkness and the trees."
After mending the injuries, I grunted, "Let's not take that risk yet."
"Weak!~" booed Lily. " You can move faster than light."
"And I've no idea how gravity is affected? If I were to move that fast and approach a contaminated area, I'm screwed."
"Arsene. Brah. You got this. You got the MC Aura. I, lily believe in you!"
"Gods… what type of shit did you get my daughter into?"
"She does that on her own! That crazy bitch has something wrong with her. She's down to try anything. Did I ever tell you that she once dug out her eye… can you guess why?"
"... I don't want to know. But I bet it was awesome. My baby girl can't do wrong." I shamelessly bragged with a stupid grin on my face. "My baby girl gets whatever she wants."
"... And that's how terrible parents are made… whatever. What's the plan?"
Narrowing my eyes, I sighed. " I've no information. Proceeding ahead is foolish. I'll wait till the Suns rise."
…
…
…
Waiting till the sun rose and the moons faded, I felt like a scrub. Gods, this was so boring. Not to mention I was far too scared to cut my soul into pieces. It was way too dangerous here.
"Wonder what my next surprise will be." I cautiously said, rising to my feet as the winds billowed over my cheek, cutting through my jaw like paper.
"FUCK!!!!!! FUCK THIS!!!!" I howled, trying to reattach my jaw to my face while also trying to stop a river of blood from spilling out.
Winds with the properties of swords…. What's next, rain like hammers? Screw this place; screw it all! The laws change each day! It could change each second!
Swallowing myself with darkness embedded with the abyssal attunement, I whipped through the air, using each and every law to ignore wind resistance. I can't even adapt to these laws. At this point, the laws are just amalgamations of each other. They don't make sense. Even if I were to adapt, they could change at any time!
"See! Lily is always right! Use your MC Power Arsene. Show everyone the world revolves around you… just… just don't die."
Ignoring Lily, I charged ahead, pausing only when a particular race or beast caught my eye. Moving at Light Speed was still a no-no, but I was definitely moving faster than the speed of sound. Nevertheless, my defenses were up, and I was ready for—
"BOY!!!! We've found you!"
Glancing at Zolveck, gripping his jagged sword and the scrawny one, I almost smiled. " So? Is he gay?"
Zolveck snorted, shooting him a stare. " No idea… but that's not what's important!" he shouted, pointing his sword at me, as I began to notice a strange talisman at the end of his blade. There was a similar talisman on the scrawny one sword. The runes seemed ancient... And familiar.
Sensing the winds being repelled by those talismans, I smiled. " got another one?"
"You killed my cousin!" Zolveck shouted, reaffirming his already pointed blade towards me. He growled
"Like second cousin or third? Because third isn't really family, more like friends of the family that just so happen to share a little blood."
"Fifth cousin," Yuval said.
"Bro, shut the hell up! What is wrong with you? Don't tell people that!" Zolveck snapped, slapping him over the back of the head. "Gods, you're lucky you're my first cousin. Else I would've killed ya. "
"So, fifth cousin… did you even know him?"
"I was fucking the boys, mum! Of course, I knew him."
"Ahh, so it's about booty. I see. It all makes sense now. I like you, Zolveck. You and your crew make me laugh. I'll forgive you for trying to kill me if you become my guide in this hell hole." I offered, nodding a bit at my greatness.
"Why would I agree to that? You're screwing with my booty. I'd rather not go back to using my hand if you know what I mean."
'I can help with dat, boss!"
"Bro…" Both Zolveck and I said. " Stop!"
"Why don't we talk first instead of trying to kill one another? Hear me out first, and if you don't like it. I can kill you both and proceed on my way."
